Overall very tasty food. Most of our table for some sort of Fajitas & each were very filling. It is a standard American-Mexican restaurant. Prices are extremely reasonable. If your goal is to get a very hefty portion size that is tasty then this is the place. However, the reason for the 4* instead of 5* was the service. It wasn't awful service but you could tell most of their staff that English is not their main language. So it was hard to hear the waitress when asking us questions. Two of our guests would speak Spanish to them so it helped, but not for the rest of us. When we asked for waters, we didn't all get waters. When we asked for (& paid for) the additional tortilla chips, they were brought after we got our meals. We had a table of 12 & for how much the tip would be expected, you'd expect to see the waitress more than 1x outside of taking our drinks then dropping them off/getting order, dropping off food, & dropping off the bill. Sad. A once very good locally owned Mexican restaurant - is now just crap. Happy hours used to be very busy - now maybe 2-4 people. The service used to be awesome - they knew you (or acted like it). This Solea is terrible. I have given them 3 chances. The food is mediocre at best. Ordered and was out in 5 minutes. Met friends and the waiter was upset because we took so long and there were tons of open tables. Dropped our food off without saying 1 word. Never checked back. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. The service was spectacular and the food satisfied our craving for tacos. We were slightly disappointed in the yellow cheese on top of the enchiladas. The beef enchilada was quite tasty regardless. The tacos al pastor were super yummy. As my "go to" at most Mexican restaurants, the tacos here were up there with the best. Well now, what a difference. Talk about FAST! The food was good and the service was so much better. The best waitress that I have had there. I believe her name was Veronica. We had the chicken fajita for 2 and we didn't get 1/2 of our chips eating and the meal was being served. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star is the cleanliness. I just have to say, do not ever go here! First and foremost, my daughter had about a inch piece of rubberband in her food. Others saw her take it out of her burrito. However, when I just called to complain about the fact that I was charged for my cheese and pico de gallo, my taco salad was 14$ and ended up being about 25$, so I wanted to talk to the manager.... Well check this out, he said that they found a rubber band on the floor. Yes, we know. It was a red one, our friend was given a banner and the rubber band that was on it went flying. This one however was blue and cut into about a 1 inch piece. I was accused of putting it in the food. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!! My daughter had to ask several times for her pico de gallo and lettuce, which were not even on her plate. I have NEVER been charged for extra cheese there nor the pico de gallo, I wasn't even advised that I would be. Absolutely disappointed and dissatisfied. I will never go back to eat here. I hope you do the same!!! I will be calling the better business bureau tomorrow. I have never been accused of doing such a thing, nor would I EVER do anything of the sort.!!!! Appleton Solas was good but NOT here in Neenah. The last waiter we had, the 2 times before, in this location, was more aggressive and rude. Today not good. Taco salad and chimichanga was 100% meat with no taste, so only tasted like meat and was hard to chew. Had a coupon for Dining Discount through Restaurants.com (see picture below) but this restaurant would not accept the coupon because they said "we were already getting a discount drink for happy hour." Wow and it never said that on the coupon. I guess we are done coming to Neenah Solas. Food and service is not good there. And on on our 30th wedding anniversary of ours too, disappointing. This is a consistently good place I like to eat at when I'm in town. I've never had a bad meal here. In addition to the staples, they offer a nice menu of more adventurous fare. Last time I was here, they offered a California burrito with french fries inside and coconut shrimp tacos. The chips and salsa here are very addicting, and service has always been good. Everyone always told me how great Solea was and I finally caved. I got my favorite meal from Durangos (fajita burrito) so I could compare the two. I wasn't impressed. For one, guacamole was extra. Two, it cost more. Three, it was smaller. And four, it tasted alright but wasn't that great. The El Rey on the other hand was actually really good. The problem with that was it was $16 for a burrito... The table side guacamole wasn't flavorful either. The salsa was runny and had a strong onion flavor over anything else - not a fan. I had lunch here with a larger group on a Saturday afternoon. The place was wide open for us to grab a table without a reservation. They have a wide variety of Mexican food options including many that are healthier which is super important to me. The service was super friendly and attentive. I had a salad with shrimp which was large and very fresh. The atmosphere is much like your typical Mexican joint. I would definitely come back if I needed a quick bite in the Neenah area. read more

What a terrible experience. The worst Fajita I've ever had.. The pork was SO tough you couldn't cut it or even pull it apart to try to chew it. The plate it was on was SO hot it scorched everything that touched it..The pork was hard to find under a huge pile of green peppers and onions... they must be a lot cheaper to put on a plate than even the tough pork. Now add a waitress who is asking if we want take home containers just minutes after bringing out our entrees; and, taking every plate, cup, bowl "out of our way" before we barely had any thing off of it... Felt like we were getting bum rush to get out. No sooner had she brought out those containers she was back with out bills. There were lots of empty tables, but I asked if she needed us out to free the table. Very friendly service. One of the better locales right off the highway for those driving throuhh to points north. The Bell street ramp is closed so you have to get off at Winneconne and circle back. Patron margarita is very yummy at $6.50. I also liked the chips though not the bean dip. The Mexican cobb salad was great. My Mom said her burrito wasn't as good as the last time she was here though. The staff is friendly, the food is amazing, the atmosphere is great and so are the prices. We went there for a Mother's Day take-out and were a bit concerned about social distancing, but for the most part they are doing great! One person at a time enters the lobby to pick-up the order and they have a plastic shield between the worker who takes your credit card and you. The only issue was he had to handle the credit card & the pens you sign with are in a little box. After I signed, I left the pen on the receipt (thinking he'd wipe it down before returning it, but no). Bring a wet wipe and you will be fine. Same fabulous food, we were not disappointed other than we enjoy the chips at the table which we didn't get any, but I wanted to make sure we had some, so I ordered the guacamole, which was even better than the food! Sadly, I went to the Neenah restaurant because of the positive reviews. Unfortunately, it was not a positive experience AT ALL. To start off- we found a hair in our chips (which were very greasy) and even though we felt pretty disgusted after that, we didn't even get an apology for it. Our order for four people took 45min to come out was cold and one dish was made wrong (ordered chicken but got steak). We were constantly having to remind our waitress of things that were forgotten (tortillas, extra order of guac, drink refills etc). My carnitas were mostly fat and the fajitas were also very greasy. Then, to top things off- they couldn't even get the check right when we wanted it split two and two. We won't be coming back. read more

We were there at noon on a Sunday, the place was pretty empty, which would have been e red flag for me, but I had eaten there before, so I knew it was good. Our friends had 2 young children, they ate free, so that was a nice surprise. I have ate at all the Solea restaurants in appleton area, and they are all good. The one in Menasha is more "authentic".
