I went in one night with my girlfriend and some of her fam, I remember this place always being good but this time it was so nasty. My food was cold my frozen lemonade tasted like bleach, I'm not sure why so many places have been going to shit lately. But what truly inspired this review is the ridiculous server. She gave no respect to her guests who don't speak Spanish and kept her back turned. It's ok to have a language barrier but it's not ok to provide an unfriendly and uncaring environment. Great food no questions asked.but their staffing in front (Greeters) may need a lil bit of training. Me and my family walked in for dinner today 12/11. We ordered takeout from El Azteca on a recent Friday night. It was the second time we ordered from them - the first was before Covid. I'm sorry to report that both times the food was a tremendous disappointment, and we won't patronize them again. Taco salad was bland, with tasteless refried beans and ground beef, very little lettuce, and WAY too much sour cream, one small slice (not diced) of tomato. The edible bowl was disintegrating on the bottom and tasteless around the edges. The cheese & bean dip was tasteless and gray. The trio of enchiladas was just as bad: tasteless, poor texture, just not worth finishing. I'd rather go without Mexican food than face eating El Azteca food. We won't order again. read more

The food and ambiance is good...The problem is with the staff. From the time we were seated till the time we got the food was ridiculous. Over 45 min waiting for food with 2 young children is unacceptable. The order came out one at a time with a cheeseburger (childs), off all things, made wrong (no cheese). Now, I'm usually an over-tipper coming from a tip oriented profession and I was truly stumped on how much to leave. The waitress addressed us as either "Lady" or "Amigos" constantly and was becoming very annoying. This was the third time I've tried this restaurant and every time the service was horrible. Food and service inconsistencies are impacting the experience at El Azteca. Tonight we ordered the same meals we ordered about two months ago. Both items were different than last time. The pork was dry. There were beans and rice inside of the burrito this time and not sides. The seafood inside the chimichanga also had rice inside. The seafood mix itself was subpar: Very few pieces of shrimp; tiny rubber bits masquerading as scallops. The server never removed our empty chips basket, and we had to request the bean dip. The salsa was watery. The chips were overcooked. The beer was cold so they get three stars. read more

Top notch customer service! A group of friends scattered all over the country wanted to surprise a friend who lives local to an El Azteca location. I contacted Michael through the website and he coordinated including a special note with our order. He went the extra mile and included a birthday card with the note written inside! I didn't have the pleasure of tasting the desserts, but my friend assures me that they were fantastic. Loved, loved, loved their food! The restaurant is really cool, the decor makes you feel like you are in a real Mexican villa. They have piñatas on the walls, and the wall colors are true to Mexican heritage. The staff is amazing, really nice people, friendly and know what they are serving. I saw one of the employees devouring a taco during his break, and it made me like this place even more! The employees eat what they serve which is always a great sign! The food was just perfect! The tortillas for the salsa were clearly made in the restaurant. Super fresh and crunchy. The refried beans were cooked to perfection. I had the fajitas, I was upset because I couldn't finish because the serving was so big. It was so good!!! I wish I lived closer to them, so I could go more often. Highly recommend it! read more

Come here frequently for lunch as they are quite speedy. So speedy that I sometimes feel as though my meal arrived before I even ordered! Their lunch menu includes smaller portions at lunch prices of all of the popular items - fajitas, chimichangas, taquitos. These items are served with mexican rice and beans. My favorite lunch item is the Chicken Tacos al Carbon. This dish includes their cheese dip - YUM! YUM! Your meal will always start with chips, salsa, and bean dip. All are homemade and fantastic. WORST DINING EXPERIENCE. My friend and I came to have a few drinks yesterday. Let me start by saying the waiter was no help with recommendations of favorite drinks, he didn't know the difference between the margarita sizes, and also didn't know if they had a happy hour or not. (What???) Though we were only there for a few cocktails, our waiter seemed rather annoyed at the fact that we didn't want to order food and started neglecting our table. Towards the end of our visit, my friend decided to go to the bathroom and I was going to go out front for a cigarette. Being that our waiter didn't come by our table for some time, we decided we would go back to pay after going to the bathroom/ having a cigarette. THE WAITER DASHED OUT THE DOOR AT ME. Waving a receipt in the air yelling "you didn't pay, you didn't pay!" I have never felt so embarrassed before! All I wanted was to have a smoke quick and go back in, and he's trying to make a scene accusing me of trying to dine and ditch??? As we walked back to pay, I could definitely tell he had been making comments to the other employees and they were looking at me and my friend as if we were the most unwelcome people in the place. I will not be returning to this location. The service was inexcusable and the way our waiter treated us for excusing ourselves from the table to do our business was the icing on the cake. We got hungry somewhere around Neenah (the manhole capital of the world). We stopped at El Azteca and were pleasantly surprised. Good Mexican food in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin. I ordered the Flautas Mexicanas and they were delicious. Not as good as El Paisa's, but who's are? Crisp not dry, flavorful not bland. That's all I ask for in a flauta. My boyfriend ordered one of their combinations, but I can't remember which one. I wish I could for the sake of reviewing it, but he did say that it was great. *Interesting story: At the end of our meal, before the check came, our server appeared out of nowhere and served us two free shots of some kind of coffee/chocolatey flavored liqueur. (Maybe Kahlua?) Anyway, my boyfriend doesn't drink at all so it fell upon me to drink both of them. (Poor me.) This was my first taste of alcohol in nearly two years (because of having a child) so it hit me like a ton of bricks. I thought that was really neat of the server/restaurant to do that. Our table will start with an order of the guacamole, and if I'm hungry, I'll get the Burrito Azteca. If I'm feeling mildly virtuous, however, I'll get a bean burrito and/or a tostaguac. Their chimichangas also have an amazing cheesy white sauce that just makes the dish. Share a pitcher of margaritas with the family while you're at it. Tried to scrap it off, but was to much and only made me angry. Sent it back again and told them to take it off the bill. Bill showed up with it still on. Unbelievable, we dined there The night before last, and as always, the food was good and service was alright. The person that brought out my food had a sizzling skillet on top of a wood thing, as he placed in front of me he continued to have it tilted until the sizzling skillet proceeded in towards my lap! It slid right off the wood thing and all I could do was catch it to stop it from burning my lap. In one swift motion I tossed it back on top of the table, saving my lap, and making a minor burn on my hand. Minor as it is, it freaking hurt all through dinner. Three different people apologized to me for this, and I am pretty easy-going and I understand accidents happen. But our bill was $100, in the end I paid 120 including tip. Not even a discount for having to dine with a burned hand which actually hurt the entire time. Of course I didn't say anything, but commonsense says you do something for that person! I'm a server, and if I had burnt somebody I would not let them pay for any of the bill. I am starting to get a little bit fed up with this place, about three weeks ago we were there and got bad sour cream and it was really gross. I sears they might have to just give this place up. I struggle with this review because I generally like El Azteca (I've mostly visited the Kimberly location), but this location...not so much. The floors were REALLY slippery, I almost slipped a few times. Also, the booths are too big for two people. We felt like we were super far apart. Our waiter was attentive as always, so that was good. But, when we ordered our food, I swear it came out in less than 5 minutes. It made you wonder if the food was already plated and waiting for someone to order it. It also didn't state on the menu that tomatoes and onions are in the burrito, and my date doesn't like tomatoes or onions, so he didn't eat his food. I felt terrible. I always feel like the food is much more bland here than the other location. I've eaten here several times and have always made the comment about the beans and rice being blah. It would be nice to have some flavor. Overall, I'll probably come here again, but only if I'm on that side of town. Otherwise, I'll be heading to Solea's or Zacatecas. read more

How hard is it to get a small to go order right when you even place the order face to face? When I say "I would like French fries with the kids meal" and the waiter responds "yes yes all the kids meals come with French fries.
