Fantastic experience! I contacted Solidarity about a week before my new lease was to begin, but I then quite suddenly had to move my date up by five whole days. On a Friday, Zak was able to reschedule my move to the following morning with no extra charge and no extra stress for me! The movers, John and Christian, were very professional and super fast. Because it was short notice, my inventory ended up being a bit more than I had estimated, so I expected a big upcharge. But John noticed that I had overestimated the size of several items and took that into account as a price reduction, making my upcharge only $20 for at least five extra items! My wife and I had a good experience with Solidarity Movers when we recently hired a two-man crew to help us load our Brooklyn apartment into a Uhaul. Zak, who I presume is the proprietor, was upfront with us that, since we were moving at the end of the month, we might have to be flexible with the crew's arrival time. All the same, the morning of our move, the Solidarity guys arrived on the earlier side of their arrival window, and they were pleasant, professional, and quick once they got to work.The price I was quoted was ultimately what I paid, which I also appreciated. Fair warning: It can be hard to get someone from Solidarity on the phone--it seems they do most of their communication through text or email--but it ultimately wasn't a problem, and I wouldn't hesitate to use the company again. I've used them for three moves - two between boroughs, one from 1.5 hours away in New Jersey, and two with 3 stops - and they are organized, predictable, affordable, and professional to a tee. Solidarity made my move so stress-free and seamless!! They responded to my request for a quote immediately, communicated rates and their policies clearly, followed up, responded to my updates and communications quickly, and the inventory was a great guide to managing my items to be moved. When there needed to be an adjustment for the arrival time, they let me know right away. Solidarity did an excellent job moving us from Brooklyn to Westchester. They showed up on time, were quick to get things packed and in the truck. When we arrived at our new place they had to deal with walking up from the parking lot to the building, but they still manged to do everything quickly and carefully. Out of the 10+ companies I contacted, I received the best quote from Solidarity for a last minute move within Brooklyn. Another was kinda similar, but the terms were too confusing. Solidarity is so easy to work with and confirmed the time slot right away. Also, all the terms were understandable and any extra fees noted upfront (but my quote was right on - no extras incurred). I signed a lease on a new apartment in Feb 2020, for an April 1 move-in. Fast forward to late March and we're midst-pandemic. I don't know if I'm going to be able to find a company to help me move, and I don't know if my move will happen. But Zak kept me updated via email and assured me that Solidarity would be able to provide service for me. These guys really came through! First: they were freakin' fast - they got the contents of my one-bedroom apartment loaded up at the old apartment in about an hour and 20 minutes, and unloaded at the new apartment in 35 minutes. (!!!) Also: they were extremely efficient - they taped my furniture in blankets when necessary, and also taped up a huge box that I had done a lousy job securing myself. And lastly: they were friendly and kind. They made what could have been a very stressful day into an easy, efficiently-run project. To be honest, this review was a long time coming, but I'll try to keep it brief. I was moving from my first real apartment - a veritable shithole - and didn't have a damn clue. My primary contact was Zak, who responded within less than an hour to provide me with a solid, affordable quite. I ruminated over a couple of days, but the idea of moving all of my stuff away from the rats and roaches and roommates as quickly as possible seemed ideal, so I hit him up again with a date change and a downsizing, and he was totally accommodating. He kept in touch via text, and as much as stiff-tied professionalism with all the airs of formality is touted these days, talking to him was like talking to a friend, and it made the uneasiness of trusting strangers with literally everything you own in life a lot more comfortable. I moved during New York's first actually hot weekend, as luck would have it. Rio contacted me early in the morning and was more than happy to adjust to the last-minute changes in my schedule. Then, in my fanless, A/C-less 3rd floor and excellently insulated apartment, he hauled my stuff down three flights of stairs into the truck. It's also possible that I caused a little bit of damage in my excitement to leave, and Rio came prepared and fixed it, no extra charge. I had a lot more fun moving than I thought I would. We got stuck behind an ice cream truck for an eternity, and enjoyed ice cream cones while we waited. He did some next-level Tetris-style arranging of my boxes in the closet. I hired them about a month ago but still immensely satisfied with their service. Cristian went out of his way to fit me in to their busy end of the month schedule with very short notice. They were able to accommodate all of my needs and even went above and beyond to accept additional bags that I didn't plan on having moved due to not including them in the original quote. Everything arrived to my new place in a timely fashion and nothing was lost or broken. I had some cheap furniture wrapped in plastic and there wasn't even a single tear in the plastic! These folks know what they're doing! I was especially grateful for their efficiency, working me in and out of both 3rd floor walk ups in the summer heat. Moving is stressful and it can really wreck you if you aren't adequately prepared. If you're moving in NYC, don't even consider doing so without help from a solid moving company.
