I originally called him to obtain a quote but because my move was SUPER last minute, he ended up linking me with some awesome NYC movers and saved me tons of money, despite moving across the country. Best guys ever! Got into a moving bind (thought I could move everything myself at the last minute- wrong...) and Zak from Solidarity Movers totally saved the day! He showed up early, totally cheerful and with so many good ideas for an efficient, smooth moving day. I moved from Bushwick to Lefferts Gardens and was pretty nervous about the solo move- but Zak had my back. He treated all of my things with care and was totally kind- even after three flights of stairs with a queen size bed. Very reasonably priced and reliable. I highly recommend! This guy Zak is too much. Moments after I posted my review of him, he sent me an email; opened his mouth and put his foot in. These latest actions and deeds of Zak only confirm my points about the travesty of the experience I had. First, before I tell you what he just said, here is important background. My move was 2/12/20. The next day and a couple days later as well, I sent him detailed information about the disaster of his outfit, him, and my move. Every complaint I make in my review I had put forth to him in my email. As I said in the review, he responded not at all. Just as his team of movers did not return to my former apartment to check to make sure they got everything, to make sure it was fairly clean, he as the nominal head of his outfit never pursued me or tried to right any wrongs. I waited a full month before writing my review, largely because I wanted to calm down and ensure that whatever I said was posted with the distance and needs that emerge only with time. Also, I want to point out for emphatic emphasis, he never once during the course of that month expressed any desire to talk or exchange thoughts in email or correct what could be corrected. I had been enormously upset, on top of the standard stress absolutely inherent in moving. That stress was compounded and compounded, made almost intolerable, by the way he dealt with the issues outlined in my first review. As I tried to state clearly in my review, it was he and he alone who ruined the whole moving experience for me, because he conveyed no interest whatsoever in correcting the mess he had made for me. None. I stopped trying after I tried very hard, by sending him detailed emails. Now, to the present, to 3/13/20: his instant response to my review was this lengthy email in which he said he wants to discuss the review with me. In which he said he doesn't want him or me to have negative feelings about the moving experience. In which he crudely inappropriately and insensitively imposed upon a friend of mine trying to solicit her help in mediating between him and me, at the very least to initiate a conversation between him and me. It goes on and on. Really? Please! What a crock of insincerity! Where were these concerns during the move? Immediately after the move? In the days or weeks after the move? I'm sorry, but there is no desire on my part to engage in exchanges with one spouting this magnitude of hypocrisy. He says he "...wants to discuss a resolution...". These things he said to me in this email which had to appear within the first seconds after he read my review confirm everything I said about him in the review .He is irresponsible. He is unprofessional. Maybe the next time some client criticizes her experience with his outfit, he will be more attentive. He doesn't even get that the damage was already done, long ago. That he never once replied to all my emails post-move with this rapidity or "concern for resolution". Maybe potential clients will think that if he can treat someone the way he treated me, he could always treat others the same way, and probably has. The ways he is attempting to treat me, now, after my review, only underline tenfold all the points I made about him in my review. read more

Your research on finding a moving company is over! Because Solidarity is it! Praise be! Seriously... I stressed over who to hire to help us move out of a walkup and then into another walkup (during a pandemic!), and Solidarity was absolutely the right choice. Leading up to the move, there was good communication and what ended up being accurate (and reasonable) quoting. The day of, the guys arrived on time, were very professional, and just... nice people. John was awesome - he led the team seamlessly, paid attention to the details, and was really great to work with. But the part I can't stress enough is how f'ing HARD these guys work. They are EXTREMELY efficient and organized. We moved out of a 4th floor walkup and into a 5th/6th floor duplex walkup. So that's, like, a million stairs. We have a large L shaped corner sofa, a floor length mirror, queen size bed... just a crap ton of stuff that stressed me out to think about moving. But these guys know. what. they're. doing. We had zero issues (i.e. nothing damaged/dirty, no item was too tricky to get up the stairs, etc). They had all the supplies needed to prep, disassemble, and reassemble. And they did it w/ attention to detail and in amazing time. Basically, my fiance and I just tried our best to stay out of their way. They did work in 10 minutes that it would have taken the two of us hours to complete. I think the total time to move us out (from the 4th floor), pack the truck, drive to our new place, then move us in (to the 5th/6th floor), and reassemble our furniture was maybe 4 hours total. It was awesome. OH.. and it was 90+ degrees the day we moved. Just hire these guys! I don't think I've ever written a Yelp review before, but I had to write my first one now to recommend Solidarity. I'll definitely use them for our next move and will be recommending them to everyone. read more

Just moved apartments, and Solidarity Movers made the whole thing a breeze -- or as much of a breeze as moving can ever be. From booking through the days of the move, the team was really communicative and easy to work with, putting me at ease during a move that involved both lots of physical stuff and lots of logistics. Moving turned me into a total stress ball, but thankfully Solidarity Movers was around to help me move! They were super quick to respond to my frantic email asking for a quote less than two hours after I had submitted the request through their website. Zak got back to me within minutes with a quote and a thorough explanation of their policies. The move itself was quick & painless thanks to Carl & Noel! They showed up on the earlier side of the arrival window and were okay with me leaving before they finished packing up their van so I could take the subway and get to my new apartment before them. They also took three extra medium size boxes on the spot [for a small but reasonable fee]. They texted pictures of my empty room and the closed front door to let me know they were done & had locked up. On the other end they were just as friendly and fast. One box ripped open a little bit, but it was the first thing they mentioned to me & let me know that nothing was damaged. I've never used movers before, and I was pretty hesitant to pay someone else to do something that I could do with a van & a bunch of friends. These guys are GREAT! Very affordable but also extremely organized, friendly, professional, and really super experienced with all those annoying logistical things about moving in NYC that I never would have considered. Zak, the admin that I communicated with leading up to the move, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I liked that I could very carefully itemize all of my stuff very specifically online and update it as soon as 36 hours before the move as well to get an updated quote (but they we're flexible with a few day-of changes too!). I also appreciated that they were willing to just quote me a FLAT RATE (about $330!). I didn't have a *ton* of stuff, but did have (SIX) 3.5 cu ft boxes, a lamp, a TV, a medium sized table, 4 paintings, and a very large duffel bag. They moved my stuff from East Flatbush, Brooklyn to uptown Manhattan about 90 minutes away. The whole thing took just about 3 hours, and most other places I had gotten quotes from wanted to charge me hourly (usually about $150-$190/hour). Well, if these guys had charged hourly it would have cost me about $500 easily, plus I would have been sweating staring at the clock! I'm so happy that I went with these guys. I cannot emphasize how great the value is for the the price. And the friendly and professional attitude from everyone I met really put them over the top. WILL USE THEM AGAIN!!! read more

I can't rave enough about Solidarity Movers! They were the first to respond and they offered one of the cheapest quotes when I reached out to several moving companies. Plus, I wanted to support them because I appreciate the sliding scale moving they provide to community organizations. As the moving date neared they reached out to confirm my moving details and the morning of our moving day I got a text message from the foreman. So, before even meeting the folks who were moving our stuff I was already incredibly impressed by the professionalism. I made a couple of snafus on the moving day (getting to the pick-up location later than I intended to, losing the key to my storage unit) and the movers were calm and unruffled. Because of my fumbling we arrived at my new apartment at 3:06, facing a building rule that all furniture had to be moved in by 3:40. Not a problem, because the 3 movers had every single item unpacked and set up in my apartment in 30 minutes! I was stunned. Another glowing note-- even when trying to figure out how to maneuver heavy furniture or facing time crunches, the movers were incredibly kind and respectful to me and each other. Eugene handled everything for me via email and was super quick in getting back to me with a very reasonable quote - I also really appreciated that I was talking with an actual person right from the beginning rather than getting auto-emails. On my moving day, I was pretty stressed out at first (end of the month, in Brooklyn, during a pandemic... yikes), but Mike and Taj showed up and were so awesome right off the bat that I actually had a good time chatting with (and probably bothering) them while they were at my apartment! They were efficient but also clearly careful and skilled and I didn't worry about any of my belongings with them for a second. I used Solidarity for my move from Greenwich, Connecticut to Port Chester, New York. I was moving from a 1 bedroom apartment in a very old building with a small elevator to a 1 bedroom apartment in a very new building with a large elevator. As others have mentioned, the owner Zak makes the planning and booking process very convenient. He communicates quickly via text, phone call, or e-mail (you tell him your preference). Everything is above-board, no hidden fees - you just send him your inventory, with the ability to update it up until 36 hours before your move to get a new price quote. He was by far the most reachable/accessible owner/manager of any moving company I interacted with during the planning process for my move. The price I was quoted was fair based on the local market rates, which are a bit more expensive than I was used to after spending most of the past 10 years in various other states. Zak however encouraged me to solicit estimates from his competitors and said he would try to match anyone who underbid him, but no other company's estimate was cheaper than Solidarity's number, so I hired them. The moving team of Brian and Mustafa arrived early within the arrival time window. Typically in the past, I've had 3 men help with moves, but the move went reasonably quickly despite only having two men on the job. Brian and Mustafa were friendly and polite but were very businesslike in their approach, with virtually no small talk. Disassembly of my bed was difficult because of a difficult-to-unscrew connection, but Brian was patient and solved the issue rather than rushing through to save time. I should mention I was quoted a set price for the whole move beforehand rather than an hourly rate, and it was nice to go through this process knowing exactly how much this would cost in the end. At the end of the move, I was charged exactly what I was quoted beforehand. All in all, I've decided to award Solidarity Movers a 5-star review because they do everything either as well or better than their competition. They're far more accessible than other companies in terms of communication, they're cheaper than other companies, and yet, they are either just as effective or more effective with the actual moving process. Absolutely amazing! I was nervous when I reached out and they quoted me a price $50 less than the lowest I'd received in my search. But the adage, you get what you pay for, didn't apply here--well not in the context it's used in; I definitely got my money's worth, though. The company was very communicative up until the move and after. Making sure I knew all details and that I was satisfied. They sent 2 guys to move me from one room to another, and they both were very professional and capable. Also, my bed had been squeaking for months and I thought it was just getting old. Come to find out, the last movers I had never put it together properly. So I'm very grateful Solidarity took the time to get it right.
