The new countertops were installed on the date they promised and even called to move up the scheduled installation date if we were open to that change. Todd from Solo was very responsive to our emails and answered all questions. The installers were skilled and paid great attention to details. Our new countertops are gorgeous. Solo Tile has a contract with Costco. We put our trust in Solo Tile that if it's from Costco, it must be good - WRONG. If anything we learned from this remodel, is we will NEVER use a contractor through Costco. This was our first and only kitchen remodel in 17 years. We put our trust in Solo only to have our dreams crushed. If anything I learned, I lost my trust in contractors. I contacted Solo through the Costco brochure. It actually took a few weeks to get a response that I called Costco. I think Joe was upset that I did that. He came out, took measurements and showed us some samples. We locked in on a few samples and then scheduled a visit to their showroom. We received the quote, signed the contract and on our way. Went to the showroom, selected our countertop and locked it in. I paid the full amount ahead of the installation. When I was scheduling with the scheduler, she told me the cabinets should go ahead of the countertop. I trusted the scheduler only to find that's not true. No one questioned the scheduler on why she recommended that. This resulted in a return trip with our cabinet installer to fix their work and pay extra. The day of the installation, no one showed. I called to question it and it was pushed to the afternoon, then I looked at the quote and questioned it and they stopped the installation. I paid the full amount ahead of the installation. The one thing to check is the quote. I ended up questioning it through Costco and it delayed my installation by a week because it was laid out like this: Charge for the material, minus the discount equals the total price. What I actually paid was the material cost, because the $1,042 "discount" was my Costco Shop card and Executive membership savings. They want you to believe it's a savings, but all I got was a Costco gift card. Just because I questioned this, the work was pushed another week. Our counters are pretty, but the installation was satisfactory. There were a lot of gaps underneath because the counters should have been installed first. Two big items that stand out from the installation: 1) There is a seam that is visible. It doesn't show on pictures, but if you run your fingernail across it you can feel it. Joe doesn't think it's a problem because we signed off on the paperwork. 2) The sink hole was too large. We realized the installers were anxious to leave, got the sink in there and got me to sign off. What we found out later was when the sink was to be secured, it wasn't latching. For the next few weeks, we went through three different sinks to find a fit, consulted with plumbers and everyone suggested new slab. I spoke to a work contractor who told me to get a filler and it it worked. The lesson learned is to place the paper template for the sink over the hole. It should not fall through. I'm sure if we KNEW to do that at sign off, the template would have fallen through the hole and I wouldn't have signed off. Another thing was we were recommended a backsplash contractor through Joe at Solo but then I got a call from the contractor that he had been released from the job and it was total drama. Another guy called to say he would come in to finish the job, but then he went MIA. This was too sketchy and we dropped both of them because they lost our trust. Overall, I cannot recommend Solo Tile. If you do, schedule your counters before your cabinets and check your sink template before final sign off. I didn't go with my instincts to go with someone else when we never got a response the first time and that is my one regret. The Costco effect may have made it great for their business, but for us, this was a nightmare. read more

We had new quartz countertops/backsplash purchased through Costco's Rep Todd in 2023 and were very pleased with his knowledge and professionalism. The Solo Tile crew did an awesome job with removing the old countertops, made templates and installed the new countertops within a week! We were very impressed and have enjoyed our countertops. Unfortunately, my wife hit the counters edge with a dinner plate creating a chip! I emailed Todd in the evening and he immediately responded with an email to Mayra the next day to schedule a repair. There was a charge which was understandable due to it being our fault. The crew did a great job repairing the chip restoring our countertops beautifully! I recently had new countertops installed and couldn't be happier with the results. The team was efficient, courteous, and highly skilled. They handled the demolition with great care and completely cleaned up all the debris -- I didn't have to lift a finger. Complete waste of 1.5 months and horrendous attitude towards simple questions. Solo Tile is the subcontractor for Lowe's and apparently the two parties have no idea what the other is doing or how anything works between the two. Both parties refuse to communicate with each other and will leave the customer to play phone tag between the two AND the goddamn countertop fabricator. I had a friend recommend I checkout Home Depot to get my kitchen countertop installed and I ended up price comparing with Lowe's to see if there were better deals. HD came in at $11k for my small kitchen and two bathroom vanities, while Lowe's told me they could install everything for $8.7k. Sounded like a great deal so I paid the deposit and waited for Solo to contact me. After they got in touch, they said they couldn't send out anyone to come measure for 3.5 weeks, which was fine since the remodel had already been ongoing for a year. An extra 3 weeks wouldn't be a huge issue. David came over at the specified appointment time and was courteous and professional. My wife wanted to change the bathroom vanity quartz to a different color and David said it would be slightly more since the minimum sq footage for orders was 25 (which would only be a few hundred dollars more). After this point, is where the issue started. Mayra emailed me and said the new pricing would be $11.2k which was WAAAAAY higher than what I was expecting compared to the original quote. I asked her why it was so much higher and she said she had no idea and to call Lowe's to ask. (Lowe's is impossible to reach via phone in a timely manner) At that point, my wife agreed that it would be best just to stick to the original scheme and pay the $8.7 instead so I told Mayra to simply switch back to the original plan for single color across all rooms. She reverted the quote and it came out to $11.3k!??!? I called her to ask why it was 30% higher than what I was quoted and she said "I don't know. You probably have more square footage then what's shown in the drawings" which is 100% not true. I installed the cabinets myself and everything is up to spec down to the millimeter. She then again deferred to Lowe's and told me to call them. We were still willing to work with them at this point since pricing was on par with Home Depot still, and my wife wanted to switch back to the two color scheme since it was CHEAPER and what she wanted. I spoke with Mayra and could already tell she was frustrated with the switch back, but since I had no answers from both parties as to why pricing was 30% higher I pressed for whatever information she did have. The updated pricing back to the two tone scheme then came out to $11.7k!!! $500 dollars more than it was a mere 24 hours ago with absolutely no changes on our end. I asked her why she couldn't change it back to the $11.2k which was shown just yesterday and she flatly replied with "You're not the only customer I'm dealing with." Yea no shit genius. Do you think I enjoy wasting my time getting non answers from you that you're suppose to have? I'm trying to figure out how I could be priced so utterly incorrectly and why even determining new pricing requires a quantum computer. You've provided me with zero information on how pricing works and why it's fluctuating so wildly when the base input has not changed at all. Cancelled the Lowe's contract immediately after and went back to my old contractor who did our countertops at our old home. Pricing was only $8.9k for the same Silestone quartz and he came out to measure same day and installed in less than 2 weeks. read more

They didn't offer to fix and left before we could say anything. Update: we called our contractor friend who confirmed they didn't even appropriately seal the sink and that there are gaps. Do NOT do business with these unprofessional staff! Bought from Lowe's and this company is contracted for install. After 5 weeks they have not even done the measurements or templating. Dave the manager actions is rude, sharp and unprofessional. Davd demanded me to remove and demo existing countertop before they can even measure. Leaving me without kitchen for unknown number of weeks. After talking to other companies this is the only one that does this behavior After going back and forth and escalation to Lowe's. Project is DOA and never started. Getting a professional decency to follow up is such impossible task along with argumentative response. 5 weeks in and I don't even have measurement scheduled or done from this firm. We went through Costco and Todd from Solo Tile & Stone came out to do the initial quote. He was prompt and walked us through the process. He was upfront about the 8 week wait, and scheduled our demo and install. The guys showed up for demo and were professional and communicative. One downside is that we had to wait a week between demo and install which was not fun. It would have been better to have a smaller window between the two so we could get our plumber out, but considering the savings we dealt with it. The installers were the same guys who did the demo which was great. All in all it was a good value and we are happy with our purchase. On the day of install, crew arrived a bit later than promised. They protected floors and were very careful when installing. I wish they used less smelly chemicals for cleanup. Have 2 seams, one looks good and the other not so great. But I'm not a specialist and could be just picky as to how it looks. Overall, I'm happy with my countertop. My journey began several months ago when I had to replace my kitchen cabinets due to water damage from years ago. The house is very old and nothing had been updated for 50+ years. First off the guys who did the work were great they truly installed the countertop as if it was their own home they were wonderful. But the woman on the phone had a tone like she was being bothered really a no care vibe. After about a month goes by they finally came out and measured, and said the install would be 4 to 6 weeks out I said that's ridiculous Lowes drag their asses as well, so that meant we had to do Thanksgiving with no sink or countertops, then, i called 3 days before the install it was Nov 6th, and was told by the same woman that someone canceled the install !!!! and it would have to wait for an install on Feb 7 so now Christmas and Thanksgiving no sink, dishwasher, & countertop. They get all these jobs through Lowes and over book themselves and make bank, and you have to wait, we live in Monterey county, so why can't Lowes hire someone local instead of someone from Hayward, that's a horrible drive for the Guys, who were they only ones that really cared, Solo worst customer service as is Lowes, maybe pay the $300.00 and you can have these reviews hidden .... STAY AWAY from SOLO TILES & STONE Inc.! As an IKEA subcontractor they installed our new CAESAR STONE kitchen countertop and badly messed up. During the installation they moved our sink from its original spot. Result: Our customized drawer doesn't fit in its original spot underneath the sink anymore. SOLO TILES & STONE Inc acknowledged the issue they created but claims IKEA would have to pay for resolving the issue. IKEA claims SOLO TILES & STONE Inc needs to pay because they created the issue. Result: BAD COSTUMER SERVICE because we are left with hiring and paying someone to fix the issue that SOLO TILES & STONE created as IKEA subcontractor. And that is after paying thousands of dollars for a new kitchen countertop. Update after Solo Tiles response: Hello Felipe, You forgot to mention that Solo Tiles returned in a second trip and acknowledged the issue but said that IKEA should take on the responsibility and pay for it.... And yes, the countertop looks nice, I just would have preferred to enjoy it without the hassle, fruitless phone calls, and extra pay. read more

I found Solo Tile&Stone through Costco. I had had other home improvement projects through Costco and always trusted the quality and value and the peace of mind with Costco backing. Todd at Solo has been very responsive and the whole quote and project went through smoothly via email exchange, probably talk on phone a few times to clarify and he is always helpful. As my project went so well and kitchen looks great wife and I are quite happy. I want to share a few tips if you are thinking of this project. The most important part is picking your stone. Like anything Costco, there is not much point shopping around for price. There is a showroom for the stone at union city. It needs appointment to go inside the warehouse but actually the showroom is open to public walk-in with lot more samples. Strongly recommend going to showroom in person, highly recommend with wife -- you can't find the right stone with computer screen and honestly can skip the warehouse visit altogether. Once you limit down your choice, there is only one thing to think about-- how tall the backsplash should be. I would say go up to cabinets, it is worth the extra money. Another lesson I learn, and I almost screw up, the sink, always pick undermount. Top mount just looks terrible and I suspect easily leak. This I have to thank Solo guy for helping to make the right choice on the spot, esp boss David. The workers had to FaceTime him a few time to get the right solution. Another important thing: air gap for dishwasher. I forgot that completely when replacing the new sink. Solo only agree to come afterwards to drill a hole on stone but won't drill through metal even after I waive their liability. There I have a half hole which is useless and still don't know what to do. I would've give a five star otherwise. Anyway this is really my own fault, so either get a sink with airgap hole or have it drilled before installation, then you would be happy throughout. A side note, don't had them haul out your old sink In the demolition day, keep it around as you might need some adapter for pipes which is a pain to find sometimes. read more

I've been working with Solo Tile and Stone for years as an interior designer. They are a Caesarstone partner, and I trust the quality of their work. They recently did my kitchen, and were considerate and thorough in their templating and installation. This involved non-standard counters (2.5"), full backsplash, a bar counter, a very deep counter sill, and multiple transitions. They consulted me about the cuts that I advised were design-critical, and installed beautifully as scheduled. Throughout, they've been responsive, professional, and courteous. I bought my countertop through IKEA and Solo Tile and Stone did the install. Every step of the process was professional and well done. I had several delays and had to reschedul-- Solo was flexible. At one point I had to talk to David (the owner) and he was extremely accommodating. When the day came for the install, their crew was quick, clean, professional, and nice. The countertops looked amazing and my husband and I couldn't even find the seam. Beyond that, I'm compelled to write this review because today I called to see if they could shave off 1/4" next to the fridge because my fridge just arrived and needed a little wiggle room to really fit. Their receptionist was extremely helpful, and she booked her crew to come out within a FEW HOURS. I know that's just the luck of the schedule, but wow. Daniel and Jose came, and did a fantastic job (like, really over and beyond). Not only did they shave the 1/4" off without chipping the backsplash, they also pried and trimmed the baseboard so the fridge could wedge right in and fit like a glove. They didn't have to do that extra step, and it only took a few extra minutes, but they did and it made my day. I am one happy customer. read more

Writing on behalf of my client. Said they would show up between 8-9am. Didn't show up until 1030am without even a phone call to let my client know they would be late. Where to begin. Used two slabs with different thicknesses which resulted in an unlevel counter because once the top surfaces were even, the bottom surfaces were not! They used a ton of shims that left huge gaps between the cabinets and counter. Didn't seal the undermount sink correctly there were huge gaps in the caulk. Left a complete mess all over the job site, razor blades were left on the ground, fine quartz dust left all over the underside of the counter, construction adhesive dripping down into the cabinets, cleaning agent stains all over my client's sliding glass door and personal items, list goes on. Complete hack job by workers that were out late partying the night before, and didn't want to miss lunch, so they hurried the job and it shows. Would not recommend and would never use in the future. Unfortunately if you buy your counters through Ikea you are at the mercy of these guys. Hire at your own risk. read more

Absolute worst company I've ever worked with in my life. I am not one to leave reviews and is the first negative review I've ever written. After a missed appointment for measuring, the receptionist screened my calls and wouldn't pick up to reschedule. When I called from another number, my phone call was dropped. The reason the appointment was missed was due to the lack of a thirty minute courtesy call that was guaranteed to be provided at time of service. I confirmed this with the receptionist due the very large window of time provided. When they came back the second time, they called me 8 minutes prior to arrival. They never got back to me on installation after the appointment. I had to get a hold of ikea to contact them, only to find out they were no longer installing my countertops. They refused because of the back and forth arguments that were had about an additional 225 trip charge for the missed appointment. When ikea called them they said they provided a 30 minute courtesy call, and when questions about why they lied, they didn't seem to have an answer. Nor would they call Ike's back and set the record straight. Do not use them, they are absolutely terrible!! read more
