I have had my Norelco shaver for a number of years. Since I have sensitive skin, it has been my go to brand from the time that I started shaving. In less than an hour, my shaver was as good as new. I finally received my shaver just after Christmas. Shaver works OK, but would not say better than new. It was repair using only genuine parts, no Chinese junk, so that is a plus. The time it took is still unacceptable in this world of "right now", but at least I have it back. Great service, by a classic New York character. We need more of these places: repair shops, so we don't throw everything out and small businesses, so we aren't bored with bland service. I had my kitchenAid stand mixer professional assessed for $35, and repaired for $130 more. (The assessment fee is used toward the cost of repair, should you take them up on it.) They were friendly and helpful and appreciated my curiousity about how the KitchenAid blender I had taken in broke. They also gave me quite a few tips on how to avoid any issues in the future. I was extremely pleased with the fast, courteous service I received from Solomon's. My Kitchenaid mixer made by Hobart needed repair and I was reluctant to give up on my 35 year old machine. Picked it up within a week and it works like a charm. It was worth the tank of gas...plus we made an afternoon of it and stopped at Spumoni Gardens to drop off my machine and on the pick up we ate at Lioni's and bought pastries at Villa Abate since Sal mozzarella told us to. This place is a hidden gem! I had a Kitchenaid food processor that I knew could be fixed by someone who knew what they were doing (aka -- not me by a long shot). Brought it in and they were able to fix it in less than a minute. Best customer experience I've ever had. Rather than throw the food processor into the landfill, give Amazon more money, clog up our roads with more delivery trucks, I was able to walk out with a completely repaired food processor from the only place in town that can still fix small appliances. I took two different kitchen appliances to Solomon's today. The first was a Kitchenaid stand mixer which was showing signs of a small oil leak. The gentleman behind the counter aksed a few questions and determined that there was most likely not a problem. He urged me to keep my money, including what would have been a $30.00 deposit, and wait to see if the problem persisted. The second appliance was a broken cusinart immersion blender, he honestly told me that it was going to cost more money to repair than to buy a new blender of vastly superior quality. I certainly appreciate the honesty shown here, not just taking my money and giving me the same answers in a week. I have had other stand mixers repaired here as well with great service and reliable workmanship. No problem giving Solomon's five stars. read more

This establishment is the true meaning of a hidden gem! I've been using their services for little over 10 years and the services get better every single time. Recently, I brought in a Kitchen Aid mixer for servicing. After picking it up, I got home and it wouldn't start. I brought it back with no resistance from Bruce, he says "I'll call when it's ready." After a few days, Bruce calls and tells me we're replacing the motor for free. The business I've given in the last five years probably doesn't cover the motor. Unfortunately, I'm having the same bad experience as others. BEWARE of this shop. I, too, was referred by an appliance manufacturer to use this shop. All I wanted was a battery replacement. I called the shop and explained I simply needed to replace the battery. Just wanted a rough idea of what one costs so I could determine if a repair was worthwhile - he made me twice look up model number and then some other details. Each time I called back, he asked for yet more details. Several phone calls later, he tells me he can't give me a ballpark idea for replacing the battery because its a complex item, has many circuit boards, and a host of reasons why its not possible to share a ballpark idea of a battery replacement..... We discussed the issue and decided to take a chance with a $25 deposit and sent the item in. Over two months later, I'd heard nothing. A few weeks ago, I called in and was told they are just getting to my item. The owner assured me they'd call back in a few days with an estimate. Have not heard from him since. I did call him again two weeks ago and he put me on hold indefinitely - after 15 minutes on hold, I gave up. Have called back several times over the past two weeks and no one answers the phone. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE - I'm convinced the place is a sham and, at best, the owner is downright difficult to deal with (for those of you who can actually get him to answer a phone). I was referred to Solomons by Phillips/Norelco when my shaver failed. Contacted them in July 2018, and sent them my shaver with $25 fee. They said it would cost $125 to repair the shaver. I sent them a check, which they cashed. Since then I have followed up with them over ten times. Each time I get a different story as to why the shaver is still not fixed. Parts shortage, order delay, etc etc. One time they even said it had been shipped, but UPS said the tracking number was invalid. Bottom line: It is now over two years, and my shaver still has not been returned. They have a different excuse every time I call. Horrible service; horrible company. well,once again we have had to call Solomons for our long lost Norelco shaver. My husband mailed it to them in April of 2018 along with $25.00 We have called at least 5 times, and everytime we call we get a story.We also. sent $116.00 as we were assured that it needed repairs and it would be just like new when we got it back. Who knows when.that will be. We called again today Dec 3, 2018 and now we were told that they are waiting for a part thats coming from all places......HOLLAND! This store is run as if it's 1955. They say that they do not use any computers and issue printed receipts only. I visited the store in April 2019 for some vacuum cleaner filters which were not in stock (a journey of almost 2 hours from my home). They took a $50 deposit. It is now January 2020 and they still don't have them in stock. I called asking for my deposit back as I have bought a new vacuum cleaner and they will not send me my deposit back until I post the original receipt back to them! They do not have email and wouldn't accept a scanned copy by text! After 9 months of waiting they wouldn't make any exceptions to this archaic policy. I had a fantastic experience at SAC on 6/17/17. I had the pleasure of meeting Bruce and he was just amazing. I had to come all the way from New Jersey and we ran into crazy traffic getting there. I showed up at 2:09pm on a Saturday (they close at 2pm) and he was sweet enough to let me stay and show him my busted Kitchen Aid mixer. I was expecting to leave the mixer there but he had his team look at it right away since I came from so far away. He had my entertained with hilarious stories about customers and I even got to experience a whackadoodle customer while waiting. 90 minutes later, I walked out with my mixer and a Mr. Coffee Iced Tea maker! The cost was fair and worth the trip and the wait. I couldn't believe he stayed open to do this for me. Talk about customer service! Couple tips: 1. If you are bringing your Kitchen Aid mixer, bring the bowl and paddle. I forgot mine and trust me, if I have to come back, I'll never forget it again :-) Bruce was forgiving and luckily he had both that were compatible for my model in the shop, thank God. 2. Don't be snobby or rude. Bruce is the nicest guy and should have his own reality show. You are walking into a shop that is rare, respect that and you'll have a great experience. 3. If you need to talk to someone, call Monday-Friday, they don't answer the phone on Saturdays. 4. Listen to Bruce and follow the instructions. Bring cash, bring your ticket, take his advice on your item. If you do these things, you'll be recommending this place to everyone you know. Have a good summer Bruce! read more

Worst customer service! I wanted to service my kitchen aid stand mixer. I called several times to find out their opening hours and an estimate of costs which they were unable to give me over the phone. They said that I would have to come in and speak to the man at the counter, despite the fact that I told them it would take me an hour to drive to them. When I got there he told me they were a cash business only and did not accept credit cards and that I would have to prepay $75 for a preliminary inspection of my mixer . I did not have enough cash on me and told him I could mail him a check and he could hold my mixer as collateral which he refused to do. Finally he said he would do it but not even look at my machine until the check cleared and that by the way, they were closing for vacation next week and I would not get my mixer back for 3-4 weeks. I felt very uneasy and decided not to leave my mixer. I was also irritated that none of this information was conveyed to me over the phone, despite the fact that I had called multiple times. The counter person was obnoxious and belligerent and when I said I was going to leave a bad review on yelp he said " fine I'll do it for you" and as I went to put my mixer on the counter top he laughed as said " Forget it, that's extortion!" Horrible experience, horrible sales person and a filthy dirty little store. Would never recommend!! read more

I have used this business before and HAD gotten satisfactory service, I thought. After my last visit earlier this year I will never go back there. I took an electric razor to be repaired (he always says the unit is "good model") and he took it in back and apparently fiddled with it. Returning he said there was a crack in the head housing, gave me a magnifying glass to look at it. I knew it was like this all the time. He quoted me a price for 2 parts to fix it and as usual said I would get a break in price. Since now I was skeptical I just walked out. I ordered the parts elsewhere and found them to be in the same condition as what he told me was "cracked". I got the parts for much less than he quoted me and found that I really only needed to replace one part. I am now in need of another repair and will do anything to stay away from this liar. read more

I should have been alerted when Bruce would not give me a rough estimate of repair charges for my Kitchen-Aid mixer or the turn-around time. We shipped it in with a $75 dollar fee for diagnoses. A couple of weeks later we sent another $225 as full payment for the repair. Almost a month later we were told that the mixer was repaired, but due to an error in addition we owed another $65 . That was two weeks ago and despite many phone calls and an hour or more on hold, there is still no word on when or if ever we will get our mixer back. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. For beginners there is NO signage that says he does not accept debit or credit. So it's by word of mouth that he accepts cash only. Okay Good. Now I go to retrieve my item and I have the cash that I just withdrew from the bank. And here it comes, he says he does not like how one of the $20 bill looks like - R U FKG kidding me. So he tells me to go and see if I can make change if the bill, but yet I'm with my 94 year old grandmother and it was to pay him $42.60 and I gave him 3 (three) 20's. I only wanted to purchase a battery,Owner wouldn't sell it to me,.declaring he wanted $25 to see if there is a problem. I didn't have a problem but he still wouldn't sell it .Acted like they're the only game in town.VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Found a battery on line it blew out my razor. Found out by calling Norelco that the battery is irreplaceable,"once battery goes shaver goes as well." The battery is attached to the razor's motherboard. Don't do it! Repairs are poor! Bruce makes sure to tell you time and again that he's an honest guy and says your equipment will be "good as new" but my friend and I took a total of three machines and two broke within two weeks of picking them up. When we took them back, Bruce crossed out the warranty and said it would not be valid per the new repair slip but to refer to the original slip--so we asked that he please note that the original was valid and he refused. This seemed highly suspect and it turns out that when he called about the two second-time repairs he would only fix one. He said there was a new problem with the second that hadn't been there the first time--LESS THAN A MONTH BEFORE! Service is a genuine issue at Solomon's as the phone is never answered (even when returning a call regarding your item) and prices are not accurately quoted when you will be required to pay in cash. I showed up with the exact amount of cash stated by Bruce and was told there were added taxes (not previously disclosed) and that I would not get my machine unless I completed the total -- fine, but the full fees should have been included in the total. And yes, you will not only spend time reaching the location, but you will be forced to listen to the owner, Bruce, chat AT you endlessly. He will tell you what you're doing wrong with your machines that you are paying him to fix. Seems like everyone has covered the attitude of the owner, but I would add that he is accusatory and seemingly unethical--hiding behind paperwork to mask shoddy repair jobs. The experience speaks for itself three machines brought in at one time and two broken after fewer than three NORMAL uses in less than a month! read more

DO NOT BRING OR INQUIRE ABOUT KITCHEN AID Awful Customer Service!!! I would give it a ZERO! I called to order a simple part for my Kitchen Aid Mixer and wasn't exactly sure what it was called so I was describing the location and every single time I was just about to say "yes thats the one!" I was put on hold! I was put on hold 6 times each for over 2-3min. So finally I was speaking to someone who was rude as hell but knew what part I was talking about. So he says 29.95 for the part and I argued with him at first realizing he is charging me 10% of the overall cost of my machine for a part thats purely decorative, but I said fine, I don't care, just get this nightmare over with. He said just send him a check in the mail and I'll receive my part in about ten days. I only have credit card I told him and said he doesn't accept credit cards! He also said he was the "Peter Luger" of appliances and that people come from all over the world to bring their appliances to them. I replied with "so that allows you to treat people like shit?" He said he can treat people like shit if he wanted to because like he said "he is the Peter Lugers of appliances". I've dined at Peter Luger's plenty of times and have never been treated like shit. I almost vomited when this man was talking. So man with the girly man voice I hope your reading this and I hope you share it with your boss and tell them how I made all this up and that THATS NOT TRUE!! but I don't feel like I'm the only one who feels like this. Alright, first thing's first: Solomon's Repair Center isn't a boutique or a tea lounge. It's a repair shop. You go there to get things fixed. That's what I went there to do and that's what got done. I feel like there's this bizarre expectation by some folks in my generation to enjoy some high level of congeniality even when it serves no functional purpose at the business in question. If I were going to a hotel, yeah, smile and wave and all that, but when I have gone to Solomon's, I don't expect a kiss on the cheek. They fix things, and in my experience, they fix things well. As forewarned by the multiple negative reviews I chose to take a chance with this appliance shop. Wow was this a mistake! Please don't use them, It is currently 90 days since I took my two items there and with zero call backs I feel that they are not doing anything constructive with the deposits that I left. I have called them six times about every two weeks to find out the progress of the repairs. They have given me the same run around about estimates and miss shipped parts for three months now. Don't make the same mistake that I made by trusting that a business that has been around that long would be able to fix two minor problems with equipment. The guy working had my blender fixed in less than 10 minutes. He also gave me a lesson how to blend that would stop damaging by blender. In a nutshell. I hate looking for repair places. It's always tough to know if you're getting good quality, an honest price, etc., but Solomon's is really solid. I brought in a KitchenAid mixer from the 1970s, and the rep warned me that it might take a while to track down the parts but that it would be like new. I got the impression that it would take several weeks. It took six months, but he was right. It now runs well and even more quietly than I remember. The only thing keeping this from being a 5-star review is the long turn-around time without any updates (I called a couple times in the intervening months). Regarding the reviews about rudeness, the main desk guy there is a good guy. He's not going to give you a customer-is-always-right bend-over-backwards-for-you attitude, but he's honest and straightforward. Speak nicely to him, and he does the same. read more

The counter service is good and if you are there to look for parts,they are great at having items for old appliances which might be obsolete, but they take advantage with high prices because they know you can not get it anywhere else. also last minute surprise is that it is a cash only business.
