What can I say about Boris and his team at SoloMotorsports that hasn't already been said? Nothing really.... These guys are absolutely top notch and honest; a rare combo for mechanics in general and especially in the Atlanta area. The head unit on my 2010 Passat malfunctioned, and needed to be replaced. Since it was covered under warranty, I took it to Jim Ellis VW on Peachtree Industrial. What a nightmare that turned out to be! After picking up the car, I saw that even though I had new head unit in there, nothing worked (except FM radio); no GPS, no rearview camera, no Bluetooth...NOTHING. Any VW owner knows, popping in a new head unit on a VW is child's play....but getting it to work is a whole other thing. So back my car went to Jim Ellis VW......but after nearly a week of back-and-forth (and the time wasted "hanging out" at Jim Ellis VW), I finally called it quits, and asked them to put my old head unit in so that I could get it fixed by someone else. After reading reviews on Yelp, I decided to give SoloMotorsports a try; and I thank my lucky stars that I did. Yes, the process did take a bit longer than at Jim Ellis VW; warranty companies prefer working with crooks like Jim Ellis VW, and therefore getting replacement parts takes time. But once the part arrived, I got a call from Boris. Boris's guys pulled my car in within 15 minutes of my getting there, and in about 1.5 hours, I was done. EVERYTHING worked! Hi,my name is SchnellRot and I'm an M3 and my driver has brought me to Solo Motorsports for years now. Oh he tried to pacify me with other shops through the years but my parts were never comfortable with those people. Oh how Driver man bitched every time we left the shops. He would jam the gears in frustration! I always new I deserved better. He wanted better and so did I. Then one day he drove up behind and below these buildings. It was strange. Oh I was nervous but once my bonnet opened up I knew I was in heaven. And so did driver man. These guys knew their shit! They were honest, talented and fair. And they love Bimmers [oh OK, other German cars too just as much]. So excited about the new shop that I nearly blew an engine! Correction. I did blow an engine! What happened after that I'll never forget. Driver man could have easily cast me away and I would be a square heap of metal in a junk yard somewhere. But no! He loved me! They loved me! They said they could make me better. Faster. More awesomer than ever! And they did! In the shop I went. And it was nice. Clean, organized and they relaxed me with soothing sounds to the likes of Rammstein, Tiesto, Pendulum and more. It was dark there for a while but I was told the old E36 325is engine had been removed along with many other parts. I awoke as an pseudo M3 with an S52! Holy shit WTF happened?!! This was the beginning of a great life together. Oh they continued to pull out the old shit in me and replace it with bad-ass M3 replacements! Every time we went there we left faster, louder, handled curves better, looked better and raced better! We are so happy now that the boys outside my bonnet have taken care of us. Driver man always pets my dashboard now and I feel we are forever together. And I know as long as we keep going to Solo it will be a lasting happiness. I have over 320,000 miles on me now and would never have made it this far if it wasn't for Driver man pulling behind those buildings and introducing me to the guys outside my bonnet. Right low beam malfunction error popped up on my 2011 BMW X5D. Called the delaership (wont name the 1 of the 2 in ATL) xenon bulb part alone $280. Went to said dealership told me $500 to install. Called a few non dealership shops for price quotes. Called up these guys (Solo) and they had the lowet quote. Same day in less than 1 hour changed the bulb for $165 total, parts included. Everyone there was super cool, and the guy who changed the bulb, David, had some of the best conversation i have had in quite a while. Oh. My. Gah. This place was AH-MAZING. I mean, read the other reviews if you don't believe me. I have a 2012 VW Golf (plain and boring model, but fun nonetheless). It was time for my 40k service and I really didn't feel like disrespecting my bank account (again) by going to the dealer, plus as a small business owner myself, I'm all about supporting another small biz. I had 2 other places that were recommended by friends to call. Solo blew them all away. To the point where I repeated the price back to him twice before making the appointment and hanging up. I wasn't expecting much from the shop/waiting area, but considering how much I was saving, I really didn't care. Again, I was surprised! The place itself was very clean, the staff polite and the waiting area was really nice. They even had comfy chairs, free wifi, single serve coffee, sodas, bottled water and freaking doughnuts! These guys are really excellent. I get my Mercedes' Oil changed here, and on a whim, I called about tires. Ian had an awesome price on a set of summer tires from Continental. Got them mounted and balanced, and the guys even put my spare, jack, and lug wrench back where it belongs! Thw waiting area is comfy and clean with coffee, soda and water, and a TV with a decent cable package. Always car magazines on the coffee table, and if you're lucky, they'll be making a dyno pass on their E30 BMW!! I didn't need the TV! So far, the work has been done extremely well, at a good price. I had my car towed to them due to a flat tire which I had received from them approx 11 months ago. I previously had locking lug nuts on all of my tires (4), but somehow the lugs & key are now missing, which is a mystery to me because the last place my car had the tires removed was when they replaced them here 11 months ago and I always left the lug key in my trunk with the spare tire. When I went to pick my car up after approx 2 weeks I was told that there were not any locking lug nuts on my car & no key was found. My car has not been to any other shops & I know that I had the lugs on all 4 tires & the key to them in my trunk. As I said previously, it is a mystery to me, but they don't have to worry about me returning. read more

I just bought an 05 BMW 325i as the 3rd owner, and I had some serious concerns about the 2nd owner's neglect of the car's mechanical maintenance once the 1st owner's free maintenance with BMW ran out. I had no intention of going to the dealerships to get this car back up to spec, because frankly the dealerships are in dream land when it comes to pricing out various work. But then you have the other extreme of taking a german car to some moron mechanic-in-a-box where they'll either break more than they fix intentionally or they'll break more than they fix because they know how to work on a Kia, Honda or Chevy Tahoe, so they think that this also qualifies them to know how to work on a BMW (no offense to the Chevy or Kia owners) ;) Back to my story, I researched a LOT of Atlanta mechanics who were BMW specialists (among also being German car specialists in general ie. Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, etc.). I was "almost" about to go to a competitor of Solo Motorsports near the area, but after having been ignored by the other BMW specialty shop nearby (the other place almost acted snobby and defensive towards my line of questioning when I was putting feelers about their capabilities and pricing), I then decided to give Solo Motorsports a try. Best intuition I've ever had when it comes to car mechanics. When you first come over to check out their shop, you initially notice they're a group of young guys, and start wondering in your head if they're as good as the grampa mechanics you would run into who are in their 40's or 50's and have been doing this for 30 years. Let me tell you something here as a REAL customer and without even exaggeration. These guys know the anatomy of any BMW, Porsche or Audi better than you yourself know your own body. Immediately when you start talking to them more and more, you can tell this isn't just a job for them, this is what they live and breath as a passion. While other shops may do the routine brakes, oil change, suspension work, blah blah blah, these guys can make rebuilding a BMW motor from scratch (if needed) look as easy as you or I doing our laundry. No joke. They're the real deal, and they have that perfect balance between competent gifted mechanics in the back of the house, with a no b.s. honest and strait forward owner (Boris) in the front of the house, who won't gouge you, make up fake stories about your car, try to upsell you on crap just to make more money, or any of that other crap drama you can easily run into with other mechanics who "claim" they know how to work on German cars. This was a long write-up, but very much earned. I'm one of those OCD customers where I pay attention to every little damn detail in how they do the work, the pricing, their honesty and so on. So far, I've piece-mealed all the different things my 325i needed after much neglect from the previous owner. We've done an engine flush, replaced the nasty fuel filter that never got replaced, professionally cleaned out the fuel and air-intake systems with those AWESOME pro-grade "BG" brand products that you can't even buy in a regular auto-store, replaced the spark plugs, replaced undercarraige pieces that got dented and ripped, and I'm not even done yet. I'm still going to come back to them for a brake job, brake fluid flush and future suspension upgrades. They can pretty much handle anything you throw at them. Whether it's a simple oil change all the way up to some serious engine or transmission work that you should ONLY trust someone who works on BMW's every day, they make this stuff look like an art, and to them, it actually IS an art. There's no need to go anywhere else in Atlanta if you own a BMW, Porsche, Audi, VW and so on, I know this for sure now, after being there a few times and getting a feel for who they are. read more

I was having a noise issue under the passenger side of my 328i and it almost sounded like my wheels were loose and about to come off. This had been an ongoing problem and I took it to the dealer several times and they never found an issue. I went in for a regular service, and to get my brakes checked. They took my car in almost immediately and it took about an hour to get my oil change and rear brakes replaced. Turns out the noise was just a loose bolt that someone didn't tighten and I am so thankful to them for being honest and primarily for finding the issue that no one could figure out! I waited there during my service and they have a very nice back area with soft drinks, water, coffee and flat screen TV (for FIFA watching of course)! I will be back again and I have found a permanent BMW service spot! read more

We took our M3 here to get lowered... how can you be a shop KNOWN for suspension and not know how to put coil overs on a 97 m3??? They called him after we picked it up and said "it's not safe to drive. Bring it back... we looked something up on the Internet" ultimately, we paid $400, brought the car home, jacked it up and did it the proper way. They had all of the springs on wrong, had coil over on highest setting.... not sure how this shop has 5 stars.... I should have reviewed this place a year ago... WASTE OF $400!!!! I have two 98 M3 BMWs and a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and always take my cars to get serviced at Solo. I get everything from oil changes to coilovers and tunings done there. I trust the work they perform and feel the shop is 100% reliable as far as leaving my cars in great hands, since I am very meticulous with my toys. They have proven over and over again that they are knowledgeable on the field they perform. As of right now they are swapping an S54 engine on one of my E36 M3 and getting it ready for the race track. I took my Audi A4 in for brakes & replacement N80 Valve. After the service Boris informed me that there was a warranty with my front brakes - "any problem & just let us know". While they did replace the N80 Valve (hard to screw up), they did not do a good job on my front brakes. When I complained to Boris - 1 week later- about having the same squeeling and now grinding going on, he reneged on the promise of repairing my brakes, instead claiming it was the rear brakes making the noise & that I could certainly PAY once again to have those replaced. I have gone to a couple of other shops in Atlanta where I've been over-charged, but never to a place where I felt they LIED about the work performed, then went back on their word to correct the problem. SOLOMOTOR Sports will never get my business again. Buyer Beware!!! read more

They did quite a lot of work to my recently purchased Jetta TDI. I haven't ever had a VW worked on and felt like I could trust that the work was done properly by a knowledgeable and honest group of people before. They can program keys, clusters and ECU's. They took the time to explain everything they'd done and why. They also explained why my car had some continuing, minor electronic issues. They told me how to source another cluster inexpensively (that's the necessary part). They told me that they wouldn't charge me for the few minutes it would take to install and program it to work with my car's computer because I'd just had so much work done. They seem pretty busy, so you'll probably want to call and make an appointment. read more

Was referred to this shop by another shop and had actually heard really good things about this shop. My BMW needed work to the tune of upwards of $1500. Not a task I was willing to dive into and Keenan explained why it was so much so I agreed. Job was done pretty quickly, although was there for other repairs for even longer due to something not associated with original repair. Well...not 15 minutes away from the shop I got an engine light "engine malfunction, reduced power". Never had that happen since ownership and called them right away. Was told that's related to your CEL due to the O2 sensors? No, I don't think so. When I get it home I start inspecting and the fill nozzle for the washer fluid had been busted and attempted to be super glued back on...didn't work. There is a long scratch down the side that wasn't there before and a scratch across the windshield that wasn't there before. All in all, I have had more problems with my car since they had it in their position than before taking it to them. read more
