While in Sarasota for a doctor's appointment, we decided to stop off for a slice at the original Solorzanos. The pizza slices were huge and the pizza was amazing. It was like a slice of home. (I really miss really great pizza at a consistent rate.) They were friendly and everything was reasonably priced. I really did love the decor because it reminded me of home and the old school pizza shop on the corner in Jersey. 8/10 good stuff the pizza is quite good, i personally prefer the silician. the garlic knots though i didn't really like them but it may be due to personal tastes im not sure. the inside seating is not the most comfortable but tolerable, though the aesthetics found within the main dining area are nice. besides that, the staff are quite relaxed and friendly! would recommend a visit here read more

I often search for good New York style pizza so I decided to try this place based on rave reviews. Met by friendly staff I placed my order at the counter, their popular Hoboken heart attack pizza with a side of meatballs. I have to say the meatballs were exceptional, served hot in a flavorful marinara. Unfortunately I found the pizza somewhat disappointing. My idea of a really good pizza is one with thin, crisp crust that holds under its own weight and high quality cheese. The crust immediately flopped while the topping easily slid away, folding helped as usual with most any pizza, In their attempt for my requested crisp crust I found it slightly burned on bottom. Overall I'd consider this a good option for pizza if in the area. read more

Ordered a Margharita (with mushrooms) for Super Bowl Sunday, to bring to friends. They told me 5:00 wasn't possible, but 5:10 was, and that's precisely when I showed up. That's precisely when they took it out of the oven. It was a very good pizza, kind of a marinara red sauce...not what I'm quite used to, but damn good. The crust had a perfect char, and was really good. They didn't skimp on the fresh basil, and the mushrooms were plentiful and fresh. It might not have been Frank Pepe's Apizza (NewHaven), but nothing is. It's a damn fine pizza. The woman who took my order in the morning was very pleasant, and I think it was the very same pleasant woman at the counter at pickup. I can't comment on the eat in option at this place, but the pizza was good enough so I'd come back without hesitation! read more

This is a long overdue updated review. Unfortunately, Solorzano's Pizza continues to go down in quality. I recently ordered a Large pizza with half sausage for delivery. It was basically all dough with a minimum of sauce or cheese and an "ok" amount of sausage. Since I came up about .10¢ short of their "minimum" order for delivery (this was a Large pizza) I had to order a basic salad too. With a fairly good tip, the total was $41.50 That seemed excessive to me, especially in light of the average quality. I may give them a try again sometime in the future but I wouldn't count on it. read more

First visit. Tonite. Was waiting for the pizza. Ordered a glass of wine. Not blown away by the pizza but was blown away when the guy up front brought over my wine, which looked very small. I said oh! it's a half glass of wine! He said oh no!!!! It's 6 ounces! Then ...HE LITERALLY HELD UP A PLASTIC MEASURING JUG to show me! He had poured the wine from the bottle to the 6oz mark on the jug. Then into my glass. He was proud. He was smiling! I was in the restaurant biz for 35 years and never in my life have I seen wine poured by the measuring cup. The rules in this place are very strict obviously, and he was abiding by them. Thanks for being tacky! Yikes. I also don't appreciate the wine going from the bottle into a kitchen utensil then into my glass. Gross, and more contamination potential. If you are that fussy about the pour and don't trust your employees then get the glasses that have the 6/9 oz marks etched on the wine glass. I'm also wondering if this is a code violation. Very good pizza and a cool atmosphere! I had their white pie and added Kalamata olives and spinach, which was a great choice. You order at the counter and they bring you your pizza when it's ready. In addition to soft drinks, they have a decent selection of bottles and cans of beer, as well as wine. I only give 4 instead of 5 stars because I prefer a little more chewy crust around the edge, but that's really just my personal preference. Friendly service in a good real pizza atmosphere. I got their largest super duper large margarita pizza. It was good. The way they make it leaves it 80% sauce with pats of cheese. Sauce was good, but a bit tangy and with it being primarily Sauce this factored in as did the size which allowed for understandable flop in the center. I made it another week without needing coronary artery bypass surgery, and every week I make it is another week to celebrate by eating a large pie. I consider the consumption of the dough a great pancreas workout as it has to work extra hard to keep my blood sugar levels within range of not dying. Solorzanos has long been one of the best, if not the best pizza spots in Sarasota. Good for dine in with a great atmosphere and some TV's, but it's main business is take out. It's advertised as Jersey (joisey) style pizza. I don't know what that means, but it's delicious. The crust is always cooked well and passed the flaccid test with flying colors (as shown in the photos below). It's always nice and crisp and cooked perfectly. I got the chicken parm pie, and even with all the toppings it still wasn't soggy and floppy, the same can be said with the sausage pie. They're always generous with toppings and prices are reasonable. So far they are in my top two pizza places in SRQ. Seems to always be the same guy cooking the pies every time which helps with consistency. read more

This Solorzano's is a local gem. I stopped by to get some pizza after a long gym session (haha) and was pleasantly surprised with the service, quality, and taste of the pizza. Colby was most considerate and amiable as I placed the order and upon arriving the pizza was fresh and hot. I was pleasantly surprised with the crust as it was on the thinish side but substantial; the flavors of the pizza were excellent as well. I am always seeking New York similarly styled pizza and this hit the mark. I admittedly am very picky about my pizza and I liked this pie better than other local establishments I have tried 'zas from. I really enjoyed the white with broccoli pizza and look forward to trying more from the restaurant in the near future. Situated at the end of a shopping strip plaza at the intersection of Beneva and Webber St. there is parking adjacent. There is outdoor seating and for COVID era there is an outside walk up order/takeout window. They also do contactless local porch delivery I believe. If I could give this place a negative 5 star review I would!!! Especially julianna the owners fiancé who is the manager as well. Ordered a dozen garlic knots for our table because I brought a family of 9 here from out of town after waiting forever they arrived cold!!Asked for more sauce for them because they barely gave us any and they charged us 4 dollars for it mind you I had to ask 3 times for it first. Brought our pizza out it was messed up I asked them to remake it because they messed it up after a hour and our family being done with the other pizzas I got I went up to the desk asked to get it refunded because they were done there pizza and she said I never asked her to remake it which I DID. would not remake the other pizza or take it off the bill or remake the other one without charging me even though I already paid for the third pizza which I sent back!!! Julianna is beyond rude and unprofessional. The worst pizza place I have ever been to in my life honestly. They gave me an issue the entire night with everything so beyond disappointed.
