It was such a treat to get this amazing New Haven style pizza while we were on a weekend away to Sarasota. This food truck is located in the parking lot of the Sun King Brewery and pairs perfectly with the delicious beer being served. My husband and I shared the Pepperoni Pizza and added a Hot Honey Drizzle to it. It was the perfect size to share. The flavors were amazing and the edges were crispy and the crust was the perfect thinness. The owner was so helpful and friendly and explained how the pizza should be served. Wow, simply outstanding and nothing else close that I have found (at least yet) in the Sarasota area. I lived in Connecticut for 20 years and I'm very familiar with New Haven style pizza. What he produces out of his food truck is simply amazing. This is one of our stops Saturday mornings during the Farmer's Market in Sarasota. His first question is always, "you're going to I eat it here, right?" Absolutely legit and I can see why. It's incredible right out of the oven! With that being said, we couldn't finish it and took the rest home. The pizza was still a 9. Do yourself a favor and eat a few slices on site to appreciate it. I am not a big food truck person but I am a big pizza person and this place has amazing reviews, so I had to check them out. I visited them on a Thursday night and the staff was very friendly and Dan helped me pick out two pizzas. I went with the pepperoni and the special. The pizzas did take a little longer than expected but there is lots of seating and the outdoor atmosphere is very nice. There is even an indoor pub area! Tried this last week and it lived up to the hype. Excellent pizza, my only wish was it was a bit bigger. We got both a white and red pizza last week to go. Now Dan tells you it's much better right out of the oven so we tried a slice and he was right but in no way was it bad when we arrived home 10 minutes later. Both pizzas were amazing. This is definitely a top 2 pizza I've ever had. Hate saying that because the parking is really slim, and I don't want this gem getting out. The ingredients are extremely fresh and Dan and staff couldn't be more friendly. This is New Haven style so it's thin and crispy. For the record, no, I'm not from the northeast. I like St. Louis style normally being from there, but this may have swayed me. It's a food truck located at a brewery (plan on eating it there next time) with picnic tables located in the lot outside. Great experience and food, this is my new go to spot! read more

Well this was a most amazing find! Dan (from Amalfi Coast, Italy) is superbly talented. The finest ingredients he uses are apparent right away. His crust is like none other I've had. I had the White Pepps and my companions had Margarita pizzas. Both visits were when Dan's truck was parked at the Sun King Brewery. A great fun casual spot with both indoor and outdoor dining. So it was a double treat as the craft beers at Sun King are excellent. You must follow his social, as he changes spots and you'll need to make sure you get there before he runs out of dough. Do NOT miss out on this apizza!!!!! I am a true pizza snob, raised eating New Haven apizza and Dan is the real deal! Not only is the pizza absolutely amazing, he is absolutely amazing! I am visiting a friend 4 hours north of his truck and have no problem driving down to get a few pies, because IT IS THAT GOOD! Dan even left them at a temperature that I could take them back up the 4 hour drive and finish them off in the oven so my friends (whom are originally from New Haven) could enjoy and it did not disappoint anyone. Dan introduced me to a New Haven pizza page online while I was there because he is truly in love with all things New Haven Pizza. There were a couple other patrons there (from New Haven county nonetheless), and there's a reason we are flocking to him. If you eat there (which you must at least have a slice or 5 lol) there's tables and it's dog friendly. I can't wait to go back for more. Pizza for breakfast? I was walking through the Sarasota Farmer's Market this morning when I came across the Il Petraro food truck. In a previous life I used to eat cold pizza for breakfast. I checked Yelp and saw Il Petraro was listed, albeit with no reviews yet. That encouraged me to walk over to see what they had. They were just finishing getting set up, it wasn't even 8am. I asked if they did personal sized pizza and thought he said yes. I was handed a menu and when I spotted the words Meat Lovers that's what I ordered. It was ready in under 6 minutes. The pizza was large, I'd estimate 12", but not hefty. When I ordered he described the pizza as thin crust and well done. It was both. The edge of the pie was charred and by the time I finished my hands were black, but I never noticed any burnt flavor. In fact, the pizza was very good. The meat part was just pepperoni and ground sausage, and with the thin crust I was able to eat the entire pie without feeling overly full. I suppose for me it was personal sized after all - lol. While I would have preferred more toppings, enjoying an early morning hot and flavorful pizza was still quite a treat. read more
