Okay guys! I love me some Thai food. This place is located in the old Samauri Ramen spot off Durham. Plenty of parking space. They did such a good job decorating and revamping it. The bathroom is very nice too! I went to this restaurant 2 times within 4 days, lol, so I would say I like it! They still have their soft opening menu. First time I went, we ordered the following to share: (shout out Ruby for telling me about this place!) - Tiger Cry (5/5) - Spicy Garlic Wings (5/5) - Kai Kua Noodle (4/5) I also got Pad See Ew with beef to go for my husband. All the dishes were good. We got mild/medium spice and it wasn't too spicy, which is nice. I personally really loved the spicy garlic wings. I found myself eating the garlic/seasoning even after we finished the dish, lol. The steak was cooked medium rare, and I really enjoyed 2 different dipping sauces. It was actually very good! But whenever you walk in you're welcome by a huge extravagant chandelier hanging in the middle of the restaurant. The servers are nice and quick to sit you and take your orders. We never received the complimentary chips with sweet sour dip. We realized that after from other tables around us. But we ordered appetizers instead. Food ordered: Fried long green beans --5/5, with garlic. One of our favorite dishes that we ordered two! Thai papaya salad, medium spicy --5/5, just the right amount of spicy. Papaya was crunchy and fresh. Fried fish tofu --4/5, least favorite dish of the night. Tasted a little bland but the chili sauce helped balance it out. Stumbled on this little gem in the heights. Apparently they're in their soft opening stages, so its new new! Came in and was in awe with the chandelier and decorations. they had golden silverwares. There was a group of 8 of us, and we pretty much did family style. Everything came out fresh and beautiful. For the heights area, the prices on these dishes were VERY affordable, especially with everything going up through inflation. My friend and I are big Thai food fans, and we were on the hunt for a new go-to spot after Thai Gourmet closed. We ordered our usual: pad thai, green curry, and crab fried rice, plus some steamed dumplings. When ordering, we made several specific requests, like extra eggs, sprouts, and bamboo shoots. Unfortunately, they messed up two of our orders, which was pretty frustrating. First off, our appetizer dumplings never came before the main dishes. When I asked the manager-seeming lady about them, she said they weren't even on our order! She offered to get them, but we passed since they were supposed to be an appetizer. Not a huge deal, but still annoying. Then, our pad thai arrived with raw bean sprouts and peanuts, even though I clearly told the server we wanted cooked sprouts and absolutely no peanuts because of allergies. By that point, I was just over the constant mistakes. Honestly, the food tasted really good, and we liked that they could make everything spicy. They are accepting phone call orders and in restaurant dining and it's BYOB right now. When you give a phone order, they will call you back when it's ready. The fried long beans appetizer was amazing! Tiger Cry medium was tasty and to my desired medium heat. Pad Ke Mao had some nice flavors with the chicken and the thick noodles Al dente were great. **Extremely Disappointing Experience** We came in excited to try this Thai restaurant but left completely disappointed. We ordered *Panang curry mild*, and what we got was *extremely spicy* -- way beyond what we asked for. When we politely told the server, they refused to remake or exchange it, and didn't offer any kind of compensation. To make matters worse, they automatically added a **20% tip** to our bill without asking, even though the service was rude and unhelpful. When we tried to explain our concerns, the staff **raised their voices** and told us to "complain to management" instead of resolving the issue. We love Thai food and eat it often, but this was by far one of the worst dining experiences we've had. They would come by to refill your water and check on you frequently. We didn't feel like we had to hunt our waitress down. There is a parking lot right in front of the restaurant so parking was easy. Unlike other nearby restaurants where we have to find street parking. There are a great variety of options on the menu that we had trouble narrowing down what to pick. We did family style with Egg Rolls, Tiger Cry, Green Bean, Dry Noodles, and Crab Fried Rice. Everything was made to order which you know it will be fresh and hot when it comes out. The egg rolls are crispy and delicious and came with a sweet chill dipping sauce. We order medium rare for the Tiger Cry and it came with two dipping sauce. Love both of the sauce. You couldn't go wrong with either sauce. Honestly this could be an entree with how big it is but it's under their appetizers. Everyone was able to get more than one piece to eat. The green beans were SOOO GOOD! I know it's just green beans but one of the best green beans I have ever had. Crispy and lighten coated with a sauce. Delicious! The dry noodle was seasoned well where it was not soggy and the tofu was crispy. My favorite dish has to be the crab fried rice. We found that 3 is a good spice level for people who can truly eat spicy and are just looking for a flavorful kick to their meal. I eat decently spicy so found 2 to be the perfect level to where I didn't feel any pain as I was eating. We started with the Thai papaya salad, green beans, and fish tofu. The papaya salad was pretty standard, fish tofu was probably our least favorite but the green beans are a MUST! It was so good we had to order another plate of it. For our entrees, we ordered the pad see ew with beef, crab fried rice, pad kra pow with pork and the combination soup. Everything was amazing! So much flavor in every dish. I would reorder every item. I can't wait to go back to try their other dishes though. There is plenty of parking in their lot which is a huge plus! Then we ordered the fried long beans. We got them medium spicy and they were perfect. Savory and spicy. Caution, the medium makes your nose run, which, in my opinion a true medium should be this spice level. But if you don't appreciate spice you may want to go milder. For mains, I had to try the crab fried rice to compare it to my HG from KinDee. I enjoyed it. It's less greasy, light and fluffy. Great quality crab and LOTS of it. I do wish their chili fish sauce was less sweet and more savory, but overall a very good dish. My husband had the Pad Ka Praw with ground chicken it was a stand out dish.
