E.g. one specifically liked playing in water, one really liked the cow's molasses in buckets nearby, some had a little bit more sass than the others, etc. The little tidbits that she gave for each horse was a clear indication that the staff & owners cared for and loved these horses - this is enough for any animal lover to want to support this business. It also made it easier to connect with and understand our horses to make the experience more enjoyable. HCT was otherwise fairly priced & reasonably understanding if customers are running late. The trails were beautiful and unique. The dogs running along with us were entertaining. I couldn't have asked for a better time! Note: They have a little outhouse on the side, but unless you're ok with those, be sure to use the bathroom before!

Woke up early the next day, got to the spot 15 minutes early, sent a text, called... waited 40 minutes called again.. waited 5 minutes called again, spoke with neighbors around where we were supposed to Leave out from to no avail. Extremely disappointed. Been to Colorado multiple times on multiple rides with personal animals.. first time every paying for an outfitter and was sorely disappointed... do better Mr. Travis. Sharing in hopes he doesn't do it to someone else whos looked forward to something like this all week after driving 20 hours. Currently on the phone with bank getting debit card deactivated trying to recoupe some funds from it. Been to horse camps all over the south/west and never encountered this. Then a second ride with 5 of us family members. He is engaging, interesting, knowledgeable about his surroundings, and willing to teach the art of horseback riding. Her prefers texts to book and will meet you to guide you to the trailheads. He did a couple 2 hour rides for us but I know he does 2/4/8 hr rides upon request. I give this review a 5 star but it was a 4 star experience. Only because the Troublesome Fire of 2020 burnt up a lot of Aspen trees along the train and it is slow to come back. Not on Travis just not as beautiful as other parts of CO.

I was craving to get into the water after seeing all the kayaks out there. Mountain Paddlers made it really easy for me to rent a kayak. You can rent online ahead of time or they take walk-ups if there are kayaks available. You can reserve either a solo or tandem kayak on an hourly basis at the Kayak Shak near the beach. After making payment, you then take your receipt to the loading area to get into your kayak. There are staff members on hand to help you into your kayak. The kayaks are comfortable and sturdy and suitable for all ages. The staff went over the boundaries of the lake with me and the fun places to go exploring. They also gave me a dry bag to put my phone and keys in. I had a blast kayaking all around Grand Lake. It is such a beautiful lake and there is lots to explore. I really enjoyed the mountain views and the fresh air. I was able to make my way over to Shadow Mountain Lake. I highly recommend checking out Mountain Paddlers if you are spending a day here. The rental process was simple and the service was great.

Go before 10am for the early bird discount (they'll honor it for extended hours if you start before 10am, and you'll avoid the crowds). FABULOUS!!!!!!…read more Sydney is the owner so you'll be supporting a small, female owned business (in case that's important to you). She has 3 horses so this is an extremely personal / intimate experience. The minimum ride is 3 hours, we chose a 4 hour ride and brought a lunch. She helps you from start to finish if you're an inexperienced rider, if you're experienced you'll also thoroughly enjoy the ride. You assist her with grooming, saddling, cooling the horses after the ride, everything. This is an option that I highly encourage as it allows you time to bond with your horse. The horses (Duke, Missy "Baby Horse") are VERY well cared for, loved, and are so responsive to Sydney. Whether you are an experienced or inexperienced rider you will love this ride. You will ALWAYS feel safe, especially since there's just 3 of you. I highly recommend Alpine Stables and Sydney for your Rocky Mountain ride. The views are spectacular!

We stayed at this campground so we could break up our drive and do the whole route through the RMNP…read morestarting at Estes Park and could finish the drive back to the Denver area the next day. It is the only campground in the park that is on that side of the park by grand lake. We stayed at campground site 74. If you can choose your campsite I recommend that site. It is on the outer rim of the campgrounds and has a great view of the mountains. In the morning we were able to see and hear elk from the campsite! The downside was some of us drink the water from the water spigot at the campsite (not from the dish sink or bathroom sink) and got very sick while the others that did not were fine. Bring lots of your own water or boil your water just to be safe. Mostly tent campers at this location. No showers. We did not have cell service either here, but did not have cell service in the majority of the park. Lots of signs and talk about bears being here but we did not see any. Bring cash to buy firewood at the campground.

My family booked this horseback riding tour expecting a safe and fun experience. While on the trail…read moreour guide pointed out a moose and encouraged us to take a picture. As we were trying to do that, the horses suddenly became startled and took off. Because we had been focused on taking the photo, our hands were no longer fully on the reins, and no one was prepared for the horses to start running. Within seconds everyone fell off even though we tried to pull back the horses still didn't stop! My sister suffered many injuries, including 3 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a broken ulna and scapula . It was heartbreaking to witness my sister in such pain. After the accident, we were told that emergency help would take about two hours to reach us in the woods. We were given two options, either stay sitting on the ground in the woods and wait for help to arrive, or have everyone walk back to the stables to get emergency assistance sooner. My family waited approximately 46 minutes before deciding to walk since my sister was in critical condition and couldn't breathe, despite having broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a broken arm, had to walk about half a mile. Then took another 10 minutes for ambulance to arrive, even though an ER was only 10 mins away. We have location history documenting the amount of time we spent waiting and walking after the accident. The following day, I called the company to request a refund for the excursion since my sister had to pay for her medical bills. No one asked how my sister or the rest of my family were doing or expressed any concern for their well being. That lack of compassion was incredibly disappointing. Accidents can happen, but how a company responds during an emergency says everything. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company. I hope they improve their safety practices, emergency response procedures, and the way they treat guests after a serious incident so that no other family has to experience what ours did.
