I had a very subpar experience with Sarah for makeup. During the trial, I found the eyebrow makeup to be way too heavy handed and unnaturally square (looked drawn on), lip color was very off (muddy grayish-purple) and made me look like a corpse, the eyeliner was not refined and the blush was placed far too low on my face, resulting in a dragged, droopy look. In addition, sparkly blush (not matte) was used, and enhanced every pore on my cheeks. I submitted this feedback in the trial form, as I was told anything can be modified and that they would take my notes into account the day of. Unfortunately, on the day of the wedding, it became clear that none of the notes had been read or followed. The application felt very rushed, and the artist seemed stressed. The exact same makeup techniques as described above were used, and when I wanted to look at the mirror and asked for certain things (minimal brow makeup to avoid a harsh look, brighter lip color), I was met with resistance and frustration on the part of the artist ("just wait till the end, it will come together"). I waited till the end and, unfortunately, had the same outcome. I requested some of the eyebrow makeup be brushed off, but by that time the makeup had already been set with setting spray and was not really budging. Sparkly blush heavily placed low on cheeks again had the same drooping effect. Lip color was very dull and grayish, and I ended up adding some of my own berry lipstick to try and liven it up. Sadly, the wedding photos really amplified all the issues above. The makeup looked heavy handed and unrefined, I didn't feel quite like myself or comfortable in my skin, and I felt disappointed. I am sharing this in the hopes that it might help other brides-to-be: please choose your makeup artist or team carefully, and if something feels off in the trial, definitely go somewhere else- your feedback may never be taken into account. read more

I was able to have Amber do my hair and makeup both for my elopement and my maternity boudoir photos. She was amazing at communicating and working with the shortened timeline I gave her when reaching out about the elopement. I was able to do a trial in studio and then have the vision carried out in Sedona for real. She was punctual, professional and even helped add a last minute addition to my elopement dress in order to help it stay put. It's always nerve wracking trying a new stylist. It's even more scary to have your hair done for your wedding and you have to find someone out of state using only reviews and pictures to make your decision! Well, lucky for me, the reviews for Something Beautiful Hair and Makeup were both honest and accurate! I couldn't have asked for a better team for my wedding hair. Booking my appointments was easy and they were very responsive. I had to make a couple changes from my original booking and it was never a problem. Her prices are VERY reasonable and you get what you pay for! I had my bridal hair done by Amber who is also the owner. I had a trial done with her the day before the wedding and she was able to capture what I wanted immediately. She is incredibly professional and also super sweet and fun! She put me at ease right away and did an amazing half up/down for me before I left that day, so I could look great for my welcome party:) She also had some beautiful hair pieces for purchase at her studio, which was awesome because I didn't even think about that before I was there.
