Worst Taro Bubble Tea I ever had. There is no flavor and has an awful after taste. Never again.

What's so special about this place is how much the owners put their heart and soul into it. They've always been friendly, and sometimes would recognize my friends and I from how often we'd come in. I've tried almost every flavor of bubble/fruit tea and always enjoyed them. I hope this place is around for a very very long time. read more

Their brownies are amazing freshly baked and the price is cheap! I really want to try ordering a cake soon... I went here for the first time for the bubble tea because, well, there really aren't many places to get bubble tea on staten island, so I tried the vanilla milk bubble tea since I heard it was the best bubble tea they had there. It turned out to be terrible. The bubbles were actually perfectly cooked, but it was far too sweet and had a nasty bitter aftertaste. I will say though that the atmosphere was very cute and cozy. I will come back here to try the ice cream and other desserts but not the bubble tea. But I mean, come on, almost four bucks for that crap? No, thanks. read more

This is the cutest place I've been too. The people that work there are so sweet and kind hearted its adorable. First time I tried bubble tea was there, and although I'm really not a fan of bubble tea like at all, theirs is actually pretty good. The tazo tea is really good too and the way they blend it to make it into a smoothie its delicious, I'm a big fan. Their brownies and cookies are so good too. I barley go here but its a really nice. In the summer their ice cream is delish, I can't find one thing wrong with this place, and its like never crowded. Big fan! read more

Bubble tea is a staple in my life. When this place opened by my house in SI, I was wary to how it would compare to places like Tbaar and Vivis. Now I've been going here for bubble tea all the time. Prices are comparable, and they have reward stamp cards (which tbaar stopped doing wahh). Took off a star because my thai milk bubble tea isn't consistent (sometimes more diluted than normal.) Saturday Was the first time I was here because a friend told me that this place is pretty good. I decided to check it out for myself. I came in and got 2 Green tea taro bubble teas, one for my friend and one for me. The setting of the store is really cozy. Its this nice little store with fixed glass panels which makes it very bright. It has a lot of flavors to choose from and its very easy to choose because of the way the flavors set up. I have a little cafe on the North Shore, but whenever I leave my neighborhood, I always support another small business for my coffee, tea, or bubble tea cravings. It's all about locals supporting locals and Truly encouraging each other to succeed! A few weeks ago I made it over to pizzeria giove for dinner and my little guy wanted to do everything but sit and wait for everyone else to finish up. So I decided to take a little walk and I found myself standing outside Something Sweet. I quickly head on in to get out of the impending storm and picked up a few macarons for my little one. When I went to pay I had a sudden urge for bubble tea and found myself ordering a vanilla black. First, the macarons were so tasty, definitely a great find on the south shore. Second, I thoroughly enjoyed my bubble tea and am looking forward to my next jaunt on New Dorp Lane so that I can get another! You can definitely see the craft in bubble tea that they have perfected and I thought it was better than all Manhattan and Brooklyn places I have tried. I truly appreciate a great quality product, helpful customer service, and a local owned shop making Staten Island a better place, which this place for sure has all of the above. read more

I just discovered Something Sweet last Saturday and the home made ice cream is AMAZING!! There are the traditional chocolate, vanilla, strawberry flavors and the more exotic green tea, red bean etc flavors. There is also bubble tea, cakes..all absolutely delicious! I ordered a small ice cream in a cup and received a larger portion than I expected. This is the first ice cream place in Staten Island that has so much variety. I usually have to go to Chinatown to get my bubble tea or green tea/sesame ice cream, now I can buy it here! If you love ice cream, you will love this new place. The place was very nice and the ice cream is good but there was one thing that is going to make me not return. The owner was non stop yelling and giving all of her workers an attitude and they looked so miserable whenever she spoke to them. There was this one girl in particular that was making ice cream rolls, I don't know who she is but I heard someone say her name it started with an S I believe, anyway ice cream rolls were very busy at the time of day I was there and even tho it was very busy she was still positive and had a good attitude and it kept getting ruined by the owner, this is very un professional and me and my family will not be returning because of this problem that should be fixed. read more

Love this place! They go above and beyond making beautiful and delicious ice cream cakes, and their bubble tea is great! The cakes aren't super cheap in general, but for what you recieve it's definitely worth the money. I've always had a pleasant experience with the employees as well. Totally recommend! read more

First time here..AND first time trying bubble tea. The girl who took my order was unfriendly, didn't smile, and seemed like she couldn't be bothered with me asking any questions. I got a passion fruit with tapioca-absolutely despised it...not necessarily meaning that it's their fault I didn't like it.. It could've just been that passion fruit bubble tea isn't for me (I'm definitely willing to give it a try one more time in another flavor.) Instead of being rude and giving them the drink back, I opted to order an ice cream cup instead. After waiting on line again for a few minutes.. Instead of taking the next customer(me) she asked for the next bubble tea order.. THEN me...I finally was able to order chocolate peanut butter ice cream and specifically asked for butter pecan on top...I got the reverse, with the butter pecan on the bottom. Lastly, to top it all off.. I was very disappointed with the ice cream.. The peanut butter tasted like burnt brittle and the chocolate was less than mediocre. The butter pecan was OK. I'm willing to give this place a shot one more time, but if the service and flavors disappoint me again I will not be returning. read more

Not sure how this place has such great reviews. Their bubble tea is mediocre at best and they give the least amount of bubbles I have ever gotten in a bubble tea. Even with all that sometimes a girl just needs her bubble tea and every time that I have come here at 11:30 (when they're supposed to open) they were still closed. I waited as late as 11:50 and they were still not open. Completely unreliable. read more

Place was great especially when it wasn't as well known. Service was good and the staff friendly. Now tends to get overcrowded with kids that tend to loiter. Bubble tea isn't as good as it use to be and the person making them now tends to get overwhelmed. It's nice that they have asian ice cream flavors but they need more variety. I just started coming here recently, it's my new 'spot' with my bf. I love their ice cream and the girls who work there are always so patient with me when I order many scoops to go. My favorites are the red bean, chocolate, and banana flavored ice cream, taro was pretty good as well. I brought the coconut flavor for my parents and they loved it too. Definitely up there with cold stone and Haagen Dazs on my fav ice cream list. Next time I will be trying their bubble tea! read more

I would give this place 0 STARS if possible. The Asian woman that works there is extremely slow. The entire place smelled of cigarette smoke which is gross because there's food everywhere and children. I'm a huge fan of bubble tea, but this is not quality bubble tea. I gagged when I drank it. She asked me what I'd like to order and burned a hole in the back of my head while I was trying to decide. It seemed like she wanted to get rid of me as soon as possible. That's not very good customer service skills. Then when I was ready to order my bubble tea, she took her precious time putting it together. It should not take 10 MINUTES to put together bubble tea when there were no other customers that needed tending to. Their prices are outrageous. In Manhattan and Brooklyn I get them for so cheap. They have no businesses charging the prices they do for low-quality bubble tea. She was unfriendly and rude and never once smiled at me. She looked like she really hated her job. If she doesn't want to work there then she should quit. She looks very angry every time I come there. I don't think I'll be returning unless she no longer works there. And I'm pretty sure I also saw rat droppings behind the soda machine. I will be contacting the manager. read more

When my friend complained to them that her tea was not what she wanted and asked to exchange, they said no and began talking about us amongst each other. Very rude! I am obsessed with this place for their super smooth, flavorful and unique ice cream. Plus for a special occasion, their cakes are stunning. Definitely recommend the avocado and pumpkin (seasonals) or the banana, strawberry cheesecake and almond year round. They've also got some off beat flavors like green tea, red bean and taro (which goes great with the banana.) The female worker in this place is rude. So much so that after my friend ordered her ice cream (which she said tasted funny) I decided not to order because of how rude the girl was. Asked for the owner and was told don't come here if you don't like it. Will still try to go in when the owner is there, as I am hoping it is not how he wants to run a business. But I will definitely tell all my friends with kids to go elsewhere for ice cream, as this is not some place that deserves business or has workers who even care if they have business. It is obviously by how they treat customers. Heard terrible things in the past but decided to try it on my own and the result was I'd rather have no ice cream than give a dime of my money to this place.
