A random find on our way driving through Staten Island to get to New Jersey. This place caught our eyes with its colorful exterior and interior. We also saw many folks going in and out of the street to go to this donut shop. We spontaneous did a U-turn and I'm glad we did! They have such interesting selection of specialty donuts. They have a couple base flavor for donuts, but they will decorate and add toppings as requested afterwards. They also sell what looks like 3D printed key chains and figurines inside the store as well. Another great find also includes their breakfast options. They have savory donuts such as chicken waffle donut or bacon-cheese donuts. While I was tempted to try, we had already ordered half dozen specialty donuts. I crave donuts every now and then, and every since moving to SI finding a good yeast donut has been hard. we came in expecting for yeasty donuts fluffy and airy but we did not realize these were cake donuts. ordered half a dozen and the flavors were okay-ish. Freshly made and we watched each donut getting fried but it didn't really satisfy my needs entirely. The donut base was all the same just with different toppings which made no difference. I see the appeal here, getting to chose your own toppings. but again, these are CAKE donuts not yeast. but for what it is, these are good donuts. I'm thoroughly impressed! They had an immense variety of doughnuts including your usual flavors and all kinds of seasonal/holiday variants. You can watch the employee hand make each doughnut in front of you and watch fresh doughnuts being made so you know everything is new. So I came here with friends and my son. Every kids loved this experience of watching them make donuts, but the adults didn't really live this place. The donuts aren't real because they are like cake batter. But kids loved it we just tried it. I wouldn't go back but my son wants to go back anytime we are in StaTen island. One of the most amazing donut place I ever had. I thought fresh off the conveyor belt Krispy Kreme donuts or voodoo donuts were good, but this place is amazing. Ordered half a dozen that was made fresh from the fryer, then customized to perfection. Standard is choosing a dip, topping, then drizzle. Any additional customization or fancy donuts on display requires additional $1.25 which was well worth it. To me, the winner was maple bacon loaded with sweet and salty flavor. I haven't actually visited Donut World but I had the donuts brought to me twice. Both times the large cake donuts were hot, crispy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. The flavors were delicious and not overly sweet! They have a large variety of flavors. On one visit we ordered the maple bacon which is my all time fav. A sweet and savory donut all in one. A blueberry glazed, a chocolate chip crumble, and a cinnamon sugar. I heard the coffee is really good. I def recommend Donut World if you really like gourmet donuts. I thought the taste of the donuts were not good. The donuts were very dry and the flavors super bland... the chocolate topping on one of them was liquid when it should've been more of a ganache.....?? One of the cereal flavors tasted stale. It was a little embarrassing because I took these donuts over the bridge to a family member's house and I wasn't proud to be representing Staten Island. Thinking about it now it was probably because I placed the order the night before, and they likely prepared it hours earlier to get things "done"... I heard about this place from word-of-mouth and decided to check it out. To say the least, I am not disappointed. The service was attentive and friendly. The donuts are fresh! I really LOVE this donut shop! The staff is helpful and very nice. The first time I stepped into Donut World, I was a bit confused. The gentleman who waited on me took the time to explain how the shop works. All the donuts are made to order and served hot! The menu is very extensive. There are so many toppings to choose from here, you can create quite a few different varieties of donut. My goal while at Donut World was to try a Maple Bacon donut. I've seen this kind of donut throughout Manhattan but refused to pay the Manhattan prices. So, when I found out this shop made a good one, I had to try it. I got a small coffee first and was served my donut after I sat down. While eating my Maple Bacon donut, I used my finger to clean the paper plate it came on, so not waste any of its goodness. That donut was one of the best things I've tasted in years!! I was covered in Maple Icing, Bacon and Caramel Drizzled on top. Because the donuts here are served hot here, I felt like I was eating pancakes, with syrup and bacon. It was both sweet and savory. Last week when I went to Donut World, I of course had the same donut and literally had to stop myself from licking the plate. I was very excited when I found out about Donut World. I have seen mostly great reviews and the ones about poor attitudes are just completely false. I have been here four times already with 3 different people and the staff each time, has been nothing but friendly, extremely helpful and nice to us all. The donuts are really fresh, they are candy, but that's a donut lol They aren't greasy at all, the toppings are so good. My favorite is the Oreo! My friend loved he fruit pebbles one. I liked picking different coating-topping-drizzle combinations, like the blueberry-bacon-salted caramel ones; although I found the #cakedonuts already a bit sweet, plus toppings, had small pieces of a variety with less-guilt . The kids we brought them to loved the donuts, esp the chocolate-coated, generously-topped with m&ms, fudge drizzled ones. Wish I got more of those since the Strawberry-coated with sprinkles, which I know is their fave too, maybe were not as eye-catching I guess or maybe we couldn't tell which ones they were.
