Nice ice cream place! The ice cream is delicious and very welcome especially in summer. My son who never had gelato before are the entire cup on his own. He just sat there and ate it without moving around or being distracted like he always does with other things. My daughers like the gelato as well, kept pointing at it asking for more. Service is good. They gave you free samples, and also big scoops. Also gave napkins etc Super clean inside, very modern, feels like being in Italy, especially the bathroom,somehow they renovated that to exactly what a bathroom looks like in a restaurant in Italy without being tacky, with vibrant colors that don't look out of place. I went in on Thursday night around 8pm and was served immediately. I sampled 3 different flavors and chose tramontana as my pick. The shop has so many tables and was very clean. There were lots of different flavors to choose from and the employees were friendly, helpful, and offered samples. I had the Oro Nero which was cookies and cream and it was refreshing and sweet. This is my favorite place to go to in Elk Grove for gelato . This place isn't that busy very spacious with a lot of tables to choose from to sit down and eat ice cream. They have tables available inside and outside . When you walk in the workers are friendly and let you sample as many ice cream as you want . Saw this place recently opened so I stopped in to try a sundae. They offer samples so try a few before you decide. I tried the sundae with BANANA CON DULCE DE LECHE. It was really good. There are so many flavor options and ways to enjoy your gelato, as you can see by their freezer and their menu. We got a passionfruit cream cheese flavored gelato and cherry flavored gelato. The owner/staff member was very nice in that he let us try as many flavors as we wanted. I wished the cherry was a just a tad stronger in flavor. This place is amazing! Came in for the first time with some family for some dessert. Decent amount of tables and chairs for people to sit and enjoy their gelato. Service was great. Discovered this gem while visiting family in the area and it was the perfect cold treat for these blazing Sacramento summers! From the moment we walked in, the owners and their family greeted us so warmly. They were incredibly kind and patient, letting us sample tons of flavors before deciding. And because it was quiet I was able to talk and try to a few flavors before making a decision: Dulce de Leche and can't remember but I know it had RUM in it, then a scoop of Mocha for my wife. All the flavors were robust but not overly sweet, but having tasted gelato in Europe via: Italy, Spain, Greece, France, and even Germany the gelato style made in the US is much different. My friends and I went in after having an early dinner and got to meet the two brothers working the front, whom were very welcoming! As a matter of fact, everyone working here was. Even as we were walking up and pulling the door open, a man sitting outdoors (I want to assume it was one of the owners) said hi to us and welcomed us in as well. The place is huge with plenty of seating, and very clean. There's Italy flags on every table, which I thought was a great touch to the decor on this place. We were waiting on one more friend to join us, and the brothers noticed this and asked if we wanted to try samples of any of the flavors (we quite literally had a sample of every single one of them). Let me tell you, you can go wrong with any of them. Some flavors are on rotation, and we even got to try some that weren't out in the front. I ended up getting a scoop of the ferrero rocher, which was delicious. Sometimes ice cream or gelato shops skimp out or put too much into a scoop, but tne scoop of this was the perfect amount. Very friendly and welcoming, encouraged us to try multiple flavors and explained how they make their gelato and stuff. They had alot of flavors that seemed pretty cool, i tried the cream cheese with passionfruit flavor. It was pretty good, thicker than most gelato ive had (in italy) but still good! New gelateria in Elk Grove! I accidentally discovered this spot driving by and seeing the Grand Opening banner and balloons. Of course I had to try them, especially with the hot day beckoning me in. The space is bright and full of Italian flags and colors. As soon as we opened the door, we were hit with a warm inviting smell of fresh waffle cones. The owner let us know the waffles bowls (capelina) were freshly made to order, right then and there. Yum! Sadly though, the gelato wasn't displayed like your typical gelato. They were in tubs like an ice cream shop, which was disappointing, because the visual appeal is one of the reasons I love going out for gelato. Now onto the taste.. Mango 3/5* I'm a fan of fruity gelato, but the ones I've tried so far were a bit bland. They tasted sweet, but the mango flavor did not shine thru and was underwhelming. The gelato was creamy, but that was all I got from this. Passionfruit 1/5* I love all things passionfruit for their intensity and cheek tingling tartness. This was a complete opposite with muted flavors so sweet that it should be ashamed to call itself passionfruit. Pistachio 3.5/5* Better flavor but again, not too intense enough to be special, but it was still enjoyable. I did get several large chunks of pistachio nuts here and there, which added a deliciously salty sweet aspect. Banana Caramel 5/5* Wow this was SO good! The banana was the star and she let herself be known. I usually don't like caramel because they tend to be too sugary sweet and overpowering of other flavors, but this one perfectly complimented the banana, with a touch of saltiness and toastiness to it. Kinder Bueno 5/5* I think this was a substitute for Ferrero Rocher that was on the menu, but we didn't see it as an option. If you like the candy bar, you'll love this. Creamy, chocolatey but not too sweet, and the best part were the crunchy wafer bits throughout, creating a contrasted texture. Perfect combination! Overall, the gelato were all very creamy, but I wish there was more intense flavor and texture. It's a cute shop that I'd probably be back whenever in the area to get my gelato fix. The story behind the gelateria is touching and proudly written on the wall. They have displays in the case, which had sundaes, banana splits, drumsticks, and more, which I'll be back to try. I found this place off of a Yelp recommendation and thought I would finally give it a try. Salvatore Gelateria is tucked away in a large shopping center anchored by Kohls and a Trader Joe's on the other side off of Elk Grove Blvd. I have had Gelato on a few occasions in Italy so my standards are high. When I went it was slightly crowded but not a long wait. I checked out the many flavors and decided upon my standard, which is pistachio and coconut. The gelato was not only thick and creamy but in the ultimate test very true to life in their flavors. I will be visiting again the next time I am in the neighborhood. read more
