I'm going to have to agree with the other 3 star reviewers. Although the food is tasty a big con for me is the price vs. portion is way off. I ordered the tapas empanadas and the empanadas were ridiculously teenie tiny. For $7 for 2 at least give people a decent size empanada I also ordered the monk fish....uhmmmm is this a soup or a composed dish It was very "soupy" and lacked enough veggies or another component to justify the amount of "broth" Slso visually it could use some work. read more

I went to this restaurant when it was 208 Grill and it was horrible then too. Where do I start? Overpriced is just the beginning. Ordered the CRISPY SHRIMP BISQUE and it was basically a "build your own" meal. Ugh - fine. I got 1 shrimp and 3 tablespoons of soup for $16. WHAT?! Market price? From which market are you pricing these from? $75 for a New York Strip? BTW - they don't know how to make a dirty martini. They washed the olives in water instead of keeping them in their brine. Pure deliciousness from appetizers to dinner. As a party of 4 we were fortunate enough to arrive on tapas Wednesday and Happy hour. Started with the pulled chicken empanadas. Dinner was Hanger Steak, short ribs, paella and linguini clams with its unexpected chorizo touch. Our only disappointment was that there wasn't bread to sop up the delicious sauce. Food was prepared with such obvious attention to flavor. Service was impeccable. It wasn't busy but the waitress was attentive and thoughtful. Flatbread with olive oil and capers on the house was amazing. 2 pitchers of tasty red sangria and we had no room for dessert. Run don't walk to Somni, you will not be disappointed. The chef and owner, Luis Nuala, took the time to visit our table which says it all. The restaurant is spacious and also has an outdoor patio in the back. I went there for brunch with a friend and the food was good but I didn't love the drinks unfortunately. The Bloody Mary needed some work and the Bellini wasn't orange-some type of other flavoring. Service was fantastic! I loved the oysters, crispy lobster tacos and the tostones. It was a little expensive. The ceviche wasn't my favorite but I'm biased with Peruvian ceviche. The oysters were very fresh and decent sized. The paella and pasta dish lacked flavor that we would have liked in a typical paella or linguine dish. The food is very good here and I had drinks. The mojitos are so good. My favorite dish is the salmon and the pasta dish with seafood.

I absolutely love the food the owner the vibe and the events. I've had many family and friends celebrate at Somni and it is never disappointing. I also ordered take outs during the pandemic, and again never disappointed. Delish! Now While the the food is amazing they can use a better coffee. Went to go to dinner at the old 208 Grill which is no longer. The manager and owner were attentive. The restaurant menu was limited and overpriced. No specials were offered. We were not offered the "bar menu" until we finished dinner. Food quality was good. Only complaint was the price. Would try it again to check out the bar menu. This was a hard one to write. The food was good, the cocktails were good and the service was good... but 'Good' doesn't cut it when your head is pounding from the music. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not an old stick in the mud. I was clubbing in NYC during the late 80s when the book on loud music and excessive nightlife was written. But this isn't the 1980's, nor is it The Limelight, The Cellar, or Studio 54 in NYC. It's a restaurant in Monroe NY where the food should not have to come with a side of ibuprofen. I kid you not, ...I was in a party of 8 and none of us could hear a single word that was said for the entire duration of our meal. We asked the waitress to lower the music, and she did... however, none of us being K-9s, ...were able to actually detect how many octaves lower she put it. Now to be fair, as I always try to be, my dish was very good. It was a shrimp dish that was very tasty and quite ample. Most everyone ordered something different and we were all very satisfied with the quality of the fare, so it would be safe to say most everything on the menu is worth trying... if you can stand the extremely LOUD music. The drinks were also perfectly prepared, we were a 50+ crowd and have been drinking cocktails since college, so we know what good drinks are. If we all didn't walk out of there with headaches, this place would have gotten 5 stars. The two is for the food and the food only. The price was also kinda high, but I'd overlook that because of the quality and the service. This not withstanding, I'll never go back, and that's a shame because I really wanted to try some of the other dishes. We came here to celebrate our anniversary! We wanted a nice evening without the kids to enjoy a meal together and they did not disappoint. Everything was top notch from the service all the way down to the drinks. The food was delicious and the drinks were creative and fresh! They overheard it was our anniversary and treated us to champagne on the house. We had tapas, appetizers, dinner and dessert and we were happy with it all. I am going to go ahead and get the bad part out of the way. If you're going the speed limit you could possibly pass the entrance. Alright so atmosphere, music, and service were all equally fantastic. We started with the Duck Cigars with passion fruit dipping sauce. Light deep fried spring roll style with enough duck to taste. The sauce was good enough to be it's own dish. I'd spread it on my finger and eat it. The Naan with chive and olive oil was a middle snack before the starters. For 37 years beets were dirt balls. Until Somni! My sister put a perfect bite of arugula, beet, walnut and goat cheese on a fork and now I believe it's the only way to eat it. Portuguese crusted calamari was a delight. The calamari was soft but not mushy the crust stayed on in every bite and once again the dipping sauce heightened each bite. Entrees came on time and stunning. The short ribs could fall apart if you blew on it. So tender and every bite held a powerful punch of flavor. Came on a bed of potatoes that was on top spinach on top onions. The hanger steak was our other entree. The steak was lightly covered in a chimmichuri on top of a bed of arugula, potatoes in a chip form, Bleu cheese crumble vinaigrette. Although the edges were a little chewy it did not stop me from devouring everything on my plate. While we received the dessert menu we also received the brunch menu for the next day because we decided we need to try everything on the menu. For dessert we shared the chocolate lava cake. Which brought me back to the joy I had in the beginning of the meal. Pitcher of red sangria wash everything down. In one word... BLAND. Everything... bland. They bring a green oil and 4 teeny tiny pieces of pita for dipping, but we could not identify what kind of oil it was because it was flavorless. We had a hard time identifying what was in the lobster roll too because it was just a weird muddled flavor (not to mention the weird texture). I had the short rib pasta w/spinach. just walked out on my mothers day reservation because they sat my mom and i in lawn chairs at an awful makeshift table. every server that walked by bumped into the "table" and tried to hold onto it to keep it from rocking back and forth. i asked for a different table and the manager told me all tables were already reserved to give everyone the best service, even though i had a reservation and i wasnt given the best service at all. actually the worst. wasnt even there 10 mins. for a location that never thrives, you'd think the service would at least be trying. do not recommend. read more

I've been coming to Somni for about a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed it every single time. The guacamole and chips are excellent, and you cannot go wrong with any tapas. Their entrees are good, and personal favorites include the cheeseburger and short rib (fries are very good too). The chocolate lava cake is routinely fantastic. The tapas and main courses were beautifully presented and so generous and delicious....my hanger stack was perfect and my friends raved about the Branzino.....my spicy tamarind margarita was unusual and incredibly good......the desserts were to die for - ice cream, flan, and sorbet all made on premises -- in fact, all menu items are made fresh on premises. Ambiance is great. Space great. Empanadas very good although very small and only two. They have a DJ blaring music that I like to dance to, but inappropriate and loud for lunch. I ordered mussels , clearly not fresh with crostini that was at least several hours old ( not crisp malleable, chewy, uneatable). Ordered croquets and got a sandwich with two eggs on it. I ve been here three times the food has varied from good (not very good) to less than average (not terrible) . They also have a 25 dollar cheeseburger ( uneventful considering the big price) If anything I think they can improve but they need to step up the freshness of ALL the food, reconsider portions and decide if they are a night club, or a restaurant. We all had monk fish it said it had mushrooms asparagus potatoes etc 3 of us got a piece of fish 1 guy got the spine and the tail end barely any fish perhaps 2 bites for $27. I gave him half of mine. There was no portion of the vegetable distributed even between us four. Same with fish. A rip off. He told the heavy set waitress she said ok and looked baffled. I don't think she understood the urgent matter and it was insane.We got no compensation. No discount or did she say give me the plate I'll have him redo it for f $27. We ate when we got home. As it was split up badly these meals. The last upside forget dining there for the price it was noisy. After we ate the few slices of veggies and bite size piece then they waiter who came by said the broth taste the broth the best part. We said we had no spoons. The one waitress across from us kept dropping silverware as we were placed I; the door way across the cashier wait station. Made us jump first the knife dropped the. A spoon. Cripes what a terrible experience. I paid 86 buck for 2 of the dinners plus calamari appetizer was $13 and a good thing we had it as we got ripped off ur meals inadequately distributed, we asked for more pitas they give you a small plate complimentary good sauce with it but it wasn't enough for 4 ppl, for 2 yes. If a couple sat down they'd get same amt. but 4 so I asked to bring us more and she charged me $5. We though one of the waitresses would say something to manager the place was crazy we couldn't catch him so we paid and left after the frustration of it all. Wanted to try the new Somni restaurant because I have always enjoyed 208 bar and grill and wanted to see what has taken its place. My friend and I went on a Wednesday night for karaoke because we were aware of the dinner prices being expensive and felt like our first experience would be better if we went with a bar menu and fun atmosphere. The actual night was fun with the weird owl karaoke but the overall experience with the food and drinks were not up to par. The bar menu had only one option I would consider bar food and it was the cheeseburger with fries that was $16. The other options were along the lines of octopus, bruschetta, and cheese platters. My friend and I decided to split the burger and fries and put our order in. After the bartender/waitress put in the order she comes back and tells me the order only came with one slider burger, she offered to add another slider so my friend and I would be able to enjoy and I said I was okay with that. We ordered a margarita and corona, sang a couple songs, then the food came out and there were 4 sliders and a bowl of fries that I would consider to be way less than an average order of fries you would get with a burger and fries at a diner, or any restaurant for that matter. All of that aside the food was okay. I've definitely have had better and I have definitely have had worse. Overall total was $42.00. I will definitely come back for the karaoke but the food is another story. read more

We came here to meet our friends who just moved to the area, outdoor patio was awesome, not just thrown together, but laidback and set up with an outdoor bar and live music, I swear they even have a babbling brook running along side, able to grab a smoke without bothering anyone, service was good, looks like owner's are there running the show. Food was so good! Easy to order for the table to share, tapas was fresh, and kinda hip dare I say! Must of snagged a nyc chef who fled the city! Wow! Somni has something for everyone. Firstly, they advertise as tapas, but they have a menu with full sized meals and appetizers in addition to a smaller tapas menu. My husband and I had the primo empanadas and lobster tacos from the tapas menu (both very good) as well as the Atlantic salmon and lamb shish for our entree. Everything was cooked well and piping hot. The timing in between courses was great. Service was exceptional and there were specials for drinks and dishes.
