(Also, FYI: MANY other hotels in the Passaic/Morris/Essex County area DO NOT charge for our pets) First room, smelled like stale smoke ( was assured its a smoke free property loloud; told them I know what that 'special' smoke smells like) Second room, decent; slightly worn rug, holes in couch ,No alarm clock; but clean; Workers are friendly/professional: you will smell others cooking throughout the halls, and in your room slightly; Also, people smoking at rear entrances ( by trash receptacles and basketball court) those smells waft in slightly; Overall, if most other hotels are booked, this offers good value for the money. Warning: My 4 day stay had no housekeeping visits at all. This is completely unacceptable considering I ran out of towels after the first night. Very unhappy here Dated hotel with a face lift. My room was adequate but this is a no frills nothing special hotel. There is a mini kitchen with a hot plate I'm sure nobody uses. They have the thermostats limited at 65 degrees which is definitely a problem during the non-summer months. Can't lower the temperature in my bedroom to get it cooler and dry it out. I had chips on the paint in my bathroom and they had the dreaded wall shampoo conditioner dispenser. To make matters worse there was absolutely no breakfast one day and others were a continental junk breakfast with microwave packaged food. I picked this hotel because it said it had a good breakfast and didn't. Overall I'm very disappointed considering I transferred from another hotel thinking I would get something better and got worse. The place two blocks away I was just in had a very good breakfast buffet. I'm getting out of here and going back there. Won't be back. Good place to stay if you have pets and need a two bedroom place, otherwise stay away! Carpets and furniture, doors and bathrooms are stained, chipped and worn. Glassware in kitchen was filthy with no dish liquid provided and a used sponge. Shower in one bathroom didn't work. On the plus side, it's a convenient and quiet location, bed was comfortable. I also stayed here 4 years ago, and it appears little has been done to keep up this property. Covid is not to blame for the conditions here. read more

This was the best continental breakfast I've ever had in a hotel. I had eggs, sausage, pancakes, hash browns, and a chocolate croissant. Yum! Zero stars if I could. I ordered food for delivery through a 3rd party. I provided my name and room number so they could drop my food off at my door. I received a call from the delivery person stating the front desk would not let them deliver my food, and I would have to come get it at the entrance door at 11pm. I have never experienced this issue in any other hotel before. If anything, they've called my room to verify, then allowed access to complete the drop off. Stayed here for 2 nights at $185 USD/night after taxes. Room was clean and very spacious, but a bit dated. My wifi was upgraded by signing up for their free rewards club, but even then was on the slow side. Front desk reception was excellent. A shuttle is available for drop-off/pick-up to the nearby offices, subject to timing (e.g. I was given an option of 4:30pm or 6:15pm pick-up). The shuttle will NOT take you to the train station, shopping area, etc though. The breakfast was disappointing. I noticed the scrambled eggs had something red in them, so I asked an employee there if the red was meat or a vegetable. She responded saying she wasn't sure, the eggs come pre-melted to the hotel and they just heat them up... gross. Maybe it's the same at other hotels but hearing this made me cringe + you really ought to know if one of the main dishes you're serving contains meat or not. read more

I travel to NJ for business and have stayed at this location MONTHLY for the last 5 YEARS. Today I check in and there is no WI-FI. I wasn't warned at check-in and I called about it and was lied to about when it would be working. I've called several times since and my calls aren't being answered. Absolutely DO NOT go to this hotel. Unless you want to listen to children screaming and being yelled at by their mother all day and then left alone and unsupervised all night. This was the absolute worst hotel experience of my life. I think this hotel doubles as a shelter. The walls are paper thin and the customer service at the front desk was terrible. The paint was chipped on practically every wall in the room, there were stains and spots on the walls and the carpet looked like it hadn't EVER been cleaned and that includes both inside and outside of the room. I've had great experiences at other sonesta locations. I am really appalled. I barely slept because the unattended children next door were having the time of their life without their mother there at 2 am. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. Just drive down a little further to the Hampton Inn. Hilton would never! If I could give it zero stars I would. read more

Spent a night here, and found it clean, comfortable, and fairly modern. Breakfast was decent, and the gym equipment was in good working order. The only issue I had was regulating room temperature on a cold night, but I may have been able to figure this out had I been there longer. read more

I've now spent about 8 days at this extended stay. As a business traveler, I've experienced properties at all levels from budget to luxury. This one is very basic- clean and no frills. It was previously Staybridge Suites, and if I were to guess I don't think much has changed about the property itself aside from the ownership. The staff has been quite friendly and helpful when any issues have come up (forgotten key, broken shower head, etc). The housekeeping is only towel service and emptying trash unless you are staying more than 7 nights, so I didn't expect much in that way. I must say though, the more thorough housekeeping service at other extended stay properties in the price range is something I miss. Amenities are light- the hot breakfast is cheap but available. I've taken to fixing my own in my room. Processed scrambled eggs, a rotating meat option, oatmeal and waffles are your hot choices. The rest is pre packaged carbs of questionable integrity. The room is dated but clean. This is purely a matter of opinion, but the bed is too soft for my taste and I'm left with a back ache that has been bugging me since about my third night. The TV is an old school bulky tube TV, rather than the flat screens that most comparable properties have upgraded to. Wifi is complimentary- but they charge $10 a day or $150 a month if you want speeds fast enough for streaming. I find this a little obnoxious. I don't have any MAJOR complaints about Sonesta- it serves it's purpose but it's certainly not fancy about it. If given the choice I'd opt for the Hyatt House or Hampton Inn near by next time. read more

I have stayed at this hotel twice, most recently for an 11-day business trip. I like this hotel better than the Embassy Suites where my colleagues usually stay because it has a full kitchen with a full-size fridge so it is a bit more like home. It appears to have been redone recently because everything is in very good condition. I especially like that the hallways are well-lit and cheerful, not half-dim and dingy like most hotels. GREAT beds and pillows. I slept like a log. My only beef is that the beds are VERY high and I am a very short person and it was difficult for me to get into the bed; I had to kind of get a running start. Good in-room safe as well. The kitchen cabinets are also very high up, but a note left for the housekeeper to please bring the dishes down to where a short person could reach them resulted in the dishes being put on the countertop and the glasses moved down. Very nice. The front desk staff is very pleasant. They are spread too thin sometimes because there is a tap with two kinds of beer, a coffee machine, and a smoothie maker and they have to handle these in addition to the front desk. Good selection of TV channels including a few HBO channels in hi-definition. Standard internet worked fine for me. There was a power surge one night that knocked out internet and TV for about a half-hour but it came back quickly. The breakfast is not all that great; I bought a bunch of deli at the supermarket and had lovely NJ deli for breakfast in my room instead. There is a small but nicely-equipped gym and very small indoor pool that I did not use. I really only have two small things I would like to see here: One is to have the regular (non-decaffeinated) coffee pods in the room replaced daily without having to ask for them. For some reason, the housekeepers skimp on the coffee pods. I don't know why. The other is to have LAUNDRY pods available for purchase in the little shop or in vending machines in the laundry room. They provide a laundry basket in the room but unless you are staying long enough to buy your own laundry products, you simply cannot do laundry. I would pay a buck for a laundry pod; for 10 days I wasn't about to buy a bottle of laundry soap. You really have to have a car in order to stay here; there is NOTHING within walking distance in terms of shopping or restaurants. But it is a nice, quiet location and I felt very safe. I have to travel to the area a few times a year and will always stay at this hotel whenever possible. read more

Came up here on a trip with my two young boys after booking online and was pleasantly surprised. Very clean/new from outside, lobby is modern, room was very nice with kitchen, wifi and amenities. Hotel has a 24 hour juice bar, wine and beer until 12 (prices $2-5), pool was warm and clean. The staff is very courteous and nice offering to help at any time. read more

I've stayed here three times now for work and it's a decent hotel. The rooms are large and have a kitchenette with appliances, fridge, cooking utensils, coffee maker, etc. The beds and pillows are comfy and the rooms are clean and modern-ish. The continental breakfast isn't great but there are many types of food options. The hotel also has a pool and gym. read more

Second time staying here and love the hotel. It's nice and bright and has a relaxing feel to it. The rooms are clean , bright and I love the kitchen area ! Has a stove microwave coffee machine , fridge and freezer. The hotel is conveniently located right off the highway but tucked away in a nice spot so there is no traffic interruption. I must of picked a good weekend because my son is in the indoor pool with one other guest. Peaceful and Quiet. I recommend giving this hotel a visit. read more

I can't rave enough about our stay at the Sonesta ES Hotel in Parsippany NJ. It is in a great location accessible to Route 46, Route 80, and Route 287. We and our dog stayed in a two bedroom suite with kitchen for 5 months while we built our new house in Florida. The staff working here are the friendliest and most efficient staff I've ever dealt with at a hotel. They responded immediately to any request we made. Breakfast is served every morning and soup and salad and light meals are served on Monday and Tuesday nights. There is a gym, indoor pool, and laundry room. There is also a food pantry and bar where you can buy items. There is daily maid service and a thorough clean once per week. We plan on staying here every summer when we come north to visit family and friends. This place feels like my home away from home. read more

i cannot begin to explain how frustrated and traumatizing my experience with this hotel was. we made a reservation here through booking.com and were planning on checking in late (12:30 am) after coming home from the city. after i finished parking my car in the lot, i got a call from someone at the hotel saying they didn't have a room for me anymore. apparently this place overbooked because they didn't update their inventory so booking.com booked a room here that didn't even exist. long story short, there was some apparently massive event in town because i called 12 hotels in the area and none of them had a single room to spare. i'm not sure if i even believe that or if they just didn't wanna deal with someone checking in at 1:30 am but needless to say this hotel screwed us big time. part of me thinks the hotel was just punishing us for checking in late and gave away our room to someone else who went to the desk sooner and for that, i will never ever consider staying here again. read more

Hotel is clean and well kept. Far as front desk, if they don't like you, you will be treated poorly. I ask if I can have mail sent there and got long speech how I shouldn't have mail send to hotel. Front desk doesn't seem know when last time you pay them or knows how much you pay. You better get receipt showing payment or you will be accused of balance. If you pay late, manager doesn't care about their guest will demand a day rate payment plus weekly rate and will not work with you far as payment. I have asked Vanessa if we could charge day by day then we will make a weekly payment. She was rude enough to tell me no with rude remarks how she has business to run. She could have long term guests but she chase us out because of her front and extreme rudeness. Beware. Sale director was wonderful and had a sale. read more

I really like this hotel! It is like a mini apartment. The rooms are equipped with a couch, full kitchen, big bathroom, and dining table. Bed was very comfy and I loved that the hotel was very quiet. I took one star off for the breakfast, as I didn't think it was very good. The oatmeal and the eggs were very bland even after adding the usual seasoning to them. Good bagels and coffee, though. Other reviews stated the breakfast was great and had many more options, so maybe we just came on an off day. I also like that they have a bar and indoor pool, which I will definitely check out next time. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay and I will definitely be back! read more

We brought a hockey team from out of state and stayed at this hotel. While not fancy, the hotel is clean, comfortable and efficient. The evening receptions are very nice. The meeting areas very comfortable and inviting. I think they are about to undergo a renovation that will make it even better. Sonesta Suites in general is my first choice when I need a extended stay hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly, offering me copies of various local restaurants menus with free delivery to the hotel and answering my questions about the area during my 4 day stay. The Sonesta Parsippany is a 5 story large hotel that has undergone Extensive renovations / Upgrades to every suite, which are almost complete. In fact, upon check in I was told, my 1 bedroom suite had been completed the day before I arrived and I would be the first to sleep in the new King Size bed. The suite featured brand new everything, wood floors in the kitchen area with table and chairs. A full size refrigerator with ice maker, large microwave, dishwasher, toaster, 2 electric burner cooking , Cuisinart pots and pans, silverware, plates and cooking utensils. The carpeted living room with leather couch and chair made it easy to enjoy the many cable stations and HBO movies offered on the BIG flat screen TV. The bedroom was spacious, King Size bed, the front of 2 nightstands contained built in electrical outlets, keeping within easy reach my phone and laptop while charging overnight. A nice dresser with 6 deep drawers, that held a second large flat screen TV. Nice clean bathtub/shower area with a large shower head and great water pressure even on the 5th floor. The wall dispenser in the shower containing shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel from Italy was a nice change from the small bottles of products usually offered at other hotels. Plus a personal safe in the closet and laundry basket to carry your clothes if you choose to use the complimentary guest laundry washers and dryers, just bring your detergent or buy at the hotel. Their indoor pool although small was very clean and relaxing, adjacent to the pool is a patio with tables and chairs, and 2 outdoor gas grills to use. This hotel is also Pet Friendly, and the fee is reasonable to include our 4 pawed family members.
