Brain Freeze - Where Taste Buds Go to Party and Your Brain Yells, "WORTH IT!"…read more If I ever go missing, check Brain Freeze first. Deanna and her team are the real reason my GPS keeps rerouting me back there like it's a rescue mission for my soul (and sweet tooth). Walked in for "just one scoop." Left with a cone taller than my future and a smile so big I had to hold it with both hands. The ice cream? Creamy, dreamy, and possibly churned by angels. Prices? Let's just say I paid less for my sundae than I did for a bottle of water at the gas station. That's sorcery. Delicious, creamy sorcery. Deanna, the mastermind behind this frozen wonderland, is the kind of person who probably gives ice cream to her enemies just to win them over. Her helpers were so friendly and upbeat, I thought I'd wandered into a Disney movie--minus the musical number (although I did hum while eating). Bottom line: Brain Freeze is what would happen if Willy Wonka ditched the chocolate and focused on making the happiest ice cream shop on Earth. 10/10, will absolutely be back... once my taste buds forgive me for the cold snap. P.S. Try the cookie dough. You'll get misty-eyed. It's that good.

How have I not heard of these kind of kringles before?! I have never really been a fan of kringles,…read moreit's just not my kind of pastry. But this Frankenstein version that Mike's offers that is seemingly a blend of both a kringle and a king cake (the real New Orleans kind)? Heck ya. I will gladly devour this and will be back as often as my travels allow. I was passing through town and stopped in around noon on a Saturday and was thankful to see they had not yet sold out of Kringles for the day. Almond was the only choice left, so I went for it ($22.95)! Plus, a fudgy brownie because why not? Customer service was very friendly and helpful. After checking out I placed the massive kringle and brownie in the trunk so I could get it home to my family without me nibbling on it the entire 2-hour drive home. Once home, I have never seen my family devour a kringle so fast. From the grandparents to the little kiddos, everyone enjoyed Mike's take on a kringle. This should be the default version of a kringle! Oh, and that fudgy brownie? The best I have ever had. All the kudos, stars and compliments I can provide. How has this been kept secret from me for so long?!

The table we were sat at was super wobbly and I don't think they really put effort in to the remodeling and their food. All I'm going to say is that they lost us as customers. We loved Julie's cafe and their food but not twin brothers food.

The place was completely empty, but had been thoroughly cleaned since the last time I was there (when it was still Julie's), and smelled clean, so my first impression was pleasantly surprised. The waitress seated me, a very nice young lady, and I ordered coffee. Had to ask her to bring me cream and sugar, but not a big deal. I was somewhat disappointed with the menu, which didn't have a great selection. My friend arrived and, after unfortunately having to ask for clean silverware, ordered grilled shrimp w/sweet potatoes fries. I ordered the chicken & ribs. Our meals came with unlimited soup/salad bar, so I tried the seafood chowder, and my friend choice the chicken booyah, which she enjoyed. My soup tasted okay, but it was barely warm, and incredibly thick and gloppy. Dinner arrived, but my friend had to ask for the rye bread and coleslaw that was supposed to come with her meal. My chicken was hot, but bland, the ribs were tender, but served with a pool of watery BBQ sauce that I thought tasted awful; I couldn't eat them. The baked potato was fine (had to ask for butter & sour cream), and the zucchini was good, but needed seasoning. Overall, and I can't believe I'm saying this, I preferred Julie's. I gave it a 3 based on my friend's meal and the lovely waitress. We did decide to go back and try their breakfast, which I hope is better.
