Really great korean food! We really enjoyed it. I think the drink list on their menu should be updated, as they didn't have a lot of the drinks listed there. Either way, the side dishes were all really good (aside from the radish kimchi being a little too salty for me... but great flavor), and the cuts of meat are very nice and thick. We really liked the combo meal that feeds 4-5 people, it was a good amount of food and came with a variety of things. Flavors were on point, definitely the best Korean food I've had in the area. After pickleball today I was craving something spicy and comfy. I usually go to Songsan for dinner but I saw it was open on my Google maps at noon. I opened the restaurant door and was greeted by a cleaning staff- they said I need to go next door. What was next door? Use to be Rittenhouse deli not it's MrKorea ( moved down the street) and it a cute Korean food cafe! Rice entrees, Noodle entrees, and Stews and soups. Kimbap( sushi roll) and Korean bbq platters bibbimbsp. You have to go to the restaurant if you want grill at the table. K-pop hits and a small selection of Korean snacks and condiments to buy( go to Hmart instead) . Mr Korea yelp page has the old address . I got my usual yukgaejang - so delicious! Great food, service, and ambiance! The banchan, soondobu soup, and kalbi tang are so good! It makes my mouth water just mentioning it. The banchan is a mix of side dishes that are sweet, salty, and spicy to go with any dish. The soondobu is spicy seafood soup, and it's so delicious! This is the second place I've been to within this region that had bad customer service at a Korean spot and honestly I'm baffled. In cali the service has always been impeccable so for this being the second place that gave me a not so good experience is leaving me to feel a bit hopeless. I love Korean food. I'm part Korean so I grew up with authentic home cooked meals daily. The food here doesn't feel authentic at all. It's not horrible food at all. It was good it just wasn't authentic in my opinion and I've never really had that feeling anywhere else. The service started off good and then no one came back after we received our food to replenish the bonchon. We ordered two meals that came included and basically only got one serving since no one came back to check on us. In fact I actually had to call out loud for a check and believe it or not we were the only ones in there and it was only 6/7pm. When I mentioned this to the lady who took our order she said that they help out next door which okay is understandable but we wanted more bonchon, drinks, and water and napkins which we didn't get either. So I mean in addition to the mid food and the bad service I don't think I'd be returning here. There's a plethora of Korean places to try so nothing about this made me want to come back. I asked for seaweed some places have it some don't which is okay but they gave me seaweed for wrapping not to just eat like roasted seaweed and then I requested tea which are actually only tea bags so no refills which I also wasn't used to at a Korean place. I asked for a side of sugar they brought me one teaspoon if even and again I couldn't even ask for more because no one came back. I tried. Oh last but not least the menu on yelp is not updated they no longer serve Pajeon with the table BBQ. Bummer. read more

This place has pretty good food. My friend and I visited for a late lunch. The food is fresh and came out fairly quick. The highlight I'll say would be the wings. They pack a lot of flavor with that signature crunch. They're not freakishly BIG like Bonchon in Philadelphia. The tteokbokki and cold noodles were solid too. I came here with a large group of friends, and the staff were generous and helpful in accommodating us. We all split between three tables. Unfortunately my table's grill was broken, so we were unable to use the grill for bbq. So I got a Bulgogi bowl with a side of rice instead. My beef tasted pretty good, but the bowl was pretty small for the price. Even with the rice I didn't feel like I ate enough. The sides that came with were pretty good. First and foremost, I need to address some things. Many of these reviews are quite frankly false. If you're reading through the slew of reviews, I am sure you were just as skeptical as I was before coming here. The tables were packed when we got there Sunday Night: 8/12 of the tables were filled. Second of all, the portions were fine. I'd like to remind everyone that this isn't your Texas BBQ/Steakhouse; the portions are smaller because Korean people, and food in Korea, is adequately portioned and not "supersized". That being said, I think that this place was truly great. The meat was a bit pricey, but the other Entrees were reasonably cheap. The person who complained about the food being pricey must have only gotten the meat. We got chili dumplings (mandu), kalbi, ribeye, kimchi stew, vegetable pancakes, pork bulgogi, and the side dishes and rice that came with the meal, all for 28 dollars per person. We all left very full, and even had to take some home with us. The only complaints that I really have are that they are way understaffed (only one waiter was able to serve 8 tables that night) and that you have to cook the meat yourself; so be prepared to cook/grill if you plan to come here (which is part of the experience in my opinion). Other than that, the other reviews have no merit in terms of cost, and not being packed. Although I will agree it is not packed at some times, what restaurant isn't? Our family is filled with adventurous eaters who love adventure, so we were excited to try Korean BBQ. Songsan is a small restaurant and with a relaxed vibe. The decor is fun, with a bit of a pig theme (check out the giant pig-shaped metal BBQ out front)! We decided to BYO since we weren't sure if we would like Korean Wine, which worked out perfectly for us. Our waitress was so great - we had a lot of questions about how things worked, how much food to order, and more, and she patiently answered each of them and walked us through everything. We ordered one of the combos and a bunch of apps. The Korean Wings were a definite fan favorite (part of our combo) and we really liked the dumplings and the tacos we got (starters). The meats were fun to grill - the pork belly was ok, the steak was good, and the chicken was great. All in all we had a really fun time combined with a really good meal. read more

The place was a bit smaller than I expected, but the owners did a good job decorating the inside of the restaurant well. The seatings near the wall have cushions which was nice! Food: The meats are really soft but I thought that the marinates were a bit weak/watered down. The vegetables as well, like the grilled onion seemed a bit lacking in flavor. But to not even be able to place a to go order 45 mins before their closing time on a Friday night? I think its ridiculous. So I guess if you're planning on going, don't go in the last hour. Meanwhile there isn't a spot to be had at places up the street like Tired hands. No lunch menu so you're kind of boxed into order an expensive dinner entree for lunch. Opted for the Korean Stew for 2. Maybe I'm just not a fan of Korean food but this concoction just didn't it for me. Korean BBQ on the main line!? Yes, please! If you've ever wanted to try kbbq for the first time, this place is for you! They walk you through every item and step (a tad overkill for people who've eaten kbbq all their lives though... Perhaps they should ask if it's our first time before explaining how Koreans eat kkbq to a Korean-native?). Even though it's definitely catered to the local demographics, it's still authentic (with a hint of fusion) and an alternative to driving out to North Philly for kbbq! We did the two person set, which comes with 3 types of meat. We ordered chadol, jumuluk, and kalbi. Chadol tastes like chadol - nothing special, the jumuluk says it's marinated but not really, but tender enough that you don't really mind, and the kalbi is actually cut LA style, and cooked inside. The actual meat serving size itself is pretty dang SMALL- I could probably eat 2 out if 3 servings of meat on my own as a 5'2 female. However, they accompany the sets with banchan, kimchi corn cheese, salad, egg jjim, and miso soup, so you will be able to get full without ordering a million bucks. Still, expect to pay about $40 per head if you're doing the grilling option. If not, they also have non-bbq items too, like bibimbap, soups, tacos, and noodles that will be closer to $20. Service? SLOW. When we were there, it was two servers sweating up a storm from hovering over everyone's grills to cook and cut up the meat. They were nice, but it was difficult to get water, rice, our check, the next part of our meal, etc. Overall, a nice addition to the Ardmore restaurant scene, and will be returning (with hopes of improvements in service)! read more

However, when I walked in on Saturday at lunch time and didn't see anyone else there, I was a little bit concerned... The menu prices are higher than what I saw on Yelp, thus higher than my expectation. The portion is pretty small for the price. The complementary side dishes are underwhelming as well, much fewer options than other Korean bbq places I have been to in Philly. I ordered the marinated ribeye and really enjoyed it. My friend ordered short ribs and she liked it too. However, for the price, I don't think I would come back. A fun experience! The food was good, we got the chicken and short ribs for bbq along with Gimbap starter. It was a good amount of food for three people. The side dishes like the kimchi were delicious. The only con is if you don't like the sauce they offer, the meat is kind of on the bland side. I am so glad to find this hidden jewel while my family trip here in Philadelphia. The place is quite far from my hotel, but it definitely worthy of putting the effort to come here to have a nice korean food. Me and my mother, my cousin who is going to the West Chester University this year have tried their soondubu, and yookgaejang soup for dinner. We all are genuinely surprised how tasty all of their foods were (though the server made a mistake and forgot my order, so I had to wait extra 30 mins while watching other two having a tasty dinner time, it did not bothered me at all since the foods were too good, it was forgettable) super delicious! So, my mom and I decided to come back here once again for a dinner before we going back to Texas tomorrow. We ordered a kbbq this time, 2 orders of Chadol ($35 each serving) and a Dwenjangjjigae ($16). Again, everything were still super delicious. Nothing were too strong with spices, nothing tasted too MSGs, I can definitely feel/see each little ingredients they used for banchan, all of their menus are fresh. Where I found this is, I had a raw garlic slices for bbq, usually, if the garlics been kept a bit too long, they start to smell fermented and pickle-ish. This one had none of the smell, which means they were sliced freshly and served to you. Also, I sniffed each banchans, the cucumber banchan, Oyi geotjeori, had a really fresh scent of cucumber. That told me, they care each ingredients' freshness. Which is really good to know! The Chadol, paper thin sliced beef brisket, was DOPE. I can taste how good quality of meat they serve. The buttery taste from the beef, if the beef is the freshly treated, was melting inside of my mouth. BUT, today's MVP is someone else. While we were enjoying every bit of our table, the owner lady had given us a free complimentary jeon dish for us, the JANGACHI (soy sauce pickled veggie) was a jewel! Immediately, my eyes were sparkled to see this jangachi, I had to ask for more, then dip my chadols into the jangachi sauce and have the pickled veggies on top, and eat it with my kbbq! The 2% I was missing were fully filled. This little jewel ful-filled it to 100% and made today's kbbq dinner as an exceptional. Now I am so sad to return to my home town. I wish that they were located near my home so every week, I can bring my mother here and have a nice kbbq dinner together. I hope Songsan gets more highlighted for their dedication and exceptional food quality. The taste is absolutely fantastic too. Hope they get more recognized. Btw, the server working here is a young gentlemen, he is very kind and friendly. Overall, a great place to hang out at on a Friday evening. The server told us one meat dish was enough for two people, so we got two orders of meat (one samgyeopsal & one kalbi) and one order of a soup (that would apparently be enough for two people). We were a group of 4 (three girls and one guy), and were pretty shocked when the meats and soondubu came out because honestly it didn't look like enough to feed two people... The meat was definitely really good and well marinated, but it's definitely also pretty pricey for the amount that you are getting. The soondubu came out in those small black pots that are usually sold for one person (in other Korean restaurants in the US and Korea)... Flavored soju was also $15 a bottle, but that's a norm if you want soju in Philly. I stoped by here on my long drive home from Chicago. The traffics on I-476 was jam packed during afternoon rush hours, so a detour for takeout was a good break for stress relief. I ordered Bulgogi Bibimbap and Stir-Fried Kimchi. They also packed some delicious side dishes inside the takeout bag. The restaurant was located in a small town center area at Ardmore. It is set up to serve Korean BBQ on the table with electronic cooker. I came in really early around 5 pm before the crowd. The waiter had to look for the tiny takeout menu stuck by the window at the entrance. Great taste on the food and size dishes. It is a little bit pricy, maybe because the location of the neighborhood. Definitely worth a return visit to try their BBQ cooked on the table. I have tried Korean BBQ on charcoals and gas burner, but never on an electronic stovetop. read more

Stuffed with a ton of seafood, not greasy, and fried perfectly with a nice crisp. KFC - Korean fried chicken - really good! This is the sweet version and I don't think they have spicy. We started off with one order and had to get another bc the kids and adults all loved it. Banchan - lil side plates. Plenty and you can get as many refills as you like. Also, some of the meats are cooked prior, so you don't have to worry as much. Everyone that works here is really kind and helpful. As an appetizer, I had to try the K.F.C. wings, for the clever name, which stands for Korean Fried Chicken Wings. They were tasty and came in hot and mild. For the entree, I ordered the Kalbi, which is the short-ribs. I cannot stress enough that you have to try the short-ribs. They were a table favorite. They have a few beers to order from. Our family finally made it to Songsan for Sunday supper and left conflicted. To call our grilled meat dinner Korean or even fusion is sure exaggeration and disservice to the now ubiquitous briquette-style of table cooking. And yet there were many aspects of the meal we did like, a lot. Mostly, the tender cuts of meat, and the accompanying dipping sauces and salad/garnish of onions and garlic marinaded in soy sauce, vinegar and sugar. Absolutely loved them. Just went so well with the pork belly, especially. Even grilled over gas and over parchment paper, and with hardly any seasonings, our galbi, pork belly and brisket were delicious. Which speaks to the quality of the cuts, but the lack of the marinade was puzzling. And the appetizers, bulgogi spring rolls and bbq tacos, packed a flavor punch as well. Absolute fail was the fried rice, very little kimchi and bland. Couldn't distinguish any spices, absent was the customary sesame oil or pork, just mild gochujang sauce over dry hard rice. Average was the soft seafood tofu jiggae and steamed egg, as was the Banchan selection. And there was no ventilation, no hose over the grill to vacuum up the smoke. A serious hindrance in warmer months to come. Regardless, we'd return to sample the rest of the bbq choices. read more

It was . Seriously some of the best Korean bbq I've had. We went for a late lunch but ordered like it was dinner time. Everything came out at a great pace and our server was amazing. On top of it all and consistently refilled whatever banchan we wanted. My mom, who is typically so critical of spending money going out to eat, loved everything that was put in front of her.
