Time for my updated review of Sonia's waxing plus. I've been coming here for so many years now, Sonia and her team have become like extended family so I often forget to do these essential reviews often. I started with Sonia back in 2014 and I have frequented every single location Sonia's waxing plus has had over the years. I am always willing to travel near and far (from West Hills actually, lol) for services because it's worth it! Sonia and her team don't just do waxing services, they also do skin care which is important when getting waxing services. Sonia always checks the integrity of my skin, She can always tell if I have or have not exfoliated or when I have and have not used the Vanish, (always buy and use the vanish!) My skin is one of my best features, Sonia and her team are part of my beauty dream team that keeps my skin looking like GOLD! Always on time and on track with appointment times. They are very accommodating with availability too! The staff are always extremely helpful. Prices are perfect! Service and Care are excellent! It's a tiny hidden skin spa! Very private and comfortable. I've been a client over 10years now, and I've referred many of my friends and family members, and she is also on our company's preferred exclusive beauty services recommendations! They have amazing reviews so I was super excited to try them , $60 Brazilian wax but if you are trying for the first time it's $50 ....the wax seems good it's the hard wax that they use but there was a bunch of hairs she missed , it wasn't too bright in the room and they don't have a movable lamp to really look at fine hairs .. for $60 they should really get it all. read more

Marcia was the best! I came in for the first time today and had one of the best Brazilian waxes ever. Living in Manhattan I thought I was going to a great waxer but the strips were really time consuming and very painful. When I laid down and saw the deep honey colored wax I knew it was different right away. After years of getting Brazilian waxes at the Red Door Spa with traditional soft wax and muslin strips, I thought I'd see what all the Hard Wax Hoopla was about and tried Sonia's Waxing Plus in Roslyn Heights. Well maybe it's just me, but I found the hard wax much more painful than the strips, and the plucking for stray with tweezers afterward excruciating (something Red Door never does). While my waxer was pleasant and professional, the Roslyn location is basically a dump and the lobby area was dusty and dirty. I have returned to the Red Door Spa, it's worth the extra money for the comfort and cleanliness. read more

I love Sonia's Waxing! The imported Brazilian wax is the real thing! Most of the estheticians there are also Brazilian. They do not use cloth strips; they use strip-free hot wax, which they peel off methodically with gloved hands. The whole facility is very clean and sanitary. There are a couple of private rooms where you can get your cleanups done. Christiani does an excellent job and keeps a conversation going to keep the level of awkwardness low. :) As with all waxing, it can be a bit painful, but I have to say that it doesn't hurt as much as with strip wax. Also, if you book a Brazilian waxing appointment every 4 weeks and keep it, you get a 10% discount every time! $60 lowered to $54. How cool is that?? They also offer waxing for men, but those are priced differently. Electrolysis is also offered there. Walk-ins are welcome, as indicated on their window sign. Best waxing place I've been to so far ( and I've been to a lot!). Ok so first thing it is very clean and professional, they use gloves and the private waxing rooms are clean and sanitary with a relaxing atmosphere. I got my first Brazilian at Sonia's and I was extremely scared that it would be painful during, but especially after the wax as that had been my previous experience waxing other parts of the body like legs and arms. Other places use strips and soft wax which left my sensitive skin in pain for days and made me dread the next time I needed a wax. Sonia's was great Salua did my wax with hard wax that was very thick and stuck to the hair before ripping the wax( without strips) and the hair away from the skin. The first time having Brazilian it was less pain than any other part and any other wax I had ever gotten. After my wax it felt so smooth and clean and my skin didn't irritate at all underneath my clothes, there was honestly no discomfort it felt more comfortable with out the hair though. Small salon, amazing waxing service! They are almost always on time with appointments (+/- 5 minutes). They do a very thorough job with waxing, making sure to check if any hairs are left behind and going back with a tweezer to remove them. You never feel rushed and the process is relatively pain free. I went here after deciding I needed to start waxing again in preparation for summer. I wanted something on the cheaper side, but willing to pay more for someone experienced in brazilian waxes. I found Sonia's on yelp. It was extremely clean, and had nice lighting and music in the waxing room. I was nervous as waxes I've had in the past were very painful, and they didn't use gloves! They don't use the cloth strips - and I was amazed at how painless it was! Make sure you go to their website and print out their 15% coupon for your first visit...and if you go back every 4 weeks they give you a 10% discount, which makes it about 55? Was going to the Roslyn heights locations for Brazilians for about 6-7 months. The woman was so sweet and was really great but after a while I started to notice that my hairs were being ripped and I was getting ingrowns. She also was a little rough. I don't remember her name which is no help, but I don't want to give the wrong name, if I ever find her name I will update. I couldn't keep spending money to basically feel like I just shaved. Like I said, at first it was great and smooth results- so I don't know what happened. I noticed the technique was to pull the wax in the direction of the hair growth instead of the opposite direction which could have been why. Overall the place is clean and the staff is alright. I just have gone to too many places that rip my hairs so I have resorted to laser hair removal instead. read more

I could tell she wasn't too happy but she was sweet about it the whole time and stayed a bit later to accommodate me. The whole process was way better then waxing places that use cloth strips. Marcie was really nice and knew what she was doing. I would definitely return for her. Overall though my experience was okay. I had to wait for 10 minutes or a little more to be called in and they took someone before me even though I had been waiting before that person. Also, their website said 15% for new customers and when I asked about it the receptionist kept on saying the next time you come back you get $10 off. That made no sense to me and I was in a rush so I didn't argue. I will be going back but I really wish they were upfront about their prices and discounts. read more

Sonia's waxing is without a doubt the best place to get a Brazilian bikini half full wax whatever you need done. This place not only has excellent hospitality but its clean and fairly priced not too expensive but not cheap either , if you go on a month to month basis they give you a discount , so for say a full Brazilian normally being priced at 60$ you can get it for 54 if you book monthly appointments which I would suggest anyone to do! Stay away from shaving once you start waxing down there because it will be a death sentence once you actually start getting waxed then start shaving again. Long story short what makes this place amazing is no strips are used its basically a thick wax which they apply and pat down till it hardens a bit and pull of the wax so there is no painful messy paper. I have been a long time client at Sonia's Waxing for about 5 years. I have always loved how almost painless it is when getting my bikini area waxed, and how great my eyebrows look after I step out of her salon. Her method is using honey wax (that she makes herself, ingredients straight from Brazil) that dries on the skin which then highly trained estheticians peel off the skin is what makes it much less painful than using strips. And the prices are great! I would usually get my waxing at the East Northport location, but now I go to their new location in Huntington Station and it is gorgeous. If you want to pamper yourself with a beautiful, clean, and comfortable ambiance, I highly suggest going to Sonia's! It's the only place I trust. read more
