I got the hankering for something sweet. Which lead me to convincing my husband that we ought to all go to Sonic across town for a sweet treat. I got a chili dog, my daughter some fries, my husband ordered a chocolate shake and corn dog and I also ordered a cherry limeade. We waited in a little bit of a line leisurely looking at the sticker wall which I enjoyed. I like the Ted Cruz sticker the best but I do also like perusing what everyone has added to the growing collection. Instead of getting that chocolate shake my husband got a vanilla shake with chocolate and it was a happy accident it tasted so good. It was definitely topped with a cool whip and not a whipped cream but it was still a guilty pleasure. My cherry limeade was tasty. It reminded me of Braums cherry limeade from Oklahoma/Arkansas. Pure nostalgia. The pebbled ice was chefs kiss. The chili dog was good. I like the dog itself since it's juicy and doesn't have the Bar S taste I hate. Next time I know not to order it with everything though since I'm not a relish fan. Overall friendly service, guy at the drive thru way all smiles and I got the treats I wanted. read more

Gave this place another try as I was in the area and saw cars there so I assumed they were open this time. 1- when I drove up to the speaker to order the guy asked me what I wanted. I let him know I needed a moment to look at the menu. I began to order and he told me to wait a minute. A minute was 3 minutes of waiting to order. I ordered a sonic blast with Oreo and pretzel with cheese. 2- hopefully you can see in my photo this is the kind of place that gives you a cup of vanilla ice cream and knot the toppings on top. This place is a hot mess. They have unique drinks and some food items, where else can you get pickle fries?! Unpopular opinion is you are better off using the app. It just annoys me that they can do half price drinks in the app but that isn't a thing when you just drive up and order. Like why?! Same with the grocery stores, making you use an app if you want anything good. I get why this is popular in places where it's hot because the drinks are where it's at. (As long as they make them correctly which they definitely have not in the past.) I got a limeade slush for half price in the app, pickle fries, and $1 pretzel stick (also app deal) both pretzels were very dense and a bit undercooked. cheese was fine. The pickle fries were not crispy at all, but everything was very hot. I would not pay four dollars for a small pickle. The batter was very soggy. It's like they were so hot because they microwaved them. I ordered in the app then you drive into a stall to order. The lobby was closed. It has been closed as far as I know except when it first opened and that was a hot mess as well. Nobody was in the drive thru. This time my order took 15 minutes. He brought me regular tea and when I told him I didn't want sugar added cause then the sugar just sits on the bottom that I bought sweet tea from there before and there was no problem, but the day that I went, there was a problem so then this other guy comes from around the backside and says here didn't you make her one and he goes and add sugar to the tea and comes back to me and I said I told you I didn't want it because you put sugar in it. See what it does on the bottom of the cup. It just sits there you can see the sugar you added it. They didn't offer my money back. Nothing they didn't have no customer service. This location is still very broken. Why? How hard can it be to run a Sonic? It has been years now, and still this location can't get it together. We tried to go there this evening, pulled into a spot (we just wanted shakes, and the app has said all week that this location isn't doing app orders), hit the red button, and they came in to say they weren't serving parking spots, only drive thru. Why? Why is this Sonic so bad? Last time we were here, last September, they simply screwed up the order, and we didn't catch it until about ten miles down the Seward highway. So no app orders, the half off shake deal is app only, so can't do that, can't order in a parking spot, and drive thru had a long line. We ended up at McD across the street. If I could give it 0 stars I would. I ordered a drink for myself, and a Reese's sonic blast for my husband. As soon as we pulled away he asked me to try his blast because it tasted weird. I tried it and it legit tasted like an ashtray. Like someone dumped the Reese's with cigarette ash and mixed it or something. We brought it back and told them it tasted like an ashtray. They re-made it and guess what? Still tastes like ashtray. Did someone dump an ashtray in the ice cream machine or something? I really like their blasts and slushes but this location really struggles with staffing. The staff that are there are generally great but the lack of adequate staffing means the outside pickup areas are often closed and you have to go inside to pick up mobile orders. Not complaining but when you order via a mobile app you expect to pull in and grab it, and then you get the surprise when you pull in and have to stand inside for 30 minutes for a drink. read more

I would wait for a long long time to come here, so that they can straighten out the scattered system they have going on in the drive thru. Not only are there long long wait times in the drive through (20 mins to 1 hour), they don't get their orders right on a frequent basis. I waited in line for a half hour for a hamburger and fries and they completely got the order entirely wrong. I ended up knocking on their back door to let them know that my order wasn't right and I'd appreciate it if they fixed it. They did and even brought me out extra fries and a drink. That was very kind of them. Still, they really should do better. I'm sure over time they will, but right now they need to fix their ordering system. read more

Sonic is not known for great food. Drinks and ice cream, yes, food - not so much. This review is for the service here, not the food or drinks. I adore Sonic's drink selections. Where else can you get a blackberry iced tea? But this location is ridiculously bad. I understand that this is Alaska and you are dependent on your supply chain, which often kind of forgets that Alaska is still part of the United States! I understand when you can't make a drink because you don't have all of the components, but it sucks when you are just incompetent and don't know how to do your job. They disable ordering through the app when they get too busy, which is ALWAYS! (Although if you complain, AND you get the right person, they will give you the in app price) My BIL managed/owned a Sonic in Texas for many years, so I know how good Sonic can be. (For context, one of my coworkers lived in my BIL's Sonic's neighborhood and went there fairly frequently (small suburb of Denton Tx. Your choices were Sonic, McDonald's or Dairy Queen, or drive to town) and she raved about what a good Sonic it was. My BIL never met her and had no idea that she knew me, and I never said that that was my BIL's store. He's just a really good manager!) The store on Huffman always looks full of workers, so I don't understand what the problem is. Well, no, that's not true. The problem is management. Management sets the tone and a good manager knows how to do every job. Not every manager is a good trainer, however. Personally, I suck at training, but I didn't choose to buy a Sonic franchise! I have never seen an employee that I could tell was the manager. That might be the layout of the store, because this store has an eat-in section, where most Sonics back in the states are stall/drive thru only, with plenty of windows. This one, the kitchen is pretty concealed from the public, except what you can see from the drive thru. You can't see if the crew is playing with each other instead of working, or how clean it is, although I have seen their bathrooms and I dearly hope that the kitchen is cleaner! This is Alaska, where we accept a lot of mediocrity, so I predict that this review will have zero impact on the state of this store, but I would be ashamed if this was my business. What a terrible owner/manager you are! And for anyone who wants to recreate their own Sonic drink, but doesn't have a nugget icemaker, get your ice from Raising Cane's. I tried to go today 3/9/22 around 7pm and was told they were closing early due to short staff and was basically suggested to get out of line by the sonic attendant guy that I didn't make the cut to stay in line to order. They said it was too late and couldn't accommodate even though there was only one car behind us. We ordered two cheeseburger meals only for the burgers to have only tomato's and a gross amount of mayo. It was a disappointing burger and we toss them in the trash. The fries and tater tots were old. The only good thing was the dirty Dr Pepper drink. We will never go here again. The Huffman location is horrible. Thrilled to see Sonic coming to Anchorage! I've missed their Cherry limeades dearly since moving up from Texas. Given the long lines we've seen down Huffman, I put on my patient pants and decided to brave the drive-thru for lunch on Friday. It was only a 20 minute wait or so in the drive-thru, and service was very friendly and courteous. We ordered a Texas Toaster burger with bacon and cheese, as well as a chili cheese coney dog, coupled with some tots and fries. Everything came out as ordered, they even remembered to 86 the onions! After a quick trip home, we enjoyed a little taste of home right here in Anchorage! read more

Sonic on Huffman in Anchorage: Man leaving as we entered said "good luck" on his way out. Only other person in dining room said he had been waiting for a gift card and one drink. We were going to order full meals, but changed our mind at seeing everyone else's experience, and only ordered 2 drinks. Staff was rude and when we left finally, the guy waiting on one drink and a gift card was still there and the staff didn't know what the problem was. Place was disgusting, bathrooms had not been cleaned any time recently. Dining room was filthy. Shoes stuck to the floor. And before anyone says you are still short staffed, I will say you can hire a cleaning company to come in at night if you have to. Leaving the place filthy has no good reasons. And if the dining room looked that way, I am afraid to think what the kitchen looked like. The tables had cute fall runners and decorations.... which do not matter at all if the table is too dirty to sit at. The place only had a few cars in the drive, only a couple in the car hops, and only one guy in the dining room. Once again, Alaska workers and management are killing a chain restaurant that thrives down south. read more

My wife is a huge fan of the Sonic Limeaide drink , keep that in mind. We noticed the drive thru open today and decided to come back when we finished an appointment. After driving back from across town we waited 15 minutes in the drive thru lane after finding there is no in store counter service and all of the outdoor order stalls were full. Service at the pick up window is fast and friendly, however 2 miles down the road my wife discovered that what she got tasted like club soda with no lime or lime flavor. Apparently store opening issues have not been solved. $3.29 for club soda is not my preference. We won't go back for a while, she is just going to have to wait for her Sonic hot dog. read more

I thought sonic would be a nice change of pace for the fast food in Anchorage, I've been there a few times, and it's been OK, the drive-through takes for freaking ever. The last two times I've been there, have been met with major disappointments. No spoons for their Blasts meaning that it was melted by the time I got home for a spoon. Also they forgot about the barbecue sauce for the chicken. This last time I had mozzarella sticks and as I drove away I checked the bag for marinara sauce, there was none there. I called up the store, got a young manager who said yes, they were out. Why didn't they told me this when I even asked for marinara sauce, I wouldn't have ordered them knowing that. When I told him this, he abruptly said they were out along with spoons and quickly hung up on me. I called back and they wouldn't answer the phone. Wow, great customer service, NOT. Very rude, if they were my employees I would've fired them on the spot. Definitely never going back to this place and will not recommend it to anybody ever read more
