I've been going to pizza man since 1988 when we moved to Eagle River, it had long been the metric with which I've judged pizza. It was the pizza reference I grew up with when I came of age and learned what a pizza was. That said over the past years, the points we had amassed as we were weekly or every other week pizza na families and often multiple lunches per week at pizza man. That stopped after this last Thursday. We had a late evening of soccer, then a power outage occurred and we had no ability to cook, thought taking a pizza to go would be ok. We ordered and headed that way. Upon arriving, we asked to change our pick up order to a dine in option as the kids and I wanted drinks and sodas. The hostess said "that shouldn't be a problem, let me clean off a table and I can seat you." It seemed out of courtesy that she notified the server that she was seating an adult and three kids, "they already ordered their pizza just want drinks and salads too." The server, a shortish woman about 5'5" long curly dark hair some visible tattoos was told this. She turned and said to the hostess "they ordered to go, they get their pie and get outta here." I said "hold on, we haven't paid for anything yet, we just want to sit and eat and we will still pay for everything, even tipping, just don't want to eat pizza outdoors or in the car." Her response was "you shoulda thought of that before you placed an order, pay for your pizza and get outta here." While this was happening, there was another couple who had done the exact same thing in the front dining area-eating out of to go boxes as they too "changed their mind." I love pizza man I hated that server If you wonder why you're losing customers-look within the staff you've hired. I didn't pay for the pizza and it's unfortunate I said "this fucking place has gin so fucking far downhill from where you used to be." Literally a staple of the community and hiring shitbags and others who treat YOUR customers like shit. How fucking dare you. I'm sure I won't get the response I'm looking for. But I hope everyone who is thinking of going to pizza man reads this and rethinks paying any money to your business. It's so sad to see a company who was so great to a community succumb to greed and assholeism that is too prevalent in our society Politely Go fuck yourselves What sucks is that I have to even give A star so it'll work in some metric for yelp. I'm going to miss this pizza place. The pizza is pretty good and my favorite in Eagle river. But I won't order pizza there ever again. Every time I order and pay cash the driver says they don't have change. Literally everytime. So I'm forced forced to give 20-40 dollars tips because they "they dont have change" . As you can see on the recipe it says I'm using a 100 dollar bill. This was the last time. Do not pay with cash if you order delivery. read more

horrible service, we specifically mentioned that one of our party members didnt eat meat due to religion, and there was a "mix up because of a small window" and we got a pizza with meat on it instead of the veggie pizza we ordered. In addition, one of the pizzas we ordered wasnt even cut, we had to ask to get it cut two times until they finally went and took their time with it. Even when we asked for plates, one of us had to go get it. the plates were a couple of steps from our table! the food wasnt even worth it, the cheese was rubbery and would always slide right off of the pizza. would not recommend 0/10. read more

Food quality has slipped compared to a few years ago but still decent, but definitely not what it used to be. Also, while they state they're open until 10:30pm, don't expect to be seated for dine‑in if you walk in around 10:00pm. It feels like the closing time doesn't match the actual service cutoff. read more

Pizza Man is reliable, tasty and affordable. The service is good, even when you're just picking up your pie. This restaurant fed my family and I many, many nights. My only gripe is the seating since it's gets so crazy busy on weekends. read more

We stopped in for lunch today and it's changed a little since the last time we visited. The food is good, not as good as I remember but still really good. We sat in the back room this time and it's well smelly. Like old building/people smell. We got a cheese pizza and the pizza man special. Everything is made when you order it so plan on waiting a bit. My sister got the salad bar and that was still spot on. I ate a few of her lettuce leaves and dressing lol. The pizza man special has pepperoni, salami, sausage, black olives, green peppers, extra cheese and we added tomato on top. Oh and extra sauce one one half. On my half i said no black olives, add extra sauce. Well that extra sauce cause my dough to be raw. The other side was cooked fine. But yall they made a whole new pizza and we took it to go. Except this time we did the sauce on the side. We now have enough pizza everyone can get 2 slices. read more

Our first time for a Pizza Man pizza... and I would definately recommend them. A large Pizza Man Pizza along with a large Mediterranean Salad. Plenty of great ingredients on both for a reasonable price. They were helpful when we called in the order, it was ready and hot when we picked it up. I can't rate the eating inside experience, but the carry out experience will bring me back. I would pick this pizza over our recent Moose's Tooth pizza any day. read more

I happened to stumble in here while waiting for a pizza from the pizza joint next door (Pizza Man). I had no idea this place even existed, they had a little grand opening in June of 2024 and have been doing a great job ever since. They carry Big Dipper and Umpqua ice creams and have a great variety! They make their own waffle cones and they have a super cool chalk board on the wall where people doodle. It was a little tough to get service, it they were super nice and let me have LOTS of samples. I am for sure planning on stopping here after fishing and adding it to my regular Pizza Man experience. read more

I'm impressed. The meatball pizza (add ricotta) AMAZING! The crust is so good and I love a good crust. It's a no frills, dive type place but the service is friendly and the pizza was delicious! They accommodated our party of 9 with a smile. This could be a 5 star review if they clean the place up more and invest in better decor. read more

Another visit, still don't understand the hype. Ambiance is dated and busted. Service is glacial. Pizza is average at best. Number of beer taps is above average, but they are all from only a handful of breweries. On the brightside, at least most are Alaska breweries. read more

With 8 visits under our belt it's time to put pen to paper regarding Pizzaman. It gets a decent thumbs up from us. They have the most complete salad bar I've seen in a long time. Kidney beans, baby corn, chickpeas, cucs, shrooms, eggs and much, much more. You can order the return trip SB (we have) and forget everything else. The food is good, not great. I must say I had a teriyaki reindeer dinner over rice that was very tasty. The portion was so big I only finished half. It heated up nicely at home, too. I didn't care for their spaghetti or the lasagna. Let's talk pizza. They are in the top three for pizza with us. While they are a bit heavy on the sauce, the ingredients were terrific. Again, this heated up very well at home the next day. The biggest issue we have is the service. Very bad. Each time we visit there's a huge party in the back room. They are understaffed for starters and their timing is not the best. When the salad arrives WITH the pizza or it's fifteen minutes between visits from the server, there's a problem. Over the weekend, we were so hungry and waited for an initial visit for so long, we just grabbed plates and went to the salad bar. The host was good enough to fetch us drinks. But the server never showed. Even though he said she was aware (not to mention she walked past us several times) she never stopped at the table until she greeted us by dropping off the check. We tipped him. This happened on a Saturday when the Bear Paw festival drew most of their customers away. Carry out may be your best bet on this place and avoid the iced tea. I use to love this place and would order every time I am in the area or passing through. However, it's been going downhill and the quality and consistency is not there. I order their hot subs all the time, but the last few times it's been so inconsistent from having different bread, to bread not even toasted. I've tried to order throughout the year hoping it would get back to the same as before, but unfortunately it has not. I like supporting local businesses but they are really making it hard! read more

Pizzaman has is one of Eagle Rivers oldest and best restaurants. They make excellent pizza and Italian meals and sandwiches. The pizza is made from fresh ingredients and baked to your request. They have several house named pizzas that will satisfy most diners desires. But if none of their creations are what you want, they give you an opportunity to design your own pizza from a large selection of ingredients. They have a salad bar that you can choose to make your own salad with their prepared vegetables and salad makings or they will bring you a different salad. They have several delicious desserts. A very long list of craft brewed excellent and regional beers in an iced mug, schooner, or pitcher. They have hard ciders and domestic beers. They have the normal selection of non-alcoholic drinks. There is a large number of tables and booths that are often filled for both lunch and dinner. They offer carry out and delivery and you can sign up for a points loyalty program. They also have lunch specials every day during Monday to Friday. Pizzaman does serve alcohol, but it is definitely a family place. They have parking on both sides of the street and behind the restaurant. Parking does get very crowded during lunch and peak dining times. It is a great place to eat. read more

This place is hit or miss. The food can be amazing at times, other times lacking. Pizzas can be great or lacking sauce. Toppings can be forgotten. I think a solid bet would be the burgers, some appetizers, and the wings. I haven't tried everything on the menu. It's pretty extensive. Eagle River isn't very big and is seriously limited on options. All I wish for is more consistency with this place. read more

My husband and I regular this place, it is regular everyday food and perfect for when you don't want to cook. Quick seating, large frosty schooners, creative & delicious weekly specials. Today I ordered the Large Chicken Cobb Salad. It was monumental! Wait staff is quick and knowledgeable about the menu items. I must have forgotten how bad this place was. I was really hungry and decided to try them after two years. Well, that was dumb, the pizza is worse. They screwed up my order and refused to make it right unless I drove the pizza back to them and proved they made a mistake. Zero offer to deliver me a new one. Under the new ownership I definitely think that this place has gotten way better than with the previous owner. The pizza was super good and the service super nice. The place definitely has got way better overall the bathrooms are new remodeled and the carpet and paint was new. I can tell this new owner really has put in the effort to make this place nice. There is a severe lack of restaurants in Eagle River. We do not mind driving down to Anchorage to dine, but in terms of getting take out close to home there are not many options. I am not a fan of chain restaurants, and prefer to patron locally owned and operated establishments. I will only eat at a chain if the food situation only presents such an option. When it comes to getting a pizza to go in ER you're pretty much only presented with chains. Pizza Man is the one stand alone option that meets my "I do not want to patron a chain" needs. Disclaimer: I have only ever ordered take out from here so I cannot speak for the dine in experience. And I have only ordered pizza and a gyro so I cannot really speak to the extent of other menu items. Service over the phone and at the register is always quick, and friendly. So absolutely no complaints there! The pizza is just meh. There's really no other way to describe it. It's not good, it's not bad. It satisfies a pizza craving, but is nothing exciting. And you do not feel any elation during or after your meal. It's pretty much just a more upscale version of Papa John's or Domino's. The pizza is amply saucy and cheesy, which is good. They do not skimp on toppings. But, the dough is pretty bland. For the price sometimes I think I should break my chain rule, but I have not yet. One time I ordered a gyro, and that was a real disappointment in terms of portion size. The meat was fairly dry, and the tzatziki was flavorless. It's safe to say that our take out pizza habit has significantly decreased since moving to Eagle River. The pizza here is ok. I do not think this place would be as popular if ER had other options. Will I probably order a pizza to go here again? Yes. Will I feel a sense of disappointment after doing so? Probably. read more

Love to stop in at Pizza Man whenever I am near Eagle River. I have been stopping here for over 20 years and the pizza is consistently good. This time I decided to try one of their hot sub sandwiches. Comes with a generous helping of ruffles potato chips. I got the hot Italian sandwich and was not disappointed. The sandwich is huge. Best Pizza place in Anchorage and Eagle River. We went to Pizza Man for a birthday party last week. Three things. Service was great, food was great and the restaurant was clean and tidy. The food was fast, hot and yummy. It was busy and the staff was hopping and on it. Super friendly and fun to banter with. You can really see the work and love the owner has put into the restaurant.
