Well first time here in Buffalo and it was great just to get on. Chose dining room instead of drive through and no room for drive up. They had cash only and credit only cashier so cash was a little longer. Waited only 7 minutes for food. Our waiter brought our food on roller blades. Downfalls gave us no napkins and the wrong sauce for chicken bites. And have to wait for him to cone around to ask. French fries are excellent!!! Hot dog was ok nit grilled almost steamed. All american toppings are excellent. Tater tots are good but not as flavorful of fries. Tried the chicken bites so good really don't need sauce. And not crunchy either. It's about time that we've gotten a Sonic in Buffalo! Like any chain restaurant, you have the staple items and quick service. If I ever have any errors in my menu items, the staff take care of it efficiently and effectively! The milkshakes and Sonic Blasts are heavenly - a mini can suffice for the small as they are huuuuuge! Typical fast food items that are okay and the slushees are great as well. In the past times I've stopped in, Mecca and Jack have been the absolute best! For so many years we had Sonic commercials here in WNY and no Sonic! My friends and I took a road trip at one point to Pittsburgh, in a snow storm for their yummy treats. Now that we have one, the tots and frozen treats are well within reach! I like this location. You can eat in your vehicle, inside the restaurant or on the patio. So many options!! Their menu is huge, and they have specials all the time. The full menu is available regardless of where you choose to eat, and your servers bring your food out on roller skates! So cool! The chicken tender box is the best bargain apart from their slushee happy hour. Tenders, fries or tots, an onion ring, and bread. What a steal! We decided to take a field trip to Sonic since we have never been there before today. I downloaded their app because I seen a promo where you get half off slush drinks when you order that way. My first thought pulling in was that it didn't look very safe for the sonic employees... they are on roller skates coming out of the restaurant pretty fast when there's cars pulling out and driving through in both directions.. plus it was raining I felt bad for them. Ordering was very quick and easy at the "stalls". They did forget my corn dog but I went back around and got it. We wanted to try a little bit of everything to see what we liked.. we got a double cheeseburger, onion ring, corn dog, and popcorn chicken. Double cheeseburger was VERY salty, onion rings were extremely greasy, I ended up spitting the corn dog out because the hot dog inside was GRAY, the popcorn chicken was actually good and edible. For drinks I tried the Red Bull slush with a cherry.. they charged me 30 cents for ONE cherry and the drink tasted like a flat Red Bull with twice the sugar... YUCK! And I LOVE Red Bull... from the can. They gave us complimentary peppermints but honestly they were barely minty... maybe that slush messed with my taste buds... I will never go back unfortunately. Strike 1 We are remodeling our kitchen, so we are eating out more frequently. Sometimes we will take the time to go for a sit-down meal - but often we have been looking for something quick and convenient. Of the fast food places around us, Sonic Drive-In is close and is one of my wife's favorites. So we decided to get takeout from there on Saturday around 11:00. The poor rating I have given Sonic was mostly from the drive-thru experience. Sonic has two lanes to facilitate ordering drive-thru. When we arrived they were slow - only one car in one of the lanes. I drove into the second lane and waited to place the order. The other car drove away and another car pulled into its place. That is when I noticed that they started to take their order instead of coming over to me. Their order took a while. It was almost 5 minutes before they finally got back to me. We ordered a SuperSonic breakfast burrito with no tomatoes and a Philly Steak sandwich (both with sides and drinks). We pulled around and there was still the car that had initially ordered, the vehicle that took a while to order, and finally us. To make a long story short, Sonic took a long time. It took them almost a half hour to get our food. When we finally got to the window, what made it worse is that they were not the least apologetic and were confused what order was ours (there was only one car behind us). The food was ok. My Philly sandwich was above average for a fast-food restaurant and both it and my tots were hot and correct. My wife was really looking forward to trying the breakfast burrito. Unfortunately, they ignored us not wanting tomatoes and it was loaded with a disproportionate amount of jalapenos. Therefore, my wife had to take it apart and repurpose it to make it edible for her. Definitely not a good experience to say the least. Strike 2 My wife really wanted to get the breakfast burrito again, in hopes that they would make it correctly and it would live up to its potential. We arrived at 11:00AM on Monday. We were the only car in the drive-thru when we arrived and the ordering experience was much better than our last visit the previous Saturday. I had enjoyed the Philly sandwich, so I played it safe and ordered that again. Feeling adventurous, I ordered a side of tots with cheese, onions and jalapenos with jalapenos on my sandwich as well. My wife ordered a Jr. Sausage Burrito (as-is) and Cinnabon Cinnasnacks and my step-son got Popcorn Chicken with Mozzarella Sticks. The food came promptly, but I am glad we checked the order because they forgot my Philly Sandwich. I sat there for a while to get their attention but they finally gave it to me. But they really made me feel like I was inconveniencing them. I was starting to feel the same sourness I felt from the last time. The food was more the issue this time. They did not put jalapenos on my sandwich and messed up my tots. Worse, the egg on my wife's burrito was very overcooked to the point of being inedible. At that point, we had to go to a picnic so we did not have time to go back and address these issues. Shame on us for trying them again. Strike 3 My step-son loves ice cream. On the way back from a craft store, my wife called me to ask if I would like some ice cream. I asked from where and she responded Sonic. That made me laugh given the bad experience we had had there the last several days. Ultimately, it was what our son wanted, so she gave in and was going to give them a shot at redemption. I asked for a small Strawberry Cheesecake Blast with Oreo pieces as an add-on. My wife and son also ordered Blasts, but I do not know what flavors. I will say that the small size is a fairly large portion. The strawberry flavor was decent and complimented the ice cream well. The cheesecake pieces had an odd texture and flavor which would make me never choose anything cheesecake related from Sonic ever again. And BTW - no Oreo pieces even though we were charged for them. It is beyond frustrating to have gone here 3 times (shame on us) on different days, at times when they were not very busy and there were errors EVERY TIME. My advice to you if you are going through the Drive-Thru would be to double check your food. There is no excuse to get orders wrong so consistently. The standard of this restaurant is very low currently and I absolutely do not recommend it. read more

My favorite time to come here is for half off shakes after 8pm. Half the time I feel like I'm getting the wrong shake (somehow last night I got a caramel shake and my boyfriend ordered peanut butter but they tasted exactly the same). Went way out of my way to try the hype that is Sonic! Arrived at off peak hours and found that not only was the entrance from the main road blocked and traffic funneled throuh a side street and down the road past yet a second blocked entrance. Once directed through the back of the plaza I was told it would be a 30 minute wait and by the looks of it, I was going to be sitting for much longer. Not cool but its new so I decided to drive around the parking lot and see what was exactly going on. What I saw was they built a Sonic, RIGHT next door to a Teds and were not only blocking the entrances for Teds patrons, but trying to redirect everyone to the Sonic wait in line service. I found this to be a bold move since Teds is a local favorite for a LOT of people. After waiting for the 30 minutes, me and my girl decided to just skip the whole ordeal and went directly to Teds. Hands down, one of the best fast food places ever! I love their tots (I never get their fries because tots are just better in my opinion) and their boneless wings. They have plenty of sauces to choose from, so many that it's almost impossible to pick. Their cherry limeade is also really good! However, the one food item that I dislike about this place, are their burgers. I feel like it's not a good value, so that's one thing I would stay away from... This was a fun and much anticipated visit! We've all seen the commercials for years, wishing we could try it locally! Sonic was still slammed when we went. They had employees directing traffic to the multiple lines to experience sonic; dine in, drive through, and the more classic, eat in your car option. We decided to eat in Sonic itself. Mostly, the employees on skates were only taking orders out to cars. I'm not sure if this was because it was so busy, or if people in regular shoes will always bring the food in the restaurant. After placing your order, you get a placard, and they deliver the food to your seat. The employees were friendly, and handled the massive crowd well. As for the food, it was good. I had a cheeseburger, and opted for the tater tots instead of fries. It was a decent, less expensive meal. I wouldn't wait in the crazy hours-long lines, but it was a nice alternative to other fast food options. Horrible experience. I received a notification that if i ordered through the app that I could order their newest sandwich at half price. When I added to order and went to check out, the app said there was an error and couldn't process it. I tried a few times and it just wasn't happening. I was fine with it, figured I'd go inside and have the clerk help me. What a mistake. The way they have the set up for indoor orders is ridiculous. I have to stand in line and watch as the cashier looks the people standing in front of them, but takes the order from the drive thru. I'm there first, but the person in the drive thru orders over and over again before me. Then the cashier attempts to help me, but has to call a 'manager' who was rude and condescending. I never do this, but I just walked out and didn't order anything. Never happens. I can work even with difficult people, this was insane. Never going back. I really wanted to love Sonic, believe me I did. Maybe I went on an off day, but the food did not sit well with me at all. I ordered the buffalo boneless wings (exactly what you would expect, nothing worse nothing better) and their pickle-o's (fried pickles). Fried pickles are one of my favorite appetizers and they're kind of hard to mess up, but Sonic managed to mess them up. Their coating had zero seasoning on it! They tasted so plain and it was such a let down. Three stars because after pressing the button to get service, being told that they would be right with us, waiting ten minutes and not being helped leading us to press the service button again, their service was really fast and friendly. No, I'm not talking about that blue cartoon guy who's always around. I'm talking about sweet, sweet love. Sonic is the love child of Dairy Queen and Mickey D's because you can get everything from popcorn chicken to a hot dog to a slushie to a "sonic blast" (their version of a Dairy Queen blizzard). I love their chicken and anything ice cream related. I also think their buns are a little bit better than average fast food buns. So why the four star review? Simple nostalgia. I was not around during the time of the carhops (1921- 1960s), but I've longed for that experience. Sure, Sonic doesn't have silly costumes but they still wear roller skates and there are a few employees who are really lovely at this location. There's also a drive thru and you can go inside. I'm happiest after a shift at House of Horrors and I'm covered in fake blood and the employees chat us up. Atmosphere doesn't mean much to me in general, but Sonic is an exception. This was my first visit to a Sonic. I have seen the advertisements on television and was really looking forward to the experience; boy, was I wrong and mislead. I pulled into a space and ordered a #2 burger, fries and a drink. Not knowing the system I offered to pay and was told over the intercom that I should pay when served. The order was complete as they announced the time on the radio which was 7:12 p.m. I noticed other folks pulling in after me, ordering and in what seemed to be 8 or 10 minutes they would receive their orders. I looked around and saw folks had pulled away decided to push the red button to inquire about my order. Again, the announcer on the radio indicated it was 7:46 p.m. the gentleman who answered the red bell inquired about my order which I had placed 34 minutes before. It was obvious when I inquired that the didn't have my order!!! I went into the restaurant and inquired in person--/again they didn't have my order! This was disappointing--as I said, this was my first experience at a Sonic and will be my last!! It was a horrible initial experience with an attitude of ' couldn't care less' customer service. Sonic has become a regular stop whenever I go to Galleria Mall. I love trying out different combinations of slushies and I really like their tater tots and popcorn chicken. Their chicken sandwiches and burgers are actually really delicious as well (like way better quality than other fast food chains imo). Their pricing is great for what you get and the drive in eating experience is something you won't get anywhere else. Their service is always great, there were times when I asked for extra ketchup and they did not hesitate to rollerskate out with more ketchup. I visited Sonic last night for the first time. We initially thought about having the authentic experience of the server skating up to our car, while we ordered from the menu touch screen, but as soon as we pulled up to one of the car hops, it felt so lazy. We decided to park and eat inside instead. The inside of this particular Sonic was surprisingly very clean for a fast food place. There was no line, so we were able to order right away...though, since the menu was new to us, it took a moment to digest everything. I opted for a Brown Sugar Bourbon milkshake to accompany my cheeseburger and tots (as recommended by the cashier). The food was pretty standard, but I enjoyed it...though I couldn't finish the milkshake because it was just too much food for me. I'm not sure I would rush back here, mainly because we don't eat a lot of fast food. I think we went more because we'd never been to a Sonic before. Now we can say we've tried their food, and that's that. Similar to being in a new city and trying In-and-Out Burger, or Chick-Fil-A for the first time...once you try it, the novelty wears off. read more
