TLDR: The drive-in experience at this Sonic is not particularly compelling but it's still better than the drive-thru. Food-wise, the only thing that interests me is the happy hour pricing on slushes and limeades. Although this location has a drive-thru, I recommend the drive-in experience because it's really the only reason to come here and you won't necessarily get faster or better service waiting behind 4-8 other cars at the drive-thru. When you pull into a numbered drive-in stall, you can take your time browsing the menu before pushing the red button to order. After the stall attendant takes your order and repeats it back to you, you can either pay by dipping your card into the magnetic strip reader (whoa, outdated) or pay when the car hop comes to your car with your order. My total waiting time from ordering to eating was less than five minutes at a drive-in stall, but the ordering process was rife with difficulty. It was a little windy, so the speaker attendant had trouble hearing me. He also didn't confirm whether my payment went through, and just abruptly ended the call after repeating my order back to me. The carhop was friendly, but she wasn't wearing the signature roller skates that Sonic carhops are supposed to wear. I'm guessing this is due to the severe lack of job applicants who know how to roller skate (they're all teenagers). I ordered a standard burger combo with fries, which was fine, but the real knockout was the peach slush. The two mints that came with my order were a nice touch, as were the extra napkins. I'm surprised almost of all the recent reviews for this location are complaining about the drive-THRU rather than drive-IN, since the latter is an experience unique to Sonic and the time spent waiting just to reach the drive-thru window is noticeably longer than at a drive-in stall. Why people are somehow expecting fast-food service here while idling in their cars and wasting gas like they're at a McDonald's drive-thru is an interesting consumer behavior enigma. (Spoiler: it's because most of them are paying with cash and/or not using mobile/online ordering.) Had a footlong hotdog with chili and onions and it was terrific. Nice to be able to pull up to a drive thru window in this area and get a hotdog. I think that Checkers is the only other mainstream franchise fast food restaurant with hotdogs and a drive thru. I can't recall even one of the sporadically placed Nathan's (hotdogs are their specialty for those who don't know) that has a drive thru. The cheesesteak is pretty good and their specialty drinks are works of art. Their new offerings have to be sampled and then- to each his/her own. For instance, their version of the smash burger has grown on me. I love snashburgers but their burger is just almost delicious. I've tried it several times to see if I can acclimate my palate to their version. Admittedly, I am close to enjoying it. Not sure whether it's my tastebuds or their sandwich, but they sent me a coupon to try one for a dollar. That was my third sampling and honestly that burger seemed to have an improved flavor. I waited 15 minutes for them to open at 9:30 because I don't get sonic very often. I ordered two foot-long chili cheese Coney and it comes up that they are not available at this location at this time. Very disappointing. What?!? No footlongs for breakfast? Bathrooms locked past opening time. When unlocked, the huge rock as an alternative for a working door lock was inventive but very difficult for me to maneuver. I am torn between giving them a 2 or a 3! I have been to many Sonic's over the years and I have never ever been a fan of their food. It has always been terrible. But their drinks are so good! 5/5 for drinks, but 1/5 for food... I have tried almost everything on the menu over the years, fries, tater tots, chicken nuggets/bites, chicken strips, burgers, chicken sandwiches, dogs... Everything. I have tried almost every item on the menu, and it taste terrible... Even my wife who loves fast food agreed with me lol! This time we got a cherry limeade (stellar) and my wife got an ice tea which she loved. We also got the cinnamon bites which tasted like cinnamon paste and was not appetizing at all. We got some chicken bites which only tasted like cinnamon, and tater tots which only tasted like cinnamon. The only food which we actually enjoyed was the pretzel stick! Other than that, it was terrible... The service was ok, after ordering it took about 5 minutes to get the food... The 2 people at the window seemed more interested in flirting with each other than actually helping us lol! All in all, if you want a drink, this is the place to go! Went to car hop, didn't realize car hop is closed in the rain, an employee starts screaming out me from the door saying "pull up to the drive thru i don't want my fucking employees to get wet". This was my first time at any Sonic, but I wasn't really impressed and wouldn't really care to go back. My partner wanted to go here to pick up something to eat for lunch. I wasn't really hungry so I got the bacon Mac and cheese bites. He ordered a hamburger with bacon and cheese and he got the meal with fries and drink. My partner ordered a bacon cheeseburger meal, but when he opened it up, there was no hamburger patty. Yep, just bread, cheese and bacon, and not even in a way that could pass for a grilled cheese. At this point we were already back on the road and he didn't want to turn back as there was a lot of traffic. His fries were cold and I had a couple immediately upon receiving our bag, so it wasn't because he waited too long to eat them, we received them that way. Cold fries?! That's a huge no-no in fast food 101. They tasted like they'd been sitting out for quite awhile. My Mac and cheese bites were pretty good. Where my partner's fries were cold, these were piping hot. They had a big bacon flavor which I'm not really into but most people are so I think that would be considered a plus for most. What I liked the best about them is they weren't dry, which happens often when restaurants and fast food places decide to make Mac and cheese into something other than the macaroni dish served in a bowl. I added a star because of the bites, I really can't find any fault in them. However, the service and the other food we received was below expectations even for a fast food drive thru. There is always an exceptionally long wait (30+ minutes) for orders to be brought out that are always short items, even though I always reconfirm the order back to the clerk when serving the order. I would recommend the ice cream shakes and ice slushes only!!! When I first here, I tried the chicken tenders, tater tots, and mozzarella sticks, but I really was not a fan! I've had way better fast food than those, but then later, I realized that its the slushes and ice cream shakes that you must get, which I now absolutely agree! You should try mixing flavors of the slushes too! I love watermelon and kiwi together! It's also a pretty cool experience to drive in, order and eat in the car or drive away. Would rate this a negative -5 if I could. Waited over 40 minutes before I started to write this review as me and my girlfriend waited at the park and order lot at sonic. We were waiting for a $10 order of two milkshakes an order of tots and a chili cheese dog. I buzzed the girl after 40 minutes asking when our food would arrive and she said they were backed up and our food would be right out and yet the drive thru was being served one car after the other as we waited another 20 minutes. You would think we were getting a steak and lobster for how long we were waiting. At the one hour mark I had to buzz the server again because this was getting ridiculous. As I started to ask about our order she cut me off and said it would be right out. Being the patient couple that we are..plus the fact that we really wanted milkshakes and the fact that we had already paid .. We really thought that our food would come out asap. Yesterday was my husband's birthday and after dinner our friends decided they wanted ice cream so we drove through sonic . After a long wait on line it was our turn to order , Maggie was our order taker and she is very sweet . The birthday boy leaned forward and asked if the was "any specials for a birthday".. lol Maggie laughed he caught her off guard. He wanted a classic strawberry shake. I chimed in and said can you put an extra cherry on top and she said of course . When we got to the window we were told they were no longer able to make shakes and asked if my husband would like anything else , Maggie suggested that she will try to make him a strawberry blast. In the end Maggie was able to make the blast perfect her to my husband . Her random act of kindness shows that there is still good and beautiful people out there and restores my faith in humanity. I cannot tell you how quickly my view on this place recently changed. I would come here every now and then to get a burger or a shake. Usually I go to the drive thru instead of sitting in my car because I usually don't have that much time and because I'd rather eat at home. On the night I went, there was a decent line at the drive thru because the carhop service wasn't working. It took me about 5 minutes just to place my order, but then the real waiting began. We waited and waited and waited some more. There was no moving. Then one car left and we all lived up but then we waited some more. When I finally pulled up to the pick up window the guy who took my payment was very rude and made it sound like if I didn't like waiting for 25 minutes at a fast food place, I could leave. Well I decided that when I got my food I would leave and not come back because the customer does not deserve to be treated that way especially when they are the ones paying for the food. When I got my food it wasn't even the right order but I didn't honestly care. I wanted to leave because there is no real reason for anyone to have to wait nearly 35 minutes to get food at a drive thru. This was my first time coming to sonic..... and WOW was I impressed. I ordered the supersonic double cheese and it was impeccable. I was so impressed with the burger (which was perfectly cooked medium rare) that I decided I would order the Philly cheesesteak and it did not disappoint. The service was unbelievable and unparalleled as the wait time was almost nothing and they even came on roller skates. That wasn't even the best part, the view was unexplainable. The view of the route one jug handle was unmatched as the cars passing made for great entertainment. While waiting at the window, I observed a young lady scratching her head then went to serve food without washing her hands. Many of the employees had their masks under moth and nose.
