I wanted to try 418 Burgers for quite some time because of so many 5 star reviews it has. I came here with really high expectations that unfortunately were not met. I ordered the large 6 ounce mushroom & Swiss burger with fries. The actual burger was juicy and good, but the bun that accompanied it was extremely small! The burger was hanging out all over the place and ended up becoming a sloppy mess! The extremely small bun couldn't even hold the mushrooms that topped the burger! All the toppings came out when I'd bite into the burger! If they gave a larger bun for the 6 ounce burger it would of been very good. This burger was supposed to come with caramelized onions, but mine didn't have any. They barely gave you any mushrooms either. The fries were good, but not great. Sorry to say I was a bit disappointed with my burger here. I was really craving a good burger during our road trip, and 418 Burgers had really good reviews. But my burger was just so-so. Service seemed a bit slow, even for burgers being made to order. There was only one person taking orders and otherwise managing the restaurant area, with some people cooking in the back. The person up front was not super friendly or attentive. We ordered takeout, but while waiting for our order hung out in the dining area, which wasn't particularly clean. I ordered the BBQ burger, which seemed to have a lot going on, but there just wasn't much flavor and the ingredients weren't great. This was a casual burger joint that also served chicken wings and tenders. The place was very small with only 3 or so tables, but it appeared most of their orders were of the takeout variety. I ordered at the counter and the order took about 10-15 minutes to come out. I had a firehouse burger ($13), a regular order of fries ($3.95) and their 1/2 pound sauced chicken fingers ($7.55). The burger consisted of jalapenos, spicy mayo, pepperjack cheese, buffalo sauce and the option of lettuce, tomato, and onions. The beef was a blend of chuck, brisket, and short rib. There were a few issues with the burger as a whole. They asked how I wanted it cooked which was a surprise to me given the atmosphere and type of spot it was. I opted for medium rare, but it was cooked to a medium. They also used spring mix instead of shredded or iceberg lettuce, which was a little odd to me given the type of burger I ordered. Regardless, the burger was decent, good flavor from the beef and slight kicks from all of the spicy toppings. The fries were very good, extremely crispy and seasoned nicely. I opted for their sweet chili sauce to go with the chicken fingers. Unfortunately, the sauce was on the side. I thought the chicken would be tossed in the sauce like the menu said. Nonetheless, the chicken was crispy and fried ideally while the sweet chili sauce was much more on the sweeter side. Overall, it was alright. Will I go back? Possibly. read more

I could have sworn I reviewed this place before, but I reviewed a lot of places and I could have just thought I did. Overall 418 Burger is a great small burger place that is local that you should definitely consider patronizing if you are in town. If you're out of town looking for a good burger this place is worth checking out. They have a small outdoor seating area as well as pre-pandemic and indoor eating area. They're burgers are really good They taste fresh and the other fixings and options are a nice touch. The staff here has always been really nice and pleasant as well which is always a plus and I always love patronizing small businesses. Parking will likely be street parking, you could park in the stop & shop parking lot however I don't know if you're actually supposed to park in their parking lot, so park there at your own risk. All in all I don't think you can go wrong with 418 burger if you were in the mood for a good burger, bonus points if you are in walking distance to the restaurant. read more

There was no skimping on the ingredients and the mushroom was meaty. Flavors: 5 There is a nice flavor to the mushroom burger and it was done nicely. It wasn't overcooked nor was it undercooked. Sometimes, the mushroom burgers can be either overcooked so much that it's watery or undercooked so that it's tough. Mine was done just right so I really got to enjoy the flavors of the mushroom. We also ordered the onion rings and they are our new obsession. They're the best onion rings we've ever had! Something about the batter in which they fried it in makes it really flavorful. Overall, I'd order from them again. We ordered the food for pick up so it's not like we even got to eat it fresh at the restaurant. Burger was delicious. I really like the "418 sauce". The wings were not good at all. Looked like the were the out the frozen bad kinda and had little taste. I ordered the Mango Habanero sauce in the side and did not like that either. We also order the onion rings and they were pretty good. However the Onion Rings cost $7.95! Judge for yourself by the pic I've attached. Way to expensive for my liking. The fries were $3.95 and I loved them. This is after all a burger joint. Very modest two table eating area only so I'd say this is definitely your take out spot for burgers and not a cheap date night location in downtown Highland Park. I was craving a burger with a side of lobster tail (sadly that's not a thing yet anywhere) so I looked around for a burger joint not too far from me and came across 418. It seems like a chill, run of the mill burger but the reviews were really positive and strong so I feel somewhat confident about this choice but also knew that burger, while simple, are difficult to master. I ordered a large burger, cooked medium with a hard egg & spicy mayo + ketchup, with a large garlic Parmesan fries and three dipping sauces on the side--spicy mayo, spicy ketchup, and the 418 sauce. I went to pick it up and everything came in brown paper bags. Old fashioned style like 5 guys, I dig it. The fries were fairly crispy and somewhat hollow. I love delicious fries and when I eat them I'm ready to feel guilty afterwards, but these fries were fried a bit on the hard side and were very airy. The garlic Parmesan flavor was really underwhelming, I think they need to douse the fries in it especially for an up charge. Strangely the sauces on the burger were more flavorful than the sauces in the cup. I would have liked if the 418 sauce was marked since I had to tased to differentiate between the mayo. The burger wasn't bad, again just underwhelmed. I felt the flavors in general weren't pronounced enough to leave my satisfied and feel like this was a burger I would drive to eat again but I didn't hate it at the same time. It was just decent. The price is completely right though I must say, but to think the tase factor can be turned up a notch. Also there is one table out front which is nice if it's free given Covid and the dine-in restrictions. Stopped by here for dinner one night and ordered the medium firehouse burger as well as the large fries. I actually really liked the burger and the fries. So why only 3 stars? I was still really hungry after and ended up ordering another burger, this time the mushroom swiss. It was very tasty but I didn't like having to have 2 orders. I joined some friends to eat here and they have some limited seating which is nice. I will say, these burgers are a bit expensive and the fries are not included which is a bummer. Went for Dinner Food - 5/5. Burger had great char on them which added that nice "crust" texture on the meat. Vegetables were fresh and I enjoyed that that the onions were sliced paper thin. 418 Burgers is a nice fries and burger joint. We have done online ordering and the food is always ready and still fresh at pick up. Fries are quality and reheat well in the toaster oven. I find that the large burger is too big but you can only choose your cook temperature if you pick the large burger. I usually go with the regular cheesebuger with classic lettuce tomato onion. Sort of plain for decor so not really an eat in spot. My daughter loves the chicken fingers platter so good for kids. Staff is always friendly and has a smile even behind the mask. read more

Great experience at 418 burger. I went with my sister-- she ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and I ordered the cheeseburger. Most burgers come in a 4 oz vs 6oz option. I opted for the 6 oz because-- why not!! My burger was well seasoned; you could taste the ingredients were fresh, my sister's chicken burger looked delicious with the mozzarella and peppers on top. Her only complaint was because of the steam I guess, a portion of her burger was a little soggy on the bottom. She still enjoyed it though. Also, I washed my hands in the restaurant's bathroom and it was kept clean. (The soap smelled nice too). Then saw I could order online and it worked out! The workers could have just said its better to order online rather than keep a customer hanging. Four stars (really 3.5) are solely for the burgers. I got the cheeseburger (it was juicy and flavorful) and my husband got the chicken burger with cheese (also flavorful and had some greens in it). It was pricy though, considering that the fries have to be purchased on the side and don't come with the burgers. The fries were also really salty. We also tried the chicken strips (which came with fries and a sauce) and they were also pretty tasty. They gave a bunch of ketchup but any other sauces are extra. This was a great little local burger joint find. The burgers are cooked when you order. So grab a coke and relax. They have a nice and quick menu. And one gets to customize the Fries. It's located on a main street that gets plenty of traffic so I'd assume this place gets packed at night or on weekends because there's limited seating, but there was only one other table occupied the whole time we were there so seating wasn't an issue for us today. It's a very casual environment. They have a huge chalkboard on the wall with the menu written on it and they have a mounted LCD monitor that displays the info for the rock music that plays in the background. Aside from that, there's not much interior design going on. That doesn't translate to the food though! The food is EXCEPTIONAL. I asked the guy at the counter (super nice, by the way) which burger is more popular between the mushroom and BBQ burgers, and he recommended the mushroom burger so I ordered a 4oz. mushroom burger ($8.50) with onion rings ($6.75 - a bit on the pricey side, I know). SO. DAMN. DELICIOUS. The burger was so juicy and flavorful! I always decide whether or not a burger is actually good based on if it needs additional sauce to either make it less dry and/or give it more flavor, but this burger was flawless on its own! The onion rings were plain with no seasonings so they tasted okay on their own, but they were just the right amount of crunchy and the sweet mustard sauce that accompanied it definitely made it taste a million times better. One of my friends ordered a plain cheeseburger with plain fries (can you tell he's...plain? lol), and my other friend ordered a falafel burger with garlic parmesan fries. They loved their food too! I love 418. They have very high quality take out burgers, salads and sandwiches. The menu is very straightforward and simple. It's a very convenient location, one of the best spots to eat in Highland Park. Everything I have tried from here has been awesome. I usually get a burger and a salad or fries. It does take 5-10 min for them to make your food, but this is because they actually make everything to order and spend a lot of time putting their salads and burgers together. You will probably spend about $10-$16 here and it's totally worth it. Definitely paying for quality. read more

Burger was cold and raw in center. Asked for a refund on the meal. Manager argued with me about the refund, asking me how I ordered it as if I asked for it be cold and raw in the center. After looking at the burger he said he would give me a refund for the burger only - not the fries or drink. Eventually he agreed to a refund - but couldn't print me a receipt for some reason. Later found out he only refunded the burger - so $10 of the $20 meal - even though all of it was returned uneaten. As I was walking out he had some nasty words he should have kept to himself until the door was closed. I waited to write this review until I saw how the refund was going to go. These guys are scum who are going to get someone sick. Go to White Rose Burgers around the corner. They are cheaper faster safer and nicer. read more

One of the best burger spots I have been to! Burgers are large and super filling, without even getting a side of fries or anything else. I ordered the falafel burger which was more delicious than I had expected. The falafel patty is flavored perfectly and has the same consistency as a typical veggie patty. It provided the perfect base for the rest of the burger. The tzatziki sauce is delicious and probably my favorite part of the burger. It is creamy and refreshing, and adds an instant freshness to the burger. The prices are reasonable and there is plenty of seating for large and small groups alike. Staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the location is in a perfect quaint area of Highland Park. Would def be back :) read more
