Terrrrrrrrrrrrrrible location. It deserves zero stars & to be permanently closed. Spent $40 on food for my family only to not get everything we ordered. We pulled to the side & let them know. They said they would be right out with the missing items. I kid you not, we sat there for 15 minutes & watched MULTIPLE cars get there orders & leave without needing to wait. I called again only for them to not answer. I let Tina the manager know, but I know nothing will be done. Kaylan was the person who took our order & ruined it. We also had some bleach blonde chick who was delivering be so rude, I wanted to call corporate. If you can avoid this location, do it. If you're not from the area, DEFINITELY steer clear. This is the worse place for fast food. We sat at the drive in window for 10 minutes waiting on our food, all the while watching some of the employees through stuff around and dance. After we got our food, we had to return because the crispy chicken sandwich was so over done that you couldn't eat it. The employee said that it would be the same way if getting another sandwich and wasn't happening about our request. My advice is to choose another fast food place. read more

A Sonic in Montgomery County? Not quite. But it is only 20 minutes up I-270 from Gaithersburg in Frederick County! Finally! Everyone sees the commercials for Sonic and we all want one. It is very evident when this new location is packed...even at midnight! You can walk in, drive through, car-hop or even stand in line to order outside...what do you call that? A walk through? It has only been open a few weeks and we have already been here 3 times (I am seriously running out of excuses to come up here for the Walmart!). Would have been 4, but it was exactly midnight and they were putting up the cones and would not let us through. :( You can get everything here. I haven't had a burger in a while because I always opt for the foot long chili-cheese dog with mustard and onions. YUM! This last time I went with the chicken strip dinner with texas toast. Not sure I will do that again because the size of the strips were between nuggets and strips. Strippets. Whatever. They were kinda small for my liking. But it came with texas toast, tater tots and ONE onion ring. It was a good deal because for $0.20 more I could get my cherry limeade. My Sister has to have her cheddar poppers with ranch and tater tots. She honestly believes they make the best shakes here. With all the flavors to choose from, I cannot disagree with her! Ok. I love Sonic because I grew up on this stuff. To move from the Midwest to the East coast and only find a Sonic on the drive to Ocean City if you take the back roads is just not enough! I even once made a lame excuse to drive to Baltimore and invited my Sister knowing that we were going to hit Sonic on the drive back. :) Happy Hour is between 2pm and 4pm. Half price drinks and shakes. We were there the last week in June and saw a new sign advertising half price shakes after 11pm. Go ahead and get the large shake for just $2. My sister and I went to Wal-Mart and I looked over and saw that they had built a sonic. I was so excited that there is now a sonic 30 minutes from my house, which is the closest one yet! We got there around 11pm and the drive through and all the "stalls" were packed. We saw one all the way at the end and pulled in. My sister got the foot long chili cheese coney with a large diet cherry limeade and tots. I got a large Oreo Peanut butter milkshake, and Ched r' peppers. Everything was delicious and just as I remember them to taste. My Ched R Peppers came out piping out and I loved eating my sister's tots. The Oreo Peanut Butter Shake was a little weird at first but it grew on me. I should not have gotten a large because I wasn't that hungry but I froze it and ate it the next day and couldn't stop eating till it was gone. I was going to take a picture but it was so yummy I remembered to take one after it was all gone! read more

If I could get it a zero I would. So my husband and me decided to go get dessert after. So we went to the drive-through. It took them 5 minutes for someone to get to us. My husband ordered a hot fudge sundae with extra hot fudge. They over filled the cup and he could not eat it fast enough. It got all over them and the car. I ordered a mini milkshake and found hair in it. It was horrible service and the if you can't get a simple sundea right something is messed up. read more

A Sonic within a half hour (give or take...ok fine, forty minutes) of my apartment? FINALLY! We had an easy run using the drive-thru for a simple order of cherry limeades. Our only issue was with the girl at the window who as she handed us the first drink, there was spillage around the side of the cup and she didn't even offer any napkins. Um what? I mean she gave them to us once we asked but it was a bit odd that she handed it off to us like that in the first place. I mean whatever, we're obviously coming back. read more

If I could give it 0 stars I totally would! We have been to Sonic's before and they were all wonderful... the Frederick location was AWFUL! Please do not waste your time! I understand being new and not all there with it yet, but they have been open for a month now and have no excuses! We went to the front to order our food. It really wasn't that busy and we were second in line to order our food. When we ordered our food the girl was NOT listening to my order and kept rushing me through it. We waited 25 minutes for our food... wait I thought this was a fast food place? So confused by that! Once we finally got our food it was wrong! I was so mad at this point! The receipt was correct, but the food was wrong! We sent back our sandwiches, and while we waited 15 more minutes for them to fix our sandwiches I ate my burnt to a crisp onion rings. After our sandwiches were replaced they were still wrong! They had no cheese on them, or sauce! I ate a piece of chicken on bread.... I could have made that at home! After paying $19 for our fast food that took well over an hour I can honestly say we will not be going back to this location! GET IT TOGETHER PEOPLE! read more

Is there an option to give zero stars? Our order was taken in a timely manner while sitting in the bay. Our food was brought in a timely manner. However, the person who brought our food had nails so long it grossed me out. I almost asked for a return and refund. Long nails do not belong in the food service industry. Then... Part of our order was missing. Annoying! Took me 5 minutes to get someone on the bay speaker to inform them that part of our order was missing. They eventually brought the missing items. We ordered mozzarella sticks and they tasted like they were fried in old oil. Really disgusting. Everything else was mediocre at best. The whole experience was very sub par. Get it together Sonic. We could have literally chosen the other 5 fast food places within walking distance of you. We will never be back and we will continue to let everyone know of our experience today. read more

I visited the Frederick Sonic for the first time this AM, and was hoping to be able to give them a 5-star review. I usually love Sonic, and particularly their breakfast foods, based upon my prior experience over the past 14 years with Sonic franchises located in the Midwest and in Texas. I first discovered the Sonic chain while I was in Kansas City on business around 2003, and, while searching for a restaurant where I could get a decent breakfast sandwich, I stumbled upon Sonic and fell in love with the Sonic chain from that point onward. My experience on subsequent visits to Sonic franchises located elsewhere in the Midwest, in western Florida, and in Texas, only solidified my view about Sonic being a great and reliable source of good breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos. Having only experienced the joy of eating breakfasts made by Sonic while traveling in the Midwest, Florida and Texas, I had always kinda hoped that Sonic might eventually open a franchise in Frederick, and was overjoyed when I learned recently that a Sonic franchise had opened in front of the Walmart on Guilford Drive in Frederick! So, I got in the car and drove 9 miles and 15 minutes this morning (I live way up in the mountains, well outside the city, so it is a longish drive...) to the new Frederick Sonic, intending to purchase two of their breakfast sandwiches (with sausage patties), one for eating as soon as I got home, and the other for tomorrow's breakfast, along with two of their quarter-pounder bacon cheeseburgers (I had never before eaten their burgers, and I wanted a couple to throw in the fridge so that I could eat them over the next day or two). I used the drive-through lane, and when I ordered the burgers, I specifically asked them to skip the fried breaded onion rings, and to instead substitute grilled onions instead. The woman taking my order cheerfully agreed that this was totally doable, and advised me that I would be charged an extra 30 cents for the change, and also advised me that I could expect to wait a bit for my burgers, as they would need to be custom-made due to my request for grilled onions instead of fried breaded onion rings. When I was finished ordering, she read my order back to me, and even included an explicit mention of the fact that the burgers were to have no breaded onion rings, and instead would be made with grilled onions. When I pulled up to the order pick-up window, the young woman at the window again accurately recited all the details of my order, and told me that it would be ready in 5 to 10 minutes, as it needed to be custom-made. She also asked if I wanted some ketchup packets with my burgers, and, since I do not keep ketchup at home, I asked for four packets of ketchup, and she agreeed to put them in my bag. About 10 minutes after I had pulled up to the pick-up window, my order was ready, and the young woman at the window handed me the two bags containing my order, and again accurately recited the entire contents of the order, including the "no onion rings, grilled onions instead" (as paid for) and told me that there were four ketchup packets, as requested, in the bag containing the burgers. I looked at my receipt before pulling away in my car, and was pleased to note that it accurately reported "no onion rings, add grilled onions" and also noted the fact that I'd been charged an extra $0.30 for the onion upgrade. Having been lulled into a false sense of security by the seemingly-precise/competent service so far, I resisted the urge to open each bag and open each sandwich to check the accuracy of the order fulfillment before driwing away from the window to head for my home in the mountains. When I reached home and got my order onto the kitchen counter, I opened one of the sausage breakfast sandwich wrappers so that I could eat it, and, for the heck of it, I opened the bag containing the two special-order quarter-pounder Bacon Cheeseburgers just to see what Sonic's burgers looked like. Well, I was surprised when I opened the bag containing the burgers, because not only did it NOT contain any of the requested (and promised) packets of ketchup (yes, I checked the other bag to be sure, but no ketchup packets anywhere...!) but each of the burgers bore NO trace of the requested grilled onions, and instead each burger bore a breaded onion ring! Stunned, I re-checked my Sonic receipt, but it still clearly stated "no onion rings, add grilled onions" and also reflected the fact that I'd been charged an extra $0.30 for an onion upgrade! I later noticed that the receipt stated at the bottom that I could visit www.talksonic.com to leave feedback about my order. I tried to visit the site, only to receive a message that the domain was now inactive, and that it was for sale for $10k! BIZARRE! Bottom line: Lousy order fulfillment; way too long a drive to return the burgers to get them done right. First time I have EVER had a problem with a Sonic in the US. Well, this review will not actually discuss any food or beverage items since we never received ours...after 30+ minutes...and 2 button pushes... The only reason I was persistent was because of the confused 4 year old in the back seat who could not figure out why everyone around us got drinks but we didn't. So good job Sonic. For some reason every time I come to the drive thru and order a RASPBERRY lemonade slush they hear "blue raspberry lemonade slush" I don't know if they've changed the menu and no longer have the straight up rasperry lemonade flavor but it irks me every time they just give me a blue raspberry slush. Even after I've corrected them. Service isn't outstanding. Not awful but not very friendly. Can't comment on the food because I've never had anything other than a hamburger maybe a handful of times. Finally was able to get out for a meal with family & WAS HIGHLY disappointed in the food quality. The 1st attempt at bringing us our order was incorrect, it was 1/2 of our drinks & 1/2someone wakes as well as someone else's food. When we finally got our correct order the fries & onion rings were barely warm. Our order was almost $50 and compared to what it usually is like..this wasnt worth it. The onion rings were horrid. Some were 1/2way battered, thin, stringy and the batter was so hard I thght I was going to break a tooth on some..others it just crumbled right off.. definitely not the Sonic standard we are used to. One burger was not as ordered but I'm not 1 to send food back so ate it anyway..it was good just not what I ordered. Then the kids wanted ice cream so we thought we'd try a quick trip thru the drive thru..haha..not so much...when we finally got our order..we were missing items. Worst experience ever. Stopped for lunch today, sat in drive-thru 30+ minutes. Other cars behind us got their orders before us or left w/o their order. Finally got order and it was terribly wrong. Ordered 2 cheeseburger combos, one w/o onions and one w/o lettuce. Received one with onions and the other was a chicken sandwich! Also the mozzarella sticks gushed liquid, one had no mozzarella. I love Sonic! Just not this one. My husband and I stopped by to grab two Sonic Blasts. I got an Oreo one and he got a cookie dough. The service was quick, but the ice cream was a disappointment. At like my sixth bite of ice cream, I tasted a chemical powder. It started to burn my tongue and the roof of my mouth. I was driving home and had to pull over and rinse my mouth out with water. I'm not sure if they use a powder mixture, and it wasn't completely mixed or if someone accidentally mixed in something else. Either way, not a fan. With all the other bad reviews added to my experience... just skip this place. read more

We will not be going back after our third awful experience. Our first bad experience was waiting half an hour for a hot dog. I ended up having to leave because I had somewhere to be. The second experience. We waited almost half an hour for our food. We asked for a refund and then our food showed up. There is no reason fast food should take that long during a non busy time. Today was our absolute final visit. All of our ice cream was melted in our blasts. Every one of them was a milky mess. They said their ice cream looks like that and asked if we wanted something else. I asked for a refund and they weren't even apologetic. Multiple people were sending their food back. This is so awful, please don't go here. read more

Terribly disappointed. I was excited to see a Sonic come to the Frederick area. However, my first visit was not a good experience. My cheeseburger that was to only have lettuce, tomato and may was loaded. My my diet Dr Pepper was not diet. My no salt fries were cold, so I walked up to the window and asked for hot no salt fries, they were hot, but very salty. When a customer has dietary restrictions, you appreciate a restaurant that can accommodate those needs. There are too many restaurants out there to settle for this low level of customer service. I enjoy Sonic, but I will not return anytime soon. Please step up your game and improve your service. read more

Not the greatest Sonic (and I'm from Sonic territory, Texas). The first visit was accidentally on opening day and we had a blast with the gentleman directing traffic. He was a hoot! However, the staff was not fully trained and there were preparation errors. The second visit was almost pitiful, as the person on the speaker didn't know the menu as well as I did. I'm serious when I say that I repeated "grape slush" 6 times. The last visit (last week) was much better and I think the staff is getting in a groove. Although my two grown children were disappointed (I'm kidding!) that there was no bag of pot in their food, like a previous customer, the headline provided us with a few laughs during our meal on the patio. read more

Asked for a chicken sandwich w/o specific items and extra mayo, there was no mayo at all and sandwich had all the items I didn't want on it, sweet tea needed sugar to live up to its name, coke was flat. Went here last night and the girl who brought our food had her mask UNDER HER CHIN. It's very unnerving that someone who is potentially handling my food doesn't care about wearing their mask correctly to reduce risk not only to customers but also to their coworkers. I want to start my review by saying that I'm incredibly happy that there is a Sonic in my area. Sonic has a great menu and in general the food is very good. HOWEVER, this particular location is incredibly slow. We intentionally waited for the initial rush to subside before we visited. Visit #1-Ordered two shakes and two burgers from one of the drive in bays. It took 15 minutes for someone to answer us after we hit the "ready to order" button and another 20 minutes for our oder to come out. The order didn't include out tater tots, so we have to wait another 10 min for that to come out. 45min is not fast food Visit #2-Visit number 1 was on a Friday night and it was mildly busy compared to the opening weeks crowds. So to give Sonic another chance, we went on a Sunday afteroon. We also went through the drive through. This time we placed our order quickly but we waited in line 20min to recieve our food. I order a crispy tender dinner. First of all, the chicken is most certainly not crispy. It's soggy and falling apart. The tater tots are soggy and have zero seasoning and the toast is basically just bread. Will NEVER be coming back here again. And also work on your customer service. read more

This was by far my worst experience at a Sonic. I waited about 30 minutes for a mobile order that would usually be ready in 5-10. Once I called the store twice and finally got my order I was greeted by the rudest person who gave me attitude until I left. Their excuse was that it was their second day, which I don't think excuses disrespect. When I got my slushy, it was extremely melted and liquidy, probably because of how long they waited before deciding to bring it out. And lastly, The burger I ordered comes with meat, cheese, ketchup, mustard, and pickles. For some reason there is lettuce all over my burger, and I never asked for it. When I decided to try the burger despite the lettuce they put on then tried to scrape off, the meat was burnt and tasted horrible. This Sonic location ruined my love for Sonic. Now I don't ever want to drive into a Sonic location anymore. Let me start off by saying that the other Sonic location I went to was the best. Food was great and workers were diligent, but this place was horrible. Right when I went to order at the intercom, I checked into Yelp and saw the bad reviews. I thought that it was strange, but right when we pushed the button and waited for a worker to answer our call, I started to think that it was going to be bad. She took forever to pick up and once she did she was soooo slow at taking our order. She would repeat everything we said like three times before she put the order down. When we finally got our food, it was gross. The corn dog was cold in the middle and not fully heated up..... The blue coconut drink that I ordered before was not the same. The food was salty. Everything was just bad. My friend even threw away most of his food because he thought it was so awful. I would have rather bought a hot dog from 7-11 and been so much more happier. So I went to sonic this evening. The family had a craving for some slushes and milkshakes.so I drive 20 minutes to your establishment. When I arrived there where to cars parked in the drive through stall so I pull up to number three and I proceed to order 2 shakes and a slush. Ok fine and dandy right well 45 minutes later a young lady comes out with a receipt asking if this is my order I processed to tell the young lady yes it was my order she then goes back in the store takes another 10 mins to bring me my order why did I want an hour for 3 drinks very poor service employees where just walking around. I never in all my years working fast food would have put up with so much messing around your there to do a job u need to do it should have never taken an hour when others who order food where coming and going very disappointed read more

I have been three times in the last two weeks. I am originally from Tennessee where Sonics are everywhere and the service is fast and efficient. All three visits to this Sonic were terrible. They don't listen to your order. They get it wrong. To top it off they then tell you they don't have an ingredient to make your order after all the hassle of sending the wrong order back. This for a simple hot dog New York style. So I go again today with my daughter who is pregnant. She wanted a lemonade and I a diet limeade because I am diabetic. Again they got a simple order wrong twice. Unbelievable. They are horribly managed and poorly staffed. read more
