That was my reaction when we were heading home on Buckeystown Pike and I glanced up to see the shining beacon called Sonic on my left. I don't know what the people of Frederick have done to deserve a delicious Sonic but I am forever thankful. The drive-thru line on Friday night wrapped around the parking lot. I timed the wait on my phone and it was almost 27 minutes from the moment we got in line until we got our food. Best 27 minutes I ever spent. We even got a perfect view of the fireworks at the Keys game. My cheeseburger was just the right size for dinner, even if it was a bit cold. I didn't care because I came for the tots. This place is awfully slow. We've been here enough times that I can confidently, but with the greatest regret, give it only one star. The food takes forever. It has always got something wrong with it and each time at least one persons food was cold. It's such a bummer. We want to love you sonic but your hurting my heart! My husband and I decided to go hiking and that he would take me to Sonic afterwards since I have never been. First, I the young lady taking our order was not fully paying attention to us, she would stop talking and then apologize and take the order. She apologized so I was fine. We were watching the screen on the status of our order and then it disappears. We waited a total of 30 min for our food. After hiking 8 miles we were starving, so my husband decided to go in to ask what is taking so long. The manager immediately brought it out to us, we bit into it, it was cold. Do me a favor. Next time to you go to Sonic in Frederick, just TRY to order a #2 double cheeseburger with NO CHEESE. Just for laughs. Say it three to five different ways and double check that they heard you correctly. 95% of the time, they get this wrong. I know it doesn't help that my kid LOVES Sonic double burgers PLAIN with nothing but ketchup. I get that is a weird order. It's just bun, meat and ketchup and I OFTEN tell them that I understand that it is a weird order. Nothing helps. I emailed corporate. NOTHING HELPS. My husband and I ordered an American hotdog combo with tater tots as well as popcorn chicken with tater tots, a cherry limeade and diet Dr. Pepper. The hotdog was just ok and barely warm, the popcorn nuggets were so hard they could not be chewed and the tater tots were loaded with grease and barely warm. The Dr. Pepper didn't taste right and neither did the cherry limeade. Will not be returning to this Sonic. We should have not proceeded with eating there when we drove up at 6:45pm and the drive up lot was completely closed and the lights were all out everywhere. Stopped at Sonic this weekend while running errands, just wanted a drink with extra ice ... because honestly who doesn't like Sonic ice?! Ordered an unsweet ice tea with extra ice. When the young woman brought the drink out I asked for some extra ice (the cup wasn't even halfway full & that's what I had initially requested) to which she responded "yup, for 53 cents". I was taken aback by this and told her I had initially asked for more ice than drink (seems to be a fair trade off from a financial stand point). She begrudgingly went back in and got a cup of ice, brought it to the car and very sarcastically said "here's your extra ice, it's on the house". This sonic, specifically, was a big disappointment. Me and my friend decided we wanted some sonic because we love sonic. We get there an the bays were not open understandable because there was still a little bit of snow on the ground. Me and my friend order the chicken sandwich and first off it was the size of a McChicken and cost like 3x as much as a McChicken. Next our drinks were flat because there was something wrong with there machine that they did not tell us before we bought them. Lastly, we try to get milkshakes but there machine is down. My husband and I travel for work, we are usually hours from home, and we are always excited when we go through Frederick because we get to have Sonic. We live in Virginia and there is no Sonic near us. Sonic not only gives us a good place to rest from driving while we eat at the drive-in, but the Frederick location has always had exceptional service and the food is always hot! We just pulled away from the restaurant, after having our dinner at 10:34 pm, and customer service was exceptional. Even late at night the employee that served us had a positive attitude. This place has gone down hill since it opened. We no longer get food here because of how bad it has become. We only go there now for drinks. However, they can't even get those right. This past visit we asked for two large grape cream slushes and a small cherry slush. First it took 15 mins once we came to the drive thru window for 3 drinks. Second, they had the sizes wrong. Third, there was barely any grape flavor or slush in the large grape cream slushes. Finally, they forgot to give us the cherry slush. Bad food, wrong orders, and bad service. Stopped at Sonic for lunch and placed an order at a drive in spot. Several minutes later, two additional cars pulled in next to us, and they placed their orders. Within 10 minutes both of those car got their orders. I called over one of the carhops and explained the problem... no food delivered but paid for. This location is terrible...well, maybe Sonic is just terrible. Idk. I've been here twice and experienced extremely long wait times and poor quality food. The first time the popcorn chicken was overcooked, the fries were cold and the girl never brought my sauce. The second time I ordered the same thing and it was the same issue, however I mentioned the issue to the server and he had a new order made for me. It took a very long time to get our food once the order was finally taking and the guy that took the order Colin was apparently having a bad day and was not shy about letting his feelings known. Oh wow. They have really gone downhill. We ordered in the app, 2 sonic double bacon cheeseburgers one with tator tots, one with an onion ring. Both burgers came without bacon, we sent them back and asked for the bacon-this resulted in two sad, burnt pieces of bacon. I took my bacon off. My husband asked for his burger without ketchup or mustard and only lettuce, pickles and onion only no sauce. It came out wrong the first time with ketchup and mustard and no bacon. They remade it and transferred the original patties with mustard still on them to a new bun and still added ketchup and forgot the bacon. So he sent it back for the third time and it was corrected but the bacon was also burnt like mine. The onion rings that I ordered came out in one, lump of an onion ring. They were also very chewy. I figured I'd write this review while I'm here... ive been to this sonic a few times before... the first time they messed up our order, now I actually ordered at 2:45, im still waiting for my food at 3:50.... sitting here currently.... I pressed the call button to check on my order once at the 45 min mark and pressed it again 5 mins ago to see if anybody would be able to give me a time on my order but they wouldn't even pick up... yeah.... not good... This is my first time going to Sonic, and I thought it was pretty okay. It has a pretty cool drive in aspect. I heard ocean water and cherry limeade were good, so I gave it a shot, but i thought it tasted like normal sprite with a hint of coconut (for ocean water) and cherry (for cherry limeade). It didn't taste that much different from each other. What I did enjoy was my friend's coconut cream milkshake and the chili cheese tater tots! Those were pretty enjoyable to have and they actually had some flavor. I think next time I come, I will definitely try more of their milkshakes over their other carbonated drinks. read more

The customer service and wait times at this location are incredibly too long. If you don't use drive-thru then don't plan on getting your food for 30-40 minutes.
