I ordered simple meal: One order of the groovy fries and one chicken tender wrap and it took the restaurant over 25 minutes to make the order. I was picking up rather than using the mobile car-hop. The app directed me to go inside and let the employee know my name for the pickup, the store doesn't have an inside, and doors have stickers stating Employees Only. So I waited outside for an employee to come out to ask what I should do because I clearly cannot follow what the app wanted. When I told the employee I was checking in, they were so annoyed, stating they were trying to get orders out. Food appears to look good, but it is actually awful, greasey, over cook and will give you diarrhea for several days. So the advertisement on TV in the pictures at the Sonic drive-thru is very deceiving. Is your best interest to never eat there. Like other fast foods these days the quality is not there like it was 30 years ago or even10 or 20 years ago. Even McDonald's and Burger King has gone downhill and the quality and the thickness of their burgers. I swear the only time I go to this place is because of my five-year-old who loves the French toast. Nothing is convenient about this place. There's slow and still don't even accept google Apple Pay or any thing like that. there's nothing that keeps you wanting to come back. OK I take that back maybe the tater tot's. But at night time you can't even see that there's a sonic in the parking lot at the lights to the Walmart go out and sonic seems not to have any lights also. Something happened since the last time I reviewed this location. I ordered a cheeseburger through the app that clearly said hold the lettuce (always soggy, browned, wilted) and mayonnaise, but add mustard. Reading is fundamental, how hard can it be for someone with at least two years of high school? First, only the drive through was open, drive in stalls were blocked off. The burger I got was lukewarm with lettuce and smothered in ketchup. When I got the new burger the temperature wasn't much warmer, but at least they didn't add lettuce but it was still smothered in ketchup. This was my first time visiting Sonic as I'd heard a lot about it but we don't have one super close to one in our area. So my girlfriend and I decided to check it out as she'd been before but it was my first time. She loves the warm pretzel twists they have and I am also a fan now. We also got Burger meal combos with tater tots and Sonic blasts. I got a footlong coney hot dog as well. The service was good as our food didn't take long once we place the order. This is a very casual place that offers a wide variety of menu items for decent prices. If you're looking for just standard American menu items this place might be up your alley. This is in line with other fast food places so you have to set your expectations as such. All in all not a bad visit but I don't think it's worth going out of your way for. This is literally an "if you're in the area type of place stop by" but we live like 25 minutes away. Still glad I came to try it though! read more

I decided to try this place even though I saw the bad reviews. They were mostly about it taking a long time and we were ordering ahead using the app. How bad could that be? Bad. We still waited 15 minutes for our food. The chicken tenders were stone cold. The iced tea was so syrupy it made McDonalds sweet tea taste unsweetened. The chicken sandwich was half unwrapped. I don't get out to Frederick County too often but when I do I always stop by Sonic to indulge in some in-car fast food. I noticed today they've added digital screens so you can verify your order before they bring it out to you. This is really helpful because a lot of times they have messed up my order. Today I ordered about 12 items and the entire order was correct. It was my first time ordering the fries as I usually get tater tots and boy did I make a mistake. The fries were cold and stale and tasted like they were made hours ago. Their signature item is the Sonic Blast which is consistently good and today was no different. Their menu advertised a new chicken sandwich that is back on the menu and after ordering it I now know why they took it off in the first place. It was dry and flavorless and just a very strange texture. I also got the foot-long chili dog which is always a good decision as well as the mozzarella sticks. The food came out fast and the attendant was very accommodating since I couldn't get the order paid for through the self-service board. Decided to stop by for dessert. Among the only customers at almost six pm, service was fast and friendly. Boyfriend got ice cream, I got a cherry limeade. My quick drive through meal hit the spot! We were in Frederick doing some groceries on a Saturday evening and I craved for some hotdog and tots. We drove through in the rain and they were pretty quick and efficient. I had the chili cheesedog footlong with tots and a soda and my husband had the jumbo chicken strips. I honestly have never had better chicken tenders from a fast food place (or whatever category this chain lands in). The wait here is SOOOOOOOO long, I think I waited for over 30 minutes for my food. Cars that arrived in the carhops after I had order my food, got their full order and drove away before I decided to go to the window and ask. (am not very familiar with sonic's practices, so legitimately don't know how long this wait was supposed to be). Went to the window and the waitress said the mozzarella sticks were to blame, but they were pretty solid inside, not gooey like "fresh" mozzarella sticks. So I'm not sure about that. First and last time! It's been a while since I wanted to try it out. There isn't any Sonic drive-in where I live and the closest is 22 miles away. That absence made it more enticing (perhaps). What a disappointment. I have never tasted food so bland. Even the food at McDonalds tastes better, and that is a very low bar. The worst are the fries. The hot dogs were bad, as well as the burgers. Only the boneless chicken wings were OK, but not that special either. They also left a few items off the order. The staff at this location are very inattentive. Never again. One off the bucket list. I visit this Sonic about every two weeks as it's my son's favorite food. My order is always the same: Medium #2, plain, no cheese, fries and a coke. I would estimate they get this order wrong 95% of the time. I used to order it with ketchup but felt it just confused things so simplified my order. I sometimes even say: "It is literally two patties of meat and a bun." They still insist on adding cheese. Once, I got it with no cheese but one patty. That was novel. I once asked a manager how I could make it clearer and he had no answers for me. I generally am good humored about this but it's starting to wear on me. Not ONCE have I been issued any kind of sincere apology or coupon or freebie of any kind, although I'd just prefer they get the order correct. I have now stopped leaving the line until I check the burger and as said above, 95% of the time have to knock on the window and ask for no cheese. They are always surprised! It happened again today and despite me saying "No cheese. Listen carefully. Meat and bun." the worker repeated "no cheese?" when I had said as much as I handed him the burger. I like sonic for its drive in style ordering and paying at your kiosk. But this location is awful. It's gotten to the point that I'm just not coming back. After many and I mean many times of incorrect orders today takes it. After waiting over 30 mins I inquire about my order. Told they're backed up it is running slow. I start to realize people who ordered way after me getting their orders. So I inquire again and am given the same run around. This time I ask for a manger as how is it running slow yet people who ordered more than 30 minuets after me are getting their orders. Well they never made my order someone must have cleared it as made even though I already paid. By the time we did get our food we are more than an hour of waiting. HERES THE KICKER. This is the second time this happened to me now. Where they just never made my food then give me a run around. Reading other reviews it seems others have had the same issue. Another thing of note is that again I see reviews pointing out which I'm kinda glad seeing it wasn't just me who felt this. Some of these younger girls that are running the food have an attitude/ borderline racist quality to them. It's a drive in so you can see the interactions with other cars. Let me say I answer with hi/thank you so much and am given this snotty attitude of take your food and f- off vibe and left feeling like what did I do? Then you see the same girl goto a car that matches her skin tone and it's the service I'd expect. Truthfully just be like me. I'm over it. The Frederick Sonic is the WORST Sonic location my family has ever been to. Whenever we drive through Frederick we consider going to the Sonic there but it has been a disappointment so many times that we generally avoid it. We have been there multiple times and they do a horrible job every time. I guess we keep going back because we hope that Corporate has stepped in to solve the problems. First I will address yesterday's visit and then I will address our past visits. I was driving through Frederick yesterday and a strawberry slush sounded so good. So I decided to brave the Sonic and hoped they had gotten their act together since previous visits. The drive-thru line wound around the building into the parking lot so I decided not to use the drive-thru. I pulled into a spot and used my app to order so that I knew I was putting my order in as I wanted it. I submitted my order and waited probably 15-20 minutes before getting worried about my order. My order had disappeared from the screen so I pressed the red button. It was probably 10 minutes before the button was answered with an angry "HOLD ON!" I was pretty upset at that point. 5 minutes later someone said "what can I get you?" I told them I was waiting for my mobile order. He went to figure out where the order was. 5 minutes later someone said "What can I get you?" I said "I have a mobile order that I'm waiting for. I've already paid for it." He said "Was it just a pretzel?" I said no and listed my order. He said he'd figure it out. 10 minutes later a waitress with VERY long nails (I don't mind long nails in general, but not on a waitress who handles food.) brought me my food. I checked my order right away and found that I was missing my cheese dip. I told her as she was walking away and she actually tried to check my bag as if I wasn't telling the truth about a missing cheese dip. I did not allow her to stick her face in my bag of food and insisted she bring me the cheese dip. Probably 5 minutes later she came back with some and I left as quickly as I could. In the past we have waited just as long if not longer for our orders. Our orders are consistently wrong, missing items and missing napkins, straws and utensils. The drive thru line takes FOREVER to get through. They're consistently short on inventory like cups and lids. We have also come to this location at opening time to be told that their manager never showed up and they weren't opening until the manager came in. They had no idea when that would be and if they would even open that day. This location also doesn't open until 9:30 am which I think is ridiculous since they serve breakfast. read more
