Sonic Drive-Im famous for their burgers, lets see how they do with breakfast. First time getting breakfast here. Ordered the brioche breakfast sandwich, tatter-tots and orange juice. Brioche breakfast sandwich consisted of a soft warm brioche bun that was really good. It was filled with eggs, a lot of egg, cheese, and bacon, bacon, bacon. Did i mention the bacon? This sandwich had a well served layer of eggs and bacon with just enough cheese to not overpower the other two. Only downside is that i would have preferred crispy bacon. But overall it was really good and the portion is enough to really fill you up. Tatter-tots were the star of my breakfast. They were freshly made and cooked to perfection. They were golden brown and crispy. They were crunchy to the bit and hot and delicious on the inside, yummy. Orange juice, I have remember to pass on the orange juice next time. I really love the ice cream desserts here and the food is good too. However, the service is so slow, no matter what time of day, whether you drive thru or pull up and have it brought to your car. I would even be ok with the wait but today I ordered the large peanut butter/ Oreo milkshake..... only to find that about 1/3 of the cup was full of straight peanut butter. See the arched pictures. Where my thumb is to the bottom is all peanut butter. I may as well have ordered a jar of Skippy with some ice cream on top. I went here for my first time 2 days ago. I've been to the ones in the south many times with no issues. But at this location, the girl that took my order cut out and basically stop taking my order.When I asked a question.So then it had to basically go get out of my car and go to the booth that's at the table outside the doors. When they finally took my order there.I got the same rude girl who screwed up my order so bad that I had to send the bus boy back in three times to get it fixed. Went to go shopping at the outlets last Sunday and decided to stop at Sonic since the only other location in the Bay Area is in Hayward. Not sure why people have had such long waits, maybe they all come near closing time. We were there around 5:00 pm and although most of the parking spots were full and there was a short line in the drive thru, our order was brought out in about 5 minutes. I did order from the App, so maybe that makes it faster. I think they do cut off the app orders at a certain time though. If you order on the app drinks are half price all day and there's usually a food item specially priced. We got the chili cheese coney for $1.99. The hot dog was huge, definitely a footlong. Also ordered a strawberry fruit slush, 2 burgers, 2 sausage burritos and 3 kids meals with grilled cheese, chicken tenders, and a corn dog. They gave us 3 different toys. Our order was complete except for the extra sauces I ordered on the side. If you're looking for some fried greasy hangover food or if you just want to splurge on burgers and shakes, Sonic is the place to go! How can you go wrong with tater tots and onion rings?! read more

Pulled up at 10:20am and the person stated that they were closed and won't open for another two hours. They are open for breakfast though & there are no signs stating they were closed. The drinks and service are always good at this location. During my most recent visit, got an instant response when I hit the red button at the stall to order. After paying at the kiosk, it took just a few minutes for our drinks to be served at our vehicle. And when I asked for extra napkins, the employee came back less than a minute later, all smiles, with exactly what we needed. I usually only get drinks at Sonic (not food), and the Gilroy location is always consistent and dependable, unique beverages with outstanding flavor, without the high costs. read more

This Sonic location is located in the McCarthy Business Park. It is a quieter plaza, but all the stalls to order were taken when I went because some people stayed in the stalls to eat. The food took awhile, which sucked, since I was pretty cold waiting outside. I ordered the chicken sandwich and a side of tots. The food overall tasted just okay - it tasted like any other chicken sandwich to be honest. The tots were okay as well - nothing special. I am not a Sonic food guy. All their food is substandard... except Mozzarella Sticks. Decided to succumb to commercials and ordered a Toaster. Well I was pleasantly surprised with the burger. Sure it was cold and dry requiring ketchup, but it was Ok and somewhat matched the picture. I could not order last time I went and tried to use the terminals. The time before the service took forever which is not ideal for a stop on a road trip. The food is kitschy Americanprocessed goodness, and it is awesome to be able to sit and eat in your car where you choose the ambience. Could gain a star or two if they can hire more staff. read more

Decided to check out Sonic since I had never been to one before. The idea sounds great. They have these parking stalls with menu that you can order at and sit and eat at in your parked car. Great idea. It didn't go very well for the following reasons: 1- The kiosk LCD didn't work, the credit card reader didn't work and the two way ordering intercom wasn't clear 2- The lady that took our order was not very polite. She didn't seem too happy to be working there. She took our order wrong despite our effort to be clear and concise. The receipt was right. We didn't want to wait and complain. 3- The food delivery was supposed to have these trays that install on your car that you eat from. They had the tray but didn't give it to us. They basically handed the food in brown bags to us. 4- The service was very slow. Better to go through drive through and not use the park & order stalls at all. Overall the food tasted good. The order was wrong. The experience was not that good. We're less likely to go back. read more

I wish there was more than one sonic around the area. It shouldnt take 45 minutes to get a couple drinks. They NEED to hire more people and people who give a crap about their job and move with a purpose. There was 4 people in front of me in the drive through. They were out of a lot of food products so we just ordered limeaids. We ordered cherry limeaid, strawberry limeaid and ocean water slush with nerds. We pay 60 cents extra for the nerds. We were in the drivethrough for 45 minutes. When we get to the window it was at least 10 minutes sitting there waiting for our drinks. We saw a few people in the store. One guy was sweeping inside. He finally came over and asked if we had just drinks. I said yes. All of the drinks were sitting there on the counter already prepared. So why not give people their drinks instead of letting them sit there for 20 minutes on the counter? Years ago if our order was ready and the person at the windows order wasnt ready. I don't have any Sonic locations nearby so I decided to stop off in Gilroy because it was on the way for a roadtrip down to the central valley. This place is next to a gas station and really busy inside. Both the drive thru and the stalls were busy with people wanting to get away for the weekend. It was about 20 mins to get through from the beginning of the line to about when I got my food. I'm a fan of the cheeseburgers (when I am in an area which has Sonics!) so I got three of them with extra onions. I also got a crispy chicken sandwich to see if it compared to the other major players in the business. Theirs doesn't stand a chance so don't bother and stick with what they're good at, burgers. I also got an unsweetened iced tea. No problems with my order, the items were all correct. The biggest issue is the pace in which things moved. This isn't fast food at all if you have to wait that long and idle your car. They can most definitely improve on that and include napkins. The most basic needs weren't really met which is why I not rating them higher. Other reviewers have mentioned management issues and I definitely agree that the owner/franchise should take a closer look at the daily operations of this location. That would greatly improve things and probably bring them even more business. read more

We have been here twice in about six months. I usually don't write bad reviews often because I know everybody can have a one off. But this is two for two. First time we sat in a stall forever. Never got a response went through the drive-through. They told us to park took about 30 minutes and nothing so i had to walk up to the door and ask where our food was. It was nowhere to be found. They had to remake it. Today we ordered at the stall after 30 minutes someone walked to our car and asked if we got any of our food order. I said no. 15 minutes later after nothing, I pushed the button again and they couldn't figure out what happened. Then they told me they gave my order to someone else. This will be the second time trying their food. I had to drive down from San Jose. I wanted to try their queso smasher but accidentally ordered the regular double smasher burger combo with onion rings and a large ocean water drink. The burger was good and tasted like a Big Mac minus the lettuce. It could have more onions, but the pickles were thicker and better than the thin ones you'd find anywhere else. The Ocean Water drink is really good which is like Sprite with coconut flavoring. The only thing I didn't like was how the onion rings were sweet and tasted like vanilla ice cream. First time at sonic! The bf and I wanted to eat out today, safely during quarantine of course, so we decided to opt for a drive-in lunch date. We both got a sonic cheese burger, chicken nuggets (which were 99 cents with the app!) and a large shake to share. I loved that the burger was massive and that there were pickles in every bite! They didn't skimp on their toppings and I loved that. I did find the patty and the bun to be on the drier side, but everything else about the burger was solid. The shake was just like any other standard shake, but it came in a huge cup! The portion was huge so definitely sizing down next time. We ordered through the app, got a stall easily when we rolled in, and they delivered it through the car window! The service was quick and the server was very sweet. We drive about 45 minutes to tractor supply in this shopping center regularly for our animals and we have given this place a shot at least 10 times now and end up regretting it pretty much every time. I think I've had one good experience where everything went smoothly. we just ordered and they were slow, forgot things in our order and didn't give napkins which I figured would be standard. They have forgotten things every time we order, excluding the one experience I mentioned above. We have gotten bad and slow service several times. They often tell us they don't have things that we want to order. One time they told us they couldn't give us water. They seem to almost always have someone new training because I'm sure they have bad turn around with their employees, so every time we're here ordering its borderline painful because it's so slow and difficult. I don't know how or why some people are giving them 4/5 stars. It really makes me think it's their employees or people that are paid to make them look not as bad. This is the last time I'll be here. Seems like this place has lost its way completely. You place an order on the app, arrive at the restaurant, go to a stall (as that's the only pickup option.) But the app won't let you check in, it's been that way for months. So fine, you push the speaker button, except that you unfortunately you picked one of the stalls where the equipment doesn't work. So you walk over to the next available stall and no one answers, no one answers...no one answers...no one answers. Now you have to get in the stupid drive-thru line, which you were trying to avoid in the first place. And by the time you actually get through the speaker and up to the window, your food is cold. omg I'm giving a star only because the person helping us was incredibly apologetic about everthing that I'm about to describe lol - we have seen the commercials for Sonic, but there isn't one near our home - but there was one in Gilroy on our was home from SoCal - so we thought we'd forego In-n-out (traitors!) and try Sonic - with it's fun choices for desserts and drinks and quite a few choices for food - so instead of the drivethrough we went for the parking and ordering option because who else has this? Well the screens were all blank... we checked other stalls - nothing - so after 4 or 5 minutes we were about to leave and a voice came over the intercom for our order - so we ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, a double cheeseburger, a single cheeseburger, tater tots, and the blast with snickers bits - and tried to pay through the card reader - but no directions on the way the card should go in - we tried both ways and then waited...and waited - after about 10 minutes, after seeing the drive through almost catch up to where we would have entered it, I got out and chased down a waitress bringing out someone elses food and said we don't know if the credit card went through and we were hoping the food order was being made - she aid she would check. Another 10 minutes go by, and a really nice young man brought out our food and said that the credit card didn't get read- so he had to take the card inside to charge us - he also apologized for the lack of tater tots, and gave us fries.I cannot praise him highly enough - he apologized for screen, the card reader, the fries, and our experience - he seemed almost embarrassed for Sonic. So we don't eat at the stall because we've already been parked for llike 25 minutes and we have another 60 miles to drive - pulling out, we find that the fries are COLD, the burgers are tasteless, and the chicken sandwich was acceptable - the highlight! lol. the Blast soft serve ice cream was good but the snickers bits seemed like they chopped up snickers, used the slices elsewhere, and put the crumbs at the bottom of the container into the ice cream - ruining it where it touched it - thankfully they only put the crumbs at the bottom and the top - the middle was good lol. Suffice it to say, it was a total disappointment and we will never ever return to Sonic. Simply disgusting food with an incredibly long wait. I love Dutch bros & sonic recharger drinks but unfortunately the closest Dutch to me is a 50 minute drive & the closest sonic is 30. So when I do go sonic, this is a treat for me. I was wasting time & gas for fast food. It is AWFUL to drive that far & you show up & the place is completely run down. Looks like it's falling apart. No quality control. Dirty place. Looks like I'll either get food poisoning or kidnapped. Anyway, I've been there 3 times in the last maybe 2 years & every time I have hope it'll be a good food run & it never has been. This is hands down the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. They're rude, short, & at times even completely unresponsive. Foods always wrong & the drinks always taste like crap. Place needs to be completely remodeled & staff needs to be replaced. I would really give it a 0 if I could. After not getting any response, I asked another worker if they could check on my order for me and told them I've been waiting for an hour now, and she responded with, "I'll get to you." And even after that they get my order wrong. I pretty much got ripped off. Paid for a Footlong chili dog combo, and only received a regular sized dog. Paid for 2 large chili cheese tots, and only received one of them. I didn't want to wait anymore since I had family that need me to bring them food. I wanted to try this place out again, I hadn't been here since it first opened.their commercials are all over on TV. The first parking stall was tight for a full sized truck, once I got in I look at the screen and see a handwritten note saying not in service Another stall a least had a cone in front of it. I went around and pulled into stall #1, lucky me right? I waited over 5 minutes before I was greeted, then I waited for an additional 2/3 minutes before I was greeted with," are you in a stall or drive-thru" Really???!! I replied I was in a stall, at that point I get asked what number? I replied number one. Long pause and again I get asked, what number? Again I reply number one, NÚMERO UNO! Another long pause........ The light goes out and all communication stops. At which point I pull out and leave the establishment. The food is moderately priced on the menu, in fact it's cheaper than other fast food places I've been to. Too bad they were overwhelmed,(understaffed more like it) most of the stalls were full and the drive thru line was around the building. I don't think I'll be giving them another try, if I do it'll be in another 10 years or so. Maybe this was a one time thing, maybe it's an everyday thing. Then we tired the line, was waiting in line for over 30 mins for a shake and some slushes, line was wrapped around the place. We finally get to the front to order and the employees told us that they weren't making any ice cream or slushes because the machines needed to be cleaned. All the people waiting for nothing.
