So hard to get someone to take your order unless you're in drive thru. This place sucks in service!!

Poor service, poor location and stone cold food. We ordered 3 meals with beverages and while the drinks were very tasty, the establishment didn't have straws. Told us to see if the gas station across the street had some. The food delivered to us wasn't warm even in the middle. We won't be eating it and are disappointed that when recalled no one responded. Well I went back..... And probably won't go again for another couple years after forgetting how bad this place is. Took 5 mins to take my order, 15 mins for someone to come out and ask me if I'm waiting for my order, 5 more mins to take my cc in, 3 more mins to get most of my food after telling them twice they forgot a drink, and another 3 mins for that drink. This was with 3 people in the drive thru and 3 people in stalls, I cannot imagine the wait with a few more. Plus the food, I don't get it, it sucks. What's the draw?? read more

This location knows its horrid and does not care. Ive stopped here about 3 times in the past 5 yrs. this last time was by far the worse. Their new " specialty items" were not available. No pickle fries, no dill burger. So I asked for a hot dog-- not available. Okay, can I get a ______ slushy. " not available". Mini corn dogs? Not available. Oooh, got it. The super uninterested, underpaid, crappé kids just didn't want to work on a Tuesday at 11am. I honestly have never been to such a crappy fast food place in my life. They are always WAY understaff, and then their staff looks high and confused. Previously, they could not figure out how to take my cash. Im not kidding this place is a freaking crap show. There is a drive thru Panda Express, a drive thru bagel place and a Jack In The Box right there at the corner. Go to ANY Of those first. read more

These guys need to work on their customer service. I drove to their stalls and clicked on the red button to order and was told by a worker they'll be with me soon and asked me to wait. I sat and waited and after several minutes I re-clicked on the button and then a young man said sorry that stalls were closed and only the drive thru was opened at this time. Wth? How are you going to make your customers sit there and wait and not inform them anything? So unprofessional! read more

Worst experience EVER! Go somewhere else, this place is not worth 1 star. duration: over 40min, trips to building 3x, blank screen, no person answers call button ... THEN I get a completely wrong order. 1. wrong drink 2. No FF -Was told Jose would bring out FF -back in car He walked by me 5x -no correct FF. THEN again in my car I pull out burger- 3. wrong burger! 3 trips to the door. Only got excuses excuses how busy she (the order clerk) is with orders, drinks, packaging, long list of business etc . Beware ... ordered then blank screen, no person answers call button. waited 15-20min before I even walked to building... was yelled at to get outside. No waiting room or inside counter... She said my card was no good but when run again it took less than a second to approve! She says they have nothing to do with the machines. 4. Wrong drink- no ff- wrong burger (Not even on the menu board) and no help. When I finally left 47min later after being reduced to a screaming mimi - there are another 3 people who have walked to the building because of machine and wrong orders, unhappily shaking their heads and walking in the parking lot. In the end: Jose told me to throw the wrong burger on the ground as he refunded my money. And guess what? The wrong order bag didn't even include a napkin! This place is just another Fast food restaurant. Sonics are rare to find, and the menus is overwhelming due to too many options (but that's my personal opinion). The burgers were decent, score a 3 out of 10. The fries I'd score a 1 out of 10, alright while hot, but too salty and soggy (and barely hot) for my families liking. We prefer crispy and crunchy fries. Our only liking was the ice cream treats, milkshakes and Blasts (ice cream in cups). The options were pretty interesting and I can say it was a good soft serve vanilla base. So if you want some good ice cream, this is a decent place to stop by for a treat. As for burgers and fries, I prefer other fast food restaurants compared to Sonic. read more

I'll start this by saying, it was clear that they're understaffed, so I know it's not the worker's fault for the low rating. However, I seriously waited in line for over an hour last night! When I finally get to order, they're out of the blast I wanted plus all out of sodas. When I finally get my food its cold and the blast I ordered was only about half full. This was the first time I tried Sonic since they don't have any in my area. I was really excited to try it since I see the commercials all the time, but sadly left super disappointed. read more

We are from the mid-west, where Sonic is everywhere. Was excited to find this location. Ordered drinks, while one was fine the other was incorrectly made, upon tasting that the dirty Dr. pepper was incorrect(it was undrinkable) we immediately went back and politely explained. Heading back to LA, had the craving for some Gilroy Sonics. In a hurry and decide to stop here, big mistake. I tried being smart and line up in the drive thru, instead of the drive up. It didn't matter, the one single solitary vehicle in front of me stood there for 7 mins. I pull out and into the drive up, nope not happening either. After repeatedly ringing the call up button, someone took my order with a dark screen. No total was related to me and waited another 5 mins. All together I was here 18 mins before I cut the drive thru, went up to the window and asked for my 2 item order. My wife and I love to drive down to Sonic from our home in south San Jose to enjoy their banana shakes, slushes, jumbo popcorn chicken, chili cheese tots, and other goodies, and then hit Tractor Supply and the outlets. Love me done Sonics! I don't eat here often but the selection is so good They have me coming back for more. Chili dogs and fries are great. My favorite are the different types of shakes and slushies. The blue raspberry is the safe route but who cares go crazy. The options are almost limitless. With the shakes too! Service is friendly and taking my order was easy. You have to order on the app. I've been to other sonics, and always been able to order from the booths or the drive-thru. Maybe something has changed, but it this one, you have to use the app. Not only that, but it looks like the system isn't working very well. My fiancé and I just got really bad food poisoning from this place. We were traveling back from LA and stopped by to this Sonic spot. We both ate foot-long chili cheese dogs. Heading back home on the road both her, and I started to feel real dizzy. It got really bad once we got home. I had to take her to the ER. She felt it the worst. I threw up plenty of times at the hospital and had to use the restroom many times.. on top of that the service was supremely bad. They messed up our order, and when I asked for napkins which they didn't provide at first, they were rude about it. I strongly do not recommend this place. Not sure what time service to your car ended, but we parked in a stall 5-10 minutes before 9pm on a Sunday, 2 spots away from another car. When we tried to order through the speaker, the guy said they're closed and it's drive through only. As he was saying that, someone came out to serve the car next to us...strange. Literally will never come back to this or any other sonic location. And we've eaten sonic for years. At about 7:45pm Saturday 11/20/21 (last night) we pulled up to sonic to order food for our family of 4. After pushing the red button on our stall and getting no answer or acknowledgement for nearly 30 minutes, we download the app and order online for stall delivery. We put in our order, pay, tap in our stall number, and the monitor on our stall starts tracking our order. It says our order is received and paid and currently being cooked in the kitchen. Order was placed at 8:14pm. After 20 minutes it finally says Victor is on the way with our order. Another 10 minutes go by, no sign of our food or Victor. I then walk up to the restaurant itself and knock on the door. There's about 5 workers in there, no food handling gloves on, no face masks, and they all look to be chatting and moving slower than molasses. It's a mess in there, garage and supplies all over the floor, overflowing trash, etc. Finally as I'm not going away and still knocking, a young boy comes to the door to ask what I want. I said we've ordered 45 min ago on the app and it said Victor was delivering our food to our stall more than 10 min ago. I ask if our order was ready and I say I can carry it to my car myself now. He says they don't know about any order. I show my receipt in the mobile app. I'm standing there outside waiting an additional 10 minutes for my food. He walks out to the door and finally hands me ice cold food. No napkins, none of the sauces I requested in app. When I ask for the sauces he dumped them in my hand with attitude and they fell all over the outside ground. The food was horrible and cold. My kids through their food away snd cried in hunger and said it tasted bad. We will never return. Worst experience ever. read more

Be careful - they use the same blender and don't wash it out before making their blasts. We ordered a couple butterfinger blasts and one Oreo blast. The Oreo blast had butterfinger bits inside and all over the lid. I really don't like peanut butter (and luckily I'm not allergic) but it ruined the taste for sure. read more

I always get the either the strawberry slushie or sweet tea... not gonna lie but they have the best ice !! When we arrived there was a long line in the drive thru. I don't live in the area so I wanted to get a quick ocean water before the drive home. We ordered online and pulled into a stall to check in. When we pushed the red button we were told it is drive thru only and cash only. We said we ordered in the app. After waiting someone brought the food. He said they only had one person cooking and other is on break. So first my ocean water doesn't taste right and tastes more like club soda. We also ordered some mozzarella sticks and tater tots as well as a kids meal for my child. The mozzarella sticks were burnt and the tater tots were burnt as well and crispy. The food was not good at all. I decided to look inside my ocean water because it felt heavy and I wanted to see how much ice was in it. Well it is good that I looked inside because there were two flies floating in the top of it. So gross. It's one thing that the food was burnt and bad but flies inside of a fountain drink is unacceptable. This was not a good experience and I will not be going back. read more

Ordered 2 drinks--just Coke--and after 25 minutes walked up to the window and there they sat. I understand that every business seems to be short handed. It does not close until 12. I drove 40 minutes to the sonic with my kids just to make the night exciting and do something special. It's summer, and time to have fun. But clearly the self centered guy that works here does not understand customer service and how to work hard. This was VERY disappointing and I hope sonic will make this right. read more

The drive-up stalls have screens and menus lit, but if you try to use one they tell you they aren't doing that. The card reader went out the night I visited. A staff member came out to tell me this after I'd been waiting in the drive-through lane for about 10 minutes. I left to get some cash and came back. After waiting 20 more minutes, I finally got a chance to order. However, they told me they were not serving what I wanted - a shake.
