It has been a minute since I have been to Sonics. I had been craving a chili cheese hotdogs so I decided to pull up and see what they were working with. I ordered the chili cheese dog with tater tots. My order was out in about 3 minutes...hot and fresh. The tots were so good. The hot dog was average but it did hit the spot. As a chain in general, Sonic is hit and miss. They do some stuff really good, and just so-so for everything else. The Holly Springs Location has been consistently good regarding service, cleanliness, and food quality. For a quick fast food bite, there's no reason not to stop here. NOW on to why I posted about a fast food place which is just copy and pastes of every other sonic in the world..... THE GROOVY FRIES ARE AMAZING, ESPECIALLY WITH A SIDE OF QUESO!!! I have been bypassing Sonic for months knowing they have new fries, but I never stopped to try them. These things hit different. I am surprised they have not gotten more push and hype then they have. I could have just gotten a unusually good batch, but biased off the order I got, I would say they beat out the other fast food fries in a landslide! Service is terribly slow here. On top of that, I just put the straw in my drink & it smelled & tasted like weed! I'm not kidding! I had my husband smell my breath & he could smell it too. He says he can kind of taste the same from his straw. What is going on at this location? This was my third time giving this location a chance and it will be my last. read more

Just moved here from Florida and it's so sad how all of these fast food restaurants have the worst service after 8 o'clock. Came here to grab something to eat and they sit there. Credit cards weren't working only taking cash but then when I told them that I had only a large bill they said they can't break it, which is Impossible. So frustrating. read more

Pulled in at 530p on Friday 4/18 to use car side service. Pressed the button 3 times and waited - screen said "we will be with you shortly". After 3 attempts and close to 20 minutes without as much as a "we are busy be with you in a minute" just went ahead and left. Noticed 2 other cars did the same thing - pretty poorly run. read more

It takes a lot of wrong to leave a fast food review... but we gave this place 3 tries and they always get our order wrong. Today they brought back the wrong order two times. And then I had to go to the door to ask after 15 minutes and no sandwich. Just a sandwich. The carhop brought straws and missed the window and dropped them beside the car in a puddle... watched my husband struggle to get the door open and grab them while also dumping his fries on the ground and just walked off. We paid double for the wrong item no refund was offered. I'm REALLY pregnant so food is important right now. Go for flash fry apps and happy hour drinks but that's it. read more

Service was okay and the food wasn't terrible. My chicken sandwich tasted a bit fishy, I asked for mayo only but it had lettuce and tomato on it. Today I ordered a hot dog, corn dogs and blue ras. slushy and they all tasted great as usual from this location. The star of the show was the deluxe breakfast burrito which tasted phenomenal and wrapped in a foil wrap. I live 10 miles away and it arrived hot unlike the dogs. I was craving a cherry limeade so my husband drove to the next town over to Sonic. My cherry limeade was more of a lemonade than limeade. These are traditionally made with soda water so it is carbonated. Nope. Mine was flat and flavorless. How can they mess up their signature drink? Never again Sonic. read more

The best standard cheeseburger in Holly Springs. Period. I hated Sonic when we lived in Mississippi. Started going to this one just this summer in Holly Springs after living here 11 years...love it. I don't know what's going on with this location. I've been a couple of times for limeades. I asked for a grape limeade the first trip it was bitter and purple that's about it. The drive thru is always incredibly slow. Waiting at the speaker for 2 mins before anyone said a word and then waited 3 mins at the window before anyone came over to take our payment. The orders have been wrong the last couple times as well. I know they were busy with the drive in folks but I was the ONLY one in the drive thru. GREAT service and relatively fast for post-COVID "fast food". I LOVE their cheeseburgers! Their tots are THE BEST and I really like their bacon breakfast burrito, too. Update to Review: After positing my comment on Yelp and sending corporate a complaint I was contacted by Flash (the General Manager) to come by and pick up a replacement meal at no cost. Flash was very personable and corrected the issue in regards to what prompted my original review. During the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy Baby P was obsessed with chicken club sandwiches. I ended up coming to Sonic at least 3 more times in order to try to satisfy the craving. I did learn the hard way to check my order down to which mayo was used. Normally I hate mayo, but Baby P was really into the peppercorn mayo. If you eat here my overall recommendations are to check every single part of your order. Don't go into the experience expecting super awesome service. Original Review: Just don't do it. Go to Chick-fil-A or Wendy's instead. I read the Yelp reviews and thought...could they really be that bad? I mean...it is Sonic and I've spent 20 years eating at Sonic (not super often, but I would eat there over McDonald's any day). It was convenient for me coming home from an appointment in Fuquay - Varina. I have to pass through Holly Springs and figured I would treat myself to a little Sonicy goodness. I thought wrong. I will say that it is partially my fault that my order was incorrect. I'm super pregnant and was kind of wanting to get home for a variety of reasons. (Which if you've ever been 9 months pregnant you can understand why.) Anywho, I also just figured that they couldn't possibly screw up my order to an inedible degree. I ordered the hot dog combo: a Chicago dog, medium soda, and medium chili cheese tot. I also ordered a crispy chicken sandwich that was featured on the menu. I'm not sure of the title of it, but it was supposed to have a peppercorn mayo and just looked REALLY good. The car hop was friendly and I took my food and headed home. I should have checked the food. I got home, up to my third floor apartment, settled in to eat my dinner, and was sorely surprised at probably my worst ever Sonic experience. The good: My soda didn't taste funny and the tots were cheesy and hot. The bad: My hot dog was COLD. (I live 2.3 miles, 5 minutes, from this store...just for reference.) I'm not talking about room temperature, but cold. The bun, the dog, eh. Like it had been sitting there, dead, and got pawned off on me. After I decided to pass on trying to revive it (microwaved relish just isn't appealing to me) I opened the brown bag to hopefully enjoy my crispy chicken sandwich. Which was not what was in the bag. There was a chicken toaster sandwich and it would have sufficed if it wasn't inedible. So, A) wrong sandwich and B) the wrong sandwich was so crappily put together and overcooked that it was inedible. The sandwich was also cold, the bread was smashed and barely toasted, and the chicken was so overcooked that it was dried out and hard. I paid $13 for a medium soda and some chili cheese tater tots. I did the survey on the receipt citing my issues and then also emailed corporate (which passed on the comment to the store). In the past if I have ever had an issue with a Sonic the location was more than happy to contact me and rectify the issue. It's been over a week now and there's been nothing. I even specifically stated in my email to them that I would wait to write a Yelp review. Next time I have a hankering for a chicken sandwich or a hot dog I will find them elsewhere. Sadly this is probably my last encounter with Sonic while I live in this area. read more

This a typical Sonic - and that's not a bad thing. The food is spot-on with other Sonic locations. It tastes fresh and is well made. The drink combinations are incredible and the selection of fast foods is beyond the average chain. I have to share that it can be frustrating to sit in a drive-in spot waiting on your food while watching the folks in the new drive-in lane pass through. :( Nonetheless, if you're in the area then make this your favorite drink spot...and burger spot....and desert spot...and breakfast sandwish spot....and... :) read more

I really wish this place were better, considering I live right across the road! But to be honest, I've never had anything great, but have had many things not so great. The worst was a family size order of fries that were inedible because of the amount of salt on them. Most times the food is just bland. The shakes are cheap when they are half price, that said I'd never pay full price for them as they aren't that good. Service is slow for what is supposed to be a fast food restaurant. It seems as if the place is staffed by high schoolers, which is fine, but they never seem to really care about anything. The prices for meals are high for what you get, especially considering they don't even have a dining room. Personally I'd recommend some place like Burger King over Sonic. read more

I went through today and got a bacon cheeseburger toaster with no tomato and when I went to open the sandwich there was tomato on it. So I spoke to a worker there and said that there was still tomato on the toaster and that I needed a new one. She proceeded to bring me out another bacon cheeseburger toaster with tomato on it still and she asked me to check it and I told her that there was still tomato on it and that I didn't want tomato. So she took that toaster back and then a guy from sonic came out and asked me what I wanted on the toaster and I said that I didn't want tomato. So after about 10 minutes trying to get my sandwich right, another lady brings it out and says what's on it. So after 3 tries, they finally got it right. Pretty much as expected, but like others have mentioned, special orders get messed up really quickly. We just ordered some treats when we were here and one was a sundae which we requested no whipped topping. They asked if we still wanted a cherry and some other topping, and we agreed. What we received was just ice cream and hot fudge. Not a huge deal, but still... Other than that, items were as expected. Nothing spectacular, but nothing a huge disappointment. Yes, the drive thru does seem to have a "slower than it should be" feel to it...and watch out for drivers in line decided to go in reverse for no apparent reason (maybe they were going back to correct their order?). I haven't tried any of their hot food items at this location. Those may be easier to mess up than ice cream though... read more

I went to Sonic today and the staff members were eating food in the kitchen and drinking out of cups throughout the kitchen and they did not have mask on while preparing food for the public during this pandemic. This is only my second time having Sonic so I'm very disappointed I can't go anymore. This sonic is normally good but today I received bad service with bad attitudes. As well as the sweet tea was not sweet enough and then we asked for more and they couldn't make it. They open at 7:00 am, allegedly. Several times I have gone by to get breakfast before work only to find them not open yet. When they are open and I arrive between 7:10-7:15, they tell me they just got there and can only serve drinks. I'm not sure what has changed in the last 6 months or so because it used to be our go to place for drinks and breakfast before work. I'm extremely disappointed not only in the inconsistency but also their attitude about being inconsistent. The guys working the window in the morning honestly don't care about the level of customer service they are providing and make no apologizies for just getting there 10 minutes late.
