Went inside due to the drive though line being static. Ordered a single Cherry Limeaid. During my 22 minute wait i saw 4 different people bring back their orders because the contents were wrong. One poor woman had to bring back her order twice! I'm not a fast food analyst but maybe if they took a couple extra seconds to ensure the orders are correct they could prevent having to remake orders and in theory reduce customer wait times. read more

Ignoring customers giving you business is not okay! Went there about lunch time today for the first time. Decided to go through the drive thru line and waited for a little over an hour. My turn came up to place my order and I waited at the intercom for about 5 minutes and nobody came through. People behind me getting impatient so I decided to pull up to the window to place my order. I continued to wait there and nobody came up to me. I continued to wait for about 15 minutes more and still nobody! The employees are there, but not one employee came to the window to acknowledge me. I believe the manager even looked at me and walked away without asking if I've been helped. Total time spent there was probably an hour and half. I would've left long ago but I got stuck in the line and there was no room to get out. I hope management sees this review cause that was very rude of them. No words to express our disappointment. We have supported this Sonic since day one. Today (Nov 5) we waited in the drive through lane for literally an hour. We know how the wait is at this location and that was not the issue. It was our turn to order. We had been waiting from noon in the line. Now the time was 1pm. I started with ordering two of the number ones and as I was continuing to order the mic was off. I waited 5 mins and no response. I said "hello" and no response. Waited again and said "excuse me" it was silent. I drove up and figured they can help me at the window, maybe they are having technical issues. So they tell the car in front of us to move forward and wait for their order. We pull up to the window the look at us and not a word is said. Then we wait and wait to be ignored and not acknowledged at all. Not one word was said to us as we sat there at the window. After being their now a total of an hour and half from waiting in line till getting to the window we drive away without food and without anyone saying anything to us. Seriously? I totally don't get the folks who are defending this place and saying "it's fast food, get over it". Fast food doesn't mean you have to accept 45 minute waits, broken drive-in kiosks, one employee to cover the entire dining room, drive through lines snaking through the parking lot, hoards of screwed-up orders and poor food prep, and a complete lack of any semblance of service. These problems aren't due to "well it's fast food" and they aren't due to the place being swamped by 200 customers at a time. If it were overwhelmed with 100's of customers, the lines would have been out the door, out the parking lot, and reaching the KFC just up the road. We went last weekend and gave up after it took almost 20 minutes for the two parties ahead of us (inside) to have their orders taken. Not twenty parties.....I said two parties. I watched the entire time as a server on roller skates showed off his moves as he shuttled food out to diners already seated, completely ignoring the guy waiting at the counter to get a problem corrected with his order. The server seemed more fascinated with whirling and twirling around on his skates, showing off his fabulous moves rather than paying attention to customers that needed assistance. He could have easily done that in between shuttling orders, if he had any clue at all but I actually watched him change the bag in a garbage can right beside the waiting customer, without any consciousness at all that the guy needed help. This rollout of the first Sonic in Northern Virginia is a complete disaster, lacking any oversight at all. It's as if someone hired a bunch of teenagers, cut them loose on the restaurant and then moved on to more important things. Really sad Sonic, really sad to see a chain that I once loved, roll out a new location in this fashion. Someone really dropped the ball big time. read more

As far as the food, it's fast food and it's Sonic. It's by no means gourmet or best burgers in town so don't expect that. The food prep still has some kinks to work out, been to many Sonics and here the burgers are sometimes way overcooked and poppers/mozzarella sticks/fries taste like they've been under a heat lamp for hours which I have no idea how that can be because there's constantly a line... I think the biggest downfall here is the staff. There is no positivity what so ever. Hardly any thanks you's or any communication. I'm pretty sure the last visit the young cashier boy was high as a kite. He was in slo motion big time, he didn't speak at all. He stared into space many times at one point I was even gonna ask if he was ok lol.. not expecting Chick-fil-A type service (although there's no reason why that can't be) but come on folks pull your britches up no one wants to see your boxers have some common courtesy, thank you, please and have a good day/night wouldn't kill you! "This is fast food what do you expect" is not an excuse. Last but not least when your ordering drive thru do not look thru the window... seen so many flies it wasn't even funny.. prolly won't be back for awhile unless I need some tea!! read more

After waiting for years to get a Sonic in the area.. I'm done! You expect roll out issues..but the "I don't give a damn" attitude of management is just unacceptable. The kids working there try to be as helpful as possible..but every encounter with management leaves a very poor impression! Sonic charges as much or more for fountain soda as every other fast food place around...$2.19 for a large...and while unlimited refills are standard in the industry..THIS Sonic gave just decided they will no longer allow a refill on drinks. It's not the money..its not the fact you must stand in line to get a refill..its the condescending "Take it or leave it attitude of the managers" I have been joyful Sonic patron for years..have always had wonderful customer service regardless of the location..from Florida to NC to VA...this location has destroyed our impression of the company.. We went inside to eat, there were few tables that were empty but they were all dirty. The place were not that busy at all but nobody bother to clean up. We had dr. pepper and it was terrible , so we had to get a different drink. The cheese in the hamburger was not even melted. We have been to Williamsburg and Richmond and their food and drinks were good. They should keep the lobby clean. I know we will not come back. read more

We went to sonic on a Sunday midday thinking that maybe it wouldn't be super busy. There were a good number of cars in the drive thru but decided to try it anyway. After waiting for almost an hour my wife called the store. The manager said the grill went down. That would have been nice to know before wasting time being trapped in a drive thru. We finally got our food about 70 minutes after entering the line. The food was just ok. The literal cherry on top was no cherry in the cherry lime aid. Also no napkins. This was our second try at this location. It will be a long time before a third. read more

My wife and I visited this Sonic location on September 28th. We waited in our car for 30 minutes due to long lines. When a parking spot came available we parked and went inside. We waited another 30 minutes to order our food. Flies were everywhere. Our order once received was wrong. We had already left the location so I filled out the survey. Steve Covey, who said he was the owner, sent me 3 coupons. My wife and I went back today to find orange cones blocking the entrances. The location was closed for some reason. I get it. I'm done. Poorly run, sat there for 25 min, just to find out my order was given to someone else. When I approach the manager his response was sorry we will make another one, mistakes keeps on occurring since we have teenagers in the kitchen. Asked for a refund and to cancel the order even that took another 15 minutes. Management is highly needed!! read more

Rugged eating experience. Spent over 20min in the drive thru (me and three other cars). Couldn't understand the delay until I got to the window...everyone was just sort of milling around. The young man who finally open the window talked in an inaudible voice and couldn't have been less interested. I get it, fast food is not fine dining, but come on! The food was worse than the service. I tossed the food in the trash and went next door to Bob Evans. It's bad enough I wasted my money, but the real issue is how much of my time this hole wasted. It has been a long time coming for a SONIC to this area and many of us have waited years for the day to enjoy SONIC footlongs, tater tots, and slushies without having to ride and hour to Fredericksburg or Upper Marlboro to have to come to this establishment and have this type of experience is unacceptable. Entered Sonic around 8:30pm and left somewhere around 10:15pm, 30 min wait to order food, 2 hour wait for food delivery (2 sandwiches, onion rings & 2 drinks), bathroom and tables were dirty, food was cold at delivery and drink order was wrong, credit card machine was broke and they had to run my card outside (BRING CASH). Saw people who ordered after me get their food and leave (Our order wasn't difficult in the slightest) An employee did walk around and asked if we were waiting for food and took our receipt to check on our order, 30 min later I had 2 cold sandwiches, crumbled onion rings, and 2 drinks that were both suppose to be RT44 but ended up being one RT44 and 1 Medium. When I requested a refund, there was no pushback, and for that they deserved their 1 and only star. read more

There are a lot of negative reviews on here, but I decided to try it out. The food was hot and really good. It only took 5 minutes for my food to arrive to my car. I would recommend it. The only downside is they don't have many parking places for eating outside. You can go in and eat though. I would recommend coming here. The cheddar peppers were awesome and my burger was full of toppings and fresh. read more

Slowest drive thru, had difficulty producing a cup of coffee (mind you, no cream/sugar). Staff was clueless, MGR was seen carrying electric fly swatter around kitchen. Compared to previous Sonic experiences this was the worst by far and I for one will not be returning. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch, but had a disappointing experience. We opted to dine inside and ended up waiting over 30 minutes as we watched customers that arrived after we did get their food, eat and leave. Went to speak with a manager, but the family that order ahead of was waiting to speak to someone regarding the same issue. They told us our food was just coming out, but did not offer any reason for the wait. The food was not as hot as it should have been but the order was not completely messed as the other family who waited just as long. Also, be prepared to wipe your own table. read more

I go every morning for breakfast and I always get the friendliest of service and a "have a super sonic day". The food is ALWAYS fresh. This is the only Sonic location in Northern, VA which should make it stand out in a positive way given what I thought would be Sonic's way of traditionally doing things in other locations. However, this location doesn't seem to follow what made for a great Sonic experience. While I could get over the lack of the traditional "drive-in" experience at this location, the customer service alone was horrible. Taking into consideration the time it took for our food to arrive, we could have come and gone to a sit-down, or any other fast food restaurant and received our food faster and (most likely) received far better service. Our order was completely wrong, and while the employee that brought our meals out seemed to care, the staff inside did not. It took well over 40 minutes to finally get our meal right. We continued to get ignored while other patrons received their food much faster, despite having arrived after us (30 minutes after in one case). Unless Sonic is changing their way of how they operate at every other location, this one does their brand no service whatsoever. You do not get the Sonic "drive-in" experience here, nor do you receive their typical level of great service. "Local Guide" reviewers for this location do not even realize that the drive-in stalls arent just for ordering here, and people complain when you try to use the stalls for what originally were their intended purpose at every other Sonic location. If you like poor service, a long wait, and (maybe) harassment from other Patrons if you order from the stalls then this is your spot. Otherwise, go anywhere else. There is one Sonic in Stafford and one in Fredericksburg that come much better to the actual sonic experience. read more

Decided to try it out tonight. I knew it would take a while to get through the Drive-Thru. After 40 minutes of waiting I finally got the the ordering menu. The speaker system is too quiet to hear with the wind and the traffic. No big deal, they heard my order I just couldn't answer any questions they asked. 15 minutes after ordering, I get to the window for the food. Having never been, I didn't know what to expect. I simply asked if I had everything which they replied "yes". The bag I thought was my cheesesteak on it's side was a box of chicken tenders fries (not what I ordered). They forgot my cheesesteak entirely. Too many kids to put back in the car and trek back and take inside the store. Fries were mushy and cold at the next light from Sonic (grabbed a few road fries). Tater tots were good, and the rogue onion I found was also good. If I ever go back I'll get the onion rings for sure. They have a lot of issues to work out still. read more

They obviously rushed to open this place prematurely without being organized and having staff trained. We have been twice - the first time we waited 45 minutes in line at the drive through and get to the window and the employees are just standing around chatting, we wait 5 minutes at the window and finally get our food, but they left out the drink and side for my kids meal. Go today and wait inside behind 4 other people ordering (this took 20 minutes as they only had one register going despite a large line), get to the register and they tell me that they are now only taking cash or I can wait 20-30 minutes (with a toddler) to pay by credit card. Of course I didn't have enough cash to cover our entire order and the guy next to me says he has been waiting over 30 minutes for his order so end up leaving with my toddler in tears and no food after waiting 20 minutes in line. It's ridiculous that there would be signs alerting customers before waiting that they only accept cash. If the issue is with their machines and they don't tell customers they should be comping meals not turning customers away after such a long wait due to poorly trained staff. Sadly, won't be coming back, it's obvious the owners of this place don't care given all of the poor ratings since they opened. read more

I waited 51 minutes from the time I got in the drive-thru line until I received my WRONG order! My entire order was wrong on the screen at the drive-thru speaker, so the guy taking my order had to start over. The second time he didn't put on the order that I wanted ketchup and onions on all 3 hot dogs ~ it was on only one of 3 orders. When I asked about it he said not to worry all 3 hot dogs would have ketchup and onions. Some 30 mins. later when I finally got to the pickup window only one of the hot dogs had ketchup & onions, the other 2 were plain ~ plus they didn't even give me the Sonic burger I ordered. Back the order went & I did check the hot dogs when they gave me the order again and they were right. Sadly, I didn't check my Sonic burger because I thought they'd make sure my order was right since they screwed it up the first time. WRONG! The burger was supposed to have everything on it including ketchup and pickles, but neither were on it and "no pickles" was written on the outside paper and there were fries I did NOT order in the bag so obviously they gave me someone else's order. I will NEVER go to this place again because the wait time is way too long, the "geniuses" that work there can't get your order right, and the food is mediocre at best. Stay clear of this place and either go next door to Arby's or across the street to BK where you at least won't have to wait almost an hour for your food. read more

Wow... It took 15 minutes to pull up to and place my order at the drive thru speaker, and there were only 4 cars in front of me. The manager really needs to train the person at drive thru window a little better, or give the person more help. There were so many inefficiencies at the drive thru window, that there's no wonder why it took 32 minutes for me to get food after pulling into the short drive thru line. There were at least 6 orders lined up to go out when I pulled up to the window, so the kitchen staff is definitely getting the food ready Probably wouldn't have taken so long if the drive thru person handed me the straw with the drink or placed it into the bag, and asked if I wanted any ketchup when taking my payment. It looked like she had to bend down to grab a straw too, which indicates that the physical setup of her work station does not promote efficiency either. As for the food... It's a Sonic. I did receive what I would expect, including the partially-thawed slush which seemed to have been sitting for a while before it was handed to me. The rest of the food was warm, but not hot. This place has some serious issues, and it is unlikely I will ever return. read more

Let me start off with that we LOVE Sonic. We grew up on it on Oklahoma. We were so excited when it opened in Manassas VA. We have been there 4 times. And have passed it up seveal more due lines. They have absolutely zero concept of FAST food. Initially we chaulked this up to having an untrained staff and being slammed as it was the 'new' place. The food was also bad, corn dogs cold in middle. The Cherry Limeaide tasted like swil. The drive through lane was like being in rush hour gridlock on I95 and just as frustrating because you cant escape. However we kept trying hoping it would get better. Went again today and knew better than to get in drive through so parked and went in. It was like being in a Twilight Zone episode. Not a happy face in the place. All the tables were full but no one had food. Multiple times customers had to go ask for their food. Two seperate customers came in from outside at the car kiosks and just asked for their money back because they had been waiting over 30 min since their order was accepted. Anthoer customer after waiting for some time was delivered his order for it to be wrong and he had to return it and wait again. I saw another customer get delivered the wrong order twice. The third time they got it right. When we ordered they were out of tater tots which made a significant portion of the menu unorderable. After 20 min we went and ask about our food. Food was sitting ready and getting cold but no drinks had been made. Again the limeaide was horrible. To their benefit they did remake it and it was better. For this Sonic to make it it needs some help from corporate to learn how to run the business. It is too bad as we have driven out of our way to go to a Sonic and really liked that it was here. read more
