This is my mecca, my haven, my place of sanctuary, for all that is good in the world of beer. It's a very unassuming, unpretentious place to meet your worldly desires through the realm of libations, and once you come once you will always want to return. Norm's is not big compared to many of the other beer and wine shops in DC, but somehow they always manage to score the hardest to find beers on the market. I can't speak to their wine selection, as it seems pretty sparse, and heavily focused on value wines, so I've never really seen anything to splurge on, but the beers available here have not been surpassed by anywhere else I've seen in the metro area. I just picked up my newest treat from Norm's, a 3Liter of Stone Double Bastard Ale (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=pTA8c-wZAqHxiSv-Bt-2-w). Here's just a tease of what else is available at Norm's: Avery Demons of Ale Series (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=yo3LtnJPrEPUl763_vId2g): Sammael's Oak Aged Ale, Mephistopheles Imperial Stout, The Beast Grand Cru Ale Avery Holy Trinity Series (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=RSYaoCaEyonbj-6dnLf41g): The Reverend Quadruple, Salvation Golden Ale Avery Dictators Series (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=28a8zc0PGvGyTiCPaGfBmw): The Czar Imperial Stout, The Maharaja Imperial IPA, The Kaiser Imperial Oktoberfest Huge selection of Dogfish Head (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=hpPUiBSTgGze1nMCw8XgIg): Black & Blue, Palo Santo Marron, Immort Ale, 120 Minute IPA, Theobroma, Burton Baton, Punkin Ale, World Wide Stout, Red & White Founders beers (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=IZpKKm77sTVmtgs0pEythg): Centennial IPA, Breakfast Stout, Old Curmudgeon Ale, Harvest Ale, Red's Rye PA, Devil Dancer Triple IPA Great Divide beers (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=uzJr9ebeqvCzxg5Vo1W2Ew): 15th Anniversary Wood Aged Double IPA, Wild Raspberry Ale, Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout, Hades Belgian Ale, Fresh Hop Pale Ale All kinds of Oktoberfests (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=C9QKC6iTeLs8nCqNg-D9SA): Sam Adams, Saranac, Clipper City MarzHon, Left Hand Brewing, Paulaner, Ayinger, Heavy Seas Prosit Imperial Oktoberfest, Schneider Weisse, Hofbrau, Dundee, Hacker-Pschorr, Brooklyn, Starr Hill Festie Rogue beers (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=zILN48Sau6JpT_wBu0tN3w): Maierfest Lager, American Amber Ale, Morimoto Black Obi Soba Ale, Double Dead Guy Ale, Kells Irish Style Lager, Dead Guy Ale, Dad's Little Helper Malt Liquor, Mom's Hefewiezen Lots of amazing stuff from Stone Brewing (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=cv-c1psCSFXjZdq3G6wHUg): Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale, Thirteenth Anniversary Ale, Imperial Russian Stout, Juxtaposition Black Pilsner, Pale Ale, Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout, Double Bastard Ale, Smoked Porter A big variety of seasonal anniversary or one-time beers (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=iCuKQYrX0VpfZjSTl0WJ_Q): Avery Ale to the Chief, He'Brew Jewbelation Twelve, Samual Adams Chocolate Bock, Avery Collaboration Not Litigation Ale, Sierra Nevada Harvest Ale, Carolina Blonde Platinum Blonde, Fullers Vintage Ale, Stone 13th, Avery 16th, Lagunitas 13th, Unibroue 17th, Weyerbacher 14th, Stone Vertical Epic Lots of tasty pumpkin ales (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=DFB3_LUNuY7wr4ktAiFX0w): Ichabod, Dogfish Head, Southern Tier Pumpking Imperial Ale, Smuttynose, Weyerbacher Imperial Ale Christmas/Winter beers to keep you warm (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=OawPgE7LehJKnqlU2_yOyA): Anderson Valley Winter Solstice, Gulden Draak Vintage Ale, Troegs Mad Elf Ale, Affligem Noel, Avery Old Jubilation, Gouden Carolus Noel, Bells Christmas Ale, Rogue Santa's Private Reserve, Anchor Steam Christmas Ale, Delirium Noel, Samuel Smiths Winter Welcome, Penn Brewing St. Nikolaus Bock Bier, Samichlaus Bier And of course my favorite, stouts (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=eXRaYZH2WzuGaWxv0MZxDw): Bells Java Stout, Guinness 250th Anniversary, Jeffersons Reserve Barrel Aged Stout, Lion Stout, Starr Hill Dark Star Stout, Bear Republic Big Bear Black Stout, Southern Tier Creme Brulee Imperial Stout, Allagash Black Belgian Stout, Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast Stout, Left Hand Brewing Milk Stout, Southern Tier Mokah Imperial Stout, Bells Cherry Stout, Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, Bells Special Double Cream Stout, Lancaster Milk Stout The best of the best, the imperial stouts (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7BfS_m3R2SeW-m1vF99gZw?select=c86oUl0Izz8ZrfVRxwUdPg): Arcadia Ales Imperial, Rogue XS Imperial, Samuel Smiths Imperial, Nogne O Imperial, Left Hand Brewing Imperial, Lagunitas Imperial, Victory Storm King Imperial

My husband and I honestly took forever browsing and reading labels. The store manager was incredibly patient with us, even though we probably stayed way too long talking about the cheeses we wanted to try and reading through their recommended pairings pamphlet. She was so knowledgeable and helpful with all of our questions, and even mentioned that they could specialty order anything that might be out of stock for us. Because you can buy their cheese by the 1/4lb, we ended up mixing and matching a selection of five different cheeses and a few cured meats to sample. Everything was absolutely delicious, and they have some really unique flavors available. The wild ramp alpine cheddar was so different to anything I had before, and the truffle manchego cheese was completely packed with so much truffle. The shop is currently celebrating their 10 year anniversary, and I can absolutely see why. Between the incredibly friendly, helpful service and a thoughtfully curated selection of artisanal goods, it's no surprise this business is thriving. This will definitely be my new go-to spot for gifts!

They are known for their homemade pastas and offered a half size portion so you could try both- couldn't pick a favorite, each different and delicious! One of guests had fish which they loved and another had the ribeye and enjoyed it as well. If you're hesitant about it being gamey, don't be! It had a perfect balance of sweetness from the caramelized onions and a distinct, smoky flavor from being torched. For the main, I had the Pan Seared Wild Petrale Sole, which was beautifully cooked and fresh. My friend loved the chicken, and we ended the night sharing a delicious dessert. Bonus: Parking was a breeze--we found a spot on the street right in front of the restaurant. We will definitely be back!
