Service was veryyyyy slow but the place was pretty busy for a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the footlong coney combo with a cherry limeade and tots. The kiddo had a kids meal with a cheeseburger and cookie blast shake. The hotdog was overdone and the bun was dry. The onions were roughly chopped and the chili was okay. Honestly I wasn't impressed by the food although I'd agree the drinks weren't bad. The car hops were friendly, but since this is the only sonic close I'll stick to the tots and drinks!

First time, long line. This better be good.

Line was stupid long but it moved fast. It was later at night, so we had to do the drive through window (which was a bummer because my girls had not been to a Sonic before, so they've never experienced the delivery to the car process). We didn't get food, so I'm holding my 5th star for now until we try it. However, the service was friendly and quick, and our milkshakes were delicious, so I'm hopeful that their food will deliver as well.

Generally stop in for a Diet Cherry Limeade before traveling back to Indianapolis - decided to try a burger and onion rings this time. Cherry limeade was delicious! Surprisingly, the burger was tasty - flavorful, moist, well-seasoned but there were A LOT of condiments on it. The onion rings were terrible - sickly sweet and greasy. I did get a "pup cup" for my dog, which she enjoyed (but had to split because it was very large).

It was 50 cent corn dog day and I ordered enough for the entire family. It was our first time trying the promotion and they were great until my toddler was given one with a missing stick. No biggie until she was eating it and choked on a small broken off piece of the "missing stick" hidden inside. I tried calling several times and got no answer. I'm very disappointed that they didn't even try to make this right. I'll be going to corporate and hopefully they'll answer. (Just found a second without a stick, at least this one was an intact stick so nobody choked on this one luckily. I'll show a pic of it)

Moodith: A Calder Bros. Love Letter A confession from a…read moredairy addict with no plans for recovery When I was little, I lived with my grandparents in a house that still had a milk chute by the side door. Some of my earliest memories are of Gram accidentally locking us out. She'd give me a leg up, and I'd clamber through that tiny door like some pint-sized action hero. Without fail, I'd crash into the brass umbrella stand and send it tumbling down the basement stairs, which sounded like a car crash. But after landing in a heap, I'd pop up, fling the door open, and beam like Fievel finally finding his family and fitting into his giant hat. Now, Calder's might not be sliding bottles through chutes anymore, but they will still deliver to your doorstep: milk, eggs, butter, the whole wholesome package. This is a lifesaver for my 96-year-old Gram, who doesn't exactly "pop into Meijer" the way she used to. Downriver might not be a postcard neighborhood, but Calder's honestly dignifies it just by existing. But let's get real: I'm here to talk about the eggnog. This is not your run-of-the-mill jug. It's eggnog with the viscosity of wet cement and the caloric density of my future regrets. It's one of the main reasons I'll never hit my "target weight," unless that target is simply "rotund." Here's the thing...I have a dairy problem. When I was a teen, I once complained to my doctor about my loud stomach. She suggested I give up dairy. I laughed directly in her face. Given that I'm usually pathologically polite, that was basically the emotional equivalent of slapping her. If my family ever staged an intervention and gave me an ultimatum, dairy would win, and it would be the loss of a pretty good family. My addictions, in rough order, look like this: 1. Dairy. 2. Buying stuff I don't need (but swear I'll use). 3. Caffeine. 4. A practiced devotion to the unattainable (sigh/fml). 5. Hoarding premium gel pens like they're rare Pokémon. So yeah, Calder's doesn't just have a customer for life. They may very well end up as the surprise beneficiary of my estate someday. Picture it: a modest inheritance left not to wayward relatives, but to the cows themselves...my final act of dairy philanthropy.

So there is plenty of room for people to get a permit and sell snacks, plus right now due to the pandemic, there is a good crowd for plenty of hungry customers. According to the gentleman who works the wagon, they were previously at Belle Isle, but now they are here most days of the week (according to him, usually Wed-Sun). Also, according to lore, this adorable wagon was acquired from Disney World. At this wagon they serve scoopable Hershey's ice cream. While they did not have too many flavors, they chose some good ones, the classics like chocolate and vanilla, and some creative ones like llama llama birthday cake and banana pudding. The prices are pretty good for a food truck, $5 gets you a single scoop in a cup, and waffle cone (there are three flavors; chocolate, caramel, and vanilla), or a make your own sundae where you choose from several toppings. A double is only $3 more. They can also make ice cream floats. They also have baby cones for $4. I was hankering for a fun food truck experience, and I think they delivered.
