Hanging out with new friends tonight at a new place! Love the atmosphere and the service was great. I had the Steak Caesar Panini. The steak was cooked to perfection, the pieces were the perfect size, very tender, and by far the best steak sandwich I've ever had! It's not close to me, I would come back numerous times for that sandwich! It looked so good, I forgot to take a picture! Two people in my group had the ribeye and it looked amazing, and it was huge! Where has this place been my whole life? Fantastic Polish Food on "Polish Thursdays" and outstanding service in an impeccably clean restaurant! I had the stuffed cabbage dinner which comes with three stuffed cabbages, mashed potatoes, kapusta, and a roll. My meal did not disappoint! Best stuffed cabbage that I ever had, and I have had some fantastic stuffed cabbage. The golumpki reminded me of my grandmother's stuffed cabbage, as well as eating stuffed cabbage at the Polish Halls growing-up; just excellence in its execution of the dish. The kapusta is also fantastic (containing bacon, mushrooms, and green pepper). And outstanding mashed potatoes. This is a must try for lovers of stuffed cabbage. And my meal was served piping hot, as it should be - a huge plus in my book! Cannot wait to go back for "Meatloaf Tuesdays". My fellow Yelpers know that I have had some fantastic meals. Most of the food is amazing, I recommend the pulled pork sliders for sure. Most of the time, the wait is quite long though because it's really busy. One problem is that the items with corned beef (Reuben sandwich, etc) made multiple of my family member's stomachs really upset and had diahhrea a couple of hours after eating. read more

Haven't been in a while, but they make a fine burger. They are near the Animal Clinic so if you need to get away while waiting for your pet, this place and Culver's are your best bet. The Mickey d is crazy to get to get into, so forget them unless you are using Southfield to go south to get home. Northbound folk, you need to point north and find food. Every time that I visit home (Allen Park), I hit up the Wheat and Rye since it is just a block from my parents' house. Compared to when I lived in Allen Park about a decade ago, they did a good number of reservations; it's still not fancy, but seems much cleaner and less dated. They took the pool table away for a little bit, but it's back which is fun. All the food we have had has been good bar food, perhaps even exceptional at times. I really like the calamari caesar and the fried mushrooms are amazing. I have had the paninis, corned beef, reuben, steak, and a bunch of other random things; they're always exceptional. This isn't a fancy cocktail bar, but they have a few things on draft, often have multiple drink specials, and the margaritas were just $2 the last time I went there. Tried wheat and rye for the first time yesterday. What a disappointment. I ordered a Reuben because I heard they were massive. Well, yes they are massive but the only thing massive is the amount of bread. It's such a gimmick. You get the sandwich and it looks big until you see it up close and realize it's all bread and little meat. The corned beef was grilled which automatically tells me its low grade commercially processed corned beef. I took a bite and was overwhelmed with the saltiness of the corned beef and kraut. There was barely any dressing to help disguise the flavor of the rubbery corned beef and there was 1 slice of tasteless cheese for this bread sandwich. $16 for a mostly bread sandwich and fries without a drink. Well they fooled me once, but not again. Wait staff was friendly though, I'll give them that. read more

The food is ok and you get a lot of it for the price, but they more than make up for it with their beer prices. If my rating was based strictly on their food, they'd have three stars. The reason for the two stars: I was there with my wife for an early dinner. I had 2 draft M43 beers. Keep in mind these are pints and not bottles. Also keep in mind it's brewed in Michigan. That said, I almost had a heart attack when I saw my bill. THEY CHARGED $7.50 A PINT!!!! I asked the waitress if the price was correct. With a half smile she told me the price was correct and gave me a "Sorry." No - I'M sorry. Sorry for going in there and getting bent over on the price of a beer. If I'm going to spend top dollar on a beer, it's going to be for KBS, CBS, or something special. This place has no right (other greed or market ignorance) to charge what they charge for a "craft" beer. They need to do a little research and realize people are going to stop going there once they've been screwed. Do yourself (and your checkbook) a favor and go to bierkeller if you want a good beer selection. They don't charge top dollar for common beers. Better yet, run down to your local beer store and pick up a sixer of whatever you'd drink at wheat & rye. I'm sure you'll spend less than you would for 2 beers. Well, it turns out they don't like any negative comments, because I messaged them privately and complained about a server who was really bad. They blocked me because I sent them a private message informing them of poor service. Food is still very good. Service is incredibly slow even when just a few customers are present. Waitstaff are probably hard to come by based on the experience last evening. Waitress was either overwhelmed with carry out orders or simply didn't want to be there. 75% of the chairs/stools where turned over as it was not at all busy. After sitting down it took at least 20 minute for her to take our order. The younger energetic waitstaff of old don't apparently work on Sunday afternoon. We tipped the old gal just over 20% out of pity more than service Food is still very good. lol read more

Place was busy when we got here, was still able to get a seat. Our waitress was Shelby-she was awesome. The place wasn't really loud. We could hear each other talk. Music was playing in the background. We had the fried pickle chips to start with, they were tasty though the pickles could have been cut thinner. Prime Rib was good. The zucchini had onions mixed in it. Was not a fan so changed it to the fresh green bean, with no problem. The ham and cheese sliders were more than enough. 3 came with the order along with French fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw was on the dry side for me. We will definitely be back. This wheat and rye I was very impressed with. Nicely done on the inside for a bar. It was very cozy and the set up was very comfortable. It was a seat yourself kinda night, lots of families sitting together so my brother and I sat in a booth. Right away greeted by a nice funny waitress, Danielle. Brought us our drinks, gave us our specials menu. I was very wowed with the menu for a bar. My brother ordered the steak dinner, well done to perfection for him and I ordered the Alfredo special. O M G was that plate of pasta humongous. I mean who could finish that!! Good enough to feed a family of five! So I had a few bites and was full. We drove 25 mins to go to the Allen Park Wheat and Rye. Long story short, had bad service and WAS CHARGED FOR HAVING MY RYE BREAD GRILLED for my CORNED BEEF sandwich..... wtf? I have NEVER been charged at any restaurant to have my bread grilled. Got my sandwich and my bread wasn't grilled - but the charge was on my bill. So I went to Allen Park Wheat and Rye Facebook page and commented on what happened. Welp they never reached out to me - they just deleted my post and blocked me from commenting anymore.
