Well with all the hype in the local media about Sonic opening you would think that a restaurant that had good food at a reasonable price was coming to Milwaukee. If you have never been to a Sonic understand that the only thing special that they offer are tater tots and drinks. They offer a happy hour from 2-4pm which is the only time I would go there because the drinks are half price during those times. In these economic times that brings the prices for the quality into an acceptable range. The food offered in my experience from locations across the country is VERY poor quality. My comparison is food you buy out of a vending machine, greasy and a manufactured flavor. This is not fast food, the service is slow and not worth the wait. Sonic is fun like IKEA was the first time you went but as time goes by you realize they just sell overpriced crap. Happy eating read more

OMG... four stars for fast food from me? How can that be? I am rating fast food vs other fast food, not fast food vs gourmet restaurants, or even pubs, or taquerias or anything like that. It is illogical to expect Fleming's or Mo's quality and service out of a fast food place, and it's not fair to rate them in comparison. OK, lecture on reviewing over. This is fast food, and as far as fast food goes, Sonic does very well. The burgers are tasty, the other menu items are creative, the food is fresh and hot... And they bring the stuff to your car on roller skates. What's not to like? Not to mention they have TOTS! Tater tots on a fast food menu. Thank you. Reasonable Chicago dogs and pretty darn tasty chili dogs... As such, I should be five stars, right? Well... Sorry. I can't do it. I don't like their ice cream. It honestly does not taste right to me, and not just because I'm a Milwaukee guy used to premium frozen custard, but even compared to ice cream from Breyers, or Baskin-Robbins or any other standard ice cream shop or store brand. For quick ice cream, I'll take the soft-serve at McDonald's over Sonic. There's something I can't place my finger on, but it's not my favorite. Too creamy, maybe too aerated? Anyway... Worst customer service EVER! Think of it this way, It's the Walmart equivalent of fast food/drive thru. The employees inside that little spot are dirty looking and so is the actual location. Food is poorly done with no actual attention to detail. Do yourself a favor and just scan through the other reviews and see how many people the same problems. This morning I thought I would try the steak,egg and cheese burrito. First off it was above BK and MD breakfast burritos. The steak was not what you have at home and was fast food meat but it was kind of tasty. Over all it was ok as far as fast food chains go. Grease ran down the bottom all over my arm so be careful. I would get this a couple times a year just for something different but it will not be a regular. I like to try new food even if it's chain fast food so I will keep an open mind and continue checking out other places. $3.17 for the burrito. The drive thru seemed like ten miniutes from start to leave at 7:30 am and I was the only car in the whole lot. When I was much younger, I used to love going to Sonic. So, when I heard that today was dollar hotdog day, my family and I headed right on over. No, our visit wasn't all that great, because, unfortunately, the lady at the window cannot math. We should've paid just over six dollars for our order, but we got only $2.5+ in change. I guess she tipped herself. The food wasn't that bad, but she got our order wrong and gave us the wrong change. The nostalgia just isn't worth the trip. read more

Honestly, wouldn't even give this place a one star. We just went here after a brewer game to get some ice cream. There was quite a few people both parked in the stalls and in the drive thru. We parked in the parking lot and walked up to the screen thing to order. We were there for about 4 minutes deciding what we wanted when an employee came out and said "they were too backed up to take our order." No I'm sorry or if your okay with waiting we can take your order. Just plain we can't take your order. I'm sorry, but all we wanted was ice cream. How can you not take an ice cream order?! Mind you as we were sitting trying to figure out where to go for ice cream, 2 cars pulled up into stalls and as we were walking to our cars they were ordering. When this Sonic opened years ago it was awesome but then it gradually got worse. The experience was ruined by horrible customer service! The professionalism of the employees just got worse and worse. Yelling over the speaker, not getting orders right. It's been some time since we have visited so we decided to visit again and see what may have changed. Too my surprise nothing had changed. I wish 0 stars was an option...We stopped for "something quick". We pressed the red button and after 5 minutes they finally acknowledged us. We placed our order and patiently waited 25 MINUTES for the orders to come out. The chicken tenders were cold in the middle. The cheeseburger was smashed, and the patty melt with fries turned out to be 2 cheeseburgers, a corn dog, tater tots, and 3 packets of mustard. Ever since I first got the news that sonic was coming to Milwaukee I was overly elated. I saw the commercials and wanted to try the food. I went in the late afternoon and it was packed which I expected since it's only been open for about a month. The customer service was great and I personally thought that the skating carhops were awesome....but moving on. I ordered the coney cheese dog with fries and a raspberry iced tea. First off I loved the coney cheese dog to me it was great and I was surprised at how long it was. The fries were "fries" they were good although I don't think they can touch McDonald's French fries. The only thing I had a problem with was the raspberry tea because I thought it was going to be like brisk or nestea but it was brewed and then sweetened. That was my mistake though I probably should have asked before hand. So all in all it was a good first experience and I gave it 4 stars only because of the wait. read more

Sonic is the only national fast food chain I acknowledge, so I was pleased when this branch opened. Finally today I got a chance to test their version. The carhops were still in rollerskates (in January!) and friendly and efficient as ever. The Tots were perfectly crispy on the outside and squishy on the inside. The grilled chicken wrap was decent, though a little light on tomato. And the cherry limeade still included the maraschino cherry on top. I was happy to reacquaint myself with this old friend (and haven't yet had heartburn problems because of that late lunch). read more

For someone who has experience multiple different sonic locations, this has to be the worst location of them all. After pressing the red button to order, it took them at least 10 minutes to acknowledge that we were there. They were very confused and slow while taking our order. The communication was lacking. We asked for a chicken dinner and he said it did not come with tater tots but the menu says it does. I had asked for honey mustard and ranch sauce and they didn't bring any. Which isn't a big deal...it happens. I pressed the button again and politely asked if they could bring me some since they had forgotten. At least 20 minutes has passed and I am still waiting here for the dipping sauces as I am typing this review. To top it off, my chicken dinner is getting cold! I haven't been to sonic for awhile because for awhile the food quality went right down the crapper. I decided to try it again today and wasn't blown away by any means....but was satisfied with the burger quality. The tots were drowning in oil and nobody like soggy tots, so that kind of sucked. They've added a nice compliment of shakes for the summer including a personal favorite from when I lived in the south....the banana cream pie shake. Again, I wasn't blown away, but I do feel the burger quality was a bit better than your standard mcd's burger. read more

I decided to give the food a chance because they pay so much for advertisement that they must put money in to their food, they clearly do not.
