a car stopped at a traffic light

Burger, fries and some concoction that features custard- you can't lose. Still features friendly car hops to take orders and deliver food. It's delightful. This was a high school hang out for us, so glad it still thrives. (It is exactly the same.) Warning- cash only!

Tasty ice cream and custard, I just wished they had given me napkins to finish it off before it instantly started melting in my hands. Other than that, I have no complaints--the ice cream had a super fresh and tangy raspberry flavor and a rich and creamy custard topping that I'll be craving for months to come ~

**Cash Only** Kitlie has really stepped up their game the last couple of years! They have upgraded their menu and I am a huge fan of the new items. Lets start off that it is an old school drive in. A perfect place to bring your family, friends, and even go out on a date to. I love the concept and the fact that the tray sits on your window. Yall, ever since I tried the chicken dinner I have yet to go back to a burger or hot dog. The burgers are typical but the specialty dogs can be hit or a miss with the bun getting soggy. BUT the fried chicken is honestly one of the best I have had, what a statement. The skin is so darn crispy it is unbelievable. Even when the chicken cools, the skin stays crispy. It really is magic. Seasoned delicious magic. (pro tip! Get a side of cheese for your fries ;) Since the chicken dinner was so good, I had to try the chicken wings and the chicken wings come to a close second. You have the option of mild or hot and the sauce is incorporated with the breading topped with more seasoning. This is not a saucy wing and I would not consider the hot to be spicy at all. Do not skip out on the chicken here. As for everything else, I recommend the onion rings, mozz sticks (wonton wrapped!), jalapeno poppers, mini corn dogs, and all their custard. My personal favorite is a vanilla malt with extra malt because it is the right slurpable consistency. My one complaint about Kiltie is that when it is packed and you are parked 3 cars deep, it is impossible to see the menu without stepping out of your car and they do not provide any paper menus. Come on a week day and you shouldn't have any problems.

If you happen to be in Oconomowoc you must stop at Kiltie's for a treat!! My GPS did not work exactly right, but Kiltie's is located on a kind of frontage road, adjacent to the highway. Not much has changed at the Kiltie as far as signage, menu and car-hop service....awesome!! If it ain't broke don't fix it! The server showed up fairly quickly and gave us just enough time to peruse the menu and decide on our food. And guess what the server was wearing...a KILT. So appropriate. We enjoyed our food which consisted of a ham and cheese sandwich, and hot dog and fries. We were in a rush so we'll have to check out the ice cream next time. The fries were our favorite dish. The car adjacent to us said she's been coming here for years and loves it. And if I lived nearby, I would definitely be a regular customer, too.

Kiltie drive in

Kiltie was packed when we pulled in on a Tuesday night, but the service was still prompt in spite of that. The food was delicious (if the burgers were a tad plain the flavorful sides of onion rings and mozzarella sticks more than made up for it). You can eat at the outdoor picnic tables or in your car like an old fashioned drive in. The ambience was friendly and fun, with lots of families when we stopped in. The only thing that stopped me from giving it a full five stars is they made one of our burgers wrong, and the prices were a bit high for what we got. Be aware that they only accept cash as payment. But I highly recommend this spot, whether for a meal or just a frozen treat, and I can see why they have so many regulars who stop in!

Had a very good experience at the Kiltie tonight. My server was Natalya. She Assisted me with my order and before I knew it the custard was back at my car. My experience at this drive-in restaurant is nostalgic bringing back memories of driving ice cream joints from my childhood. They have quality food, excellent service, and they're friendly and welcoming. I will return and I do recommend.

1/3 Lb cheese burger

Love the atmosphere but the food is hot garbage at best. Ordered a cheese burger and couldn't even take a bite of it because it looked so ratchet. Low quality and I don't think they even cooked the thing lmao

Service: ***** Atmosphere: ***** Fun: ***** Quality: **** Menu: **** My rating really is 4.5 stars...Another review on my long list of places that I've come to love as a kid. I've been coming here for many decades (to protect my age). Spending days on the lake and heading here with friends as teenagers was the thing to do. Where can you find a drive-in with car hops like this? Lets faced it, you come here for the experience. The fun of driving up, parking, ordering from the car, windows open and music going. People watching or looking at cars! The food is good with all of your traditional burgers, hot dogs, fried stuff and custard. It is a family friendly atmosphere. The place has been kept up well especially since it hasn't changed much besides painting for the most part in decades. We recently came here on a Sunday evening on a warm summer day and we were parked three cars deep. Still fast service by the car hops watching who is coming and who needs service. Cash or check... sorry, no debit or credit cards accepted so be prepared! Give young kids an experience that their grandparents had, and expose them to a family cruise in the back roads to a great throwback to a true drive-in.

Service was fine, sweet treats were good but the burgers were not very good. We would only go back for ice cream.

It's an interesting place, but hard to put into a specific category. It offers hot beverages, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, oatmeal, etc. -- and then they also have ice cream. When I walked in, I was a bit unsure about the layout and seating. In the first area, there are a couple of tables. There are lots of things going on in this space, and it feels a bit cramped and chaotic. The order counter is here, along with a small kitchen. Beyond this space, you'll find a much larger seating area with tables for different-sized groups. I'm not a design expert, but this area also felt a bit chaotic. I didn't sense any overarching design. For me, it didn't have the relaxing, chill vibe I look for in a coffee shop or café. Got a super friendly greeting and service. Ordered a couple of tea lattes -- one Chai, and the other a London Fog (little lavender, little vanilla, extra foam). Both were made in mugs, served at the right temperature, with great flavor. Got a couple of the scones, and those were just "okay." They were dry (which a scone should be), but they leaned more muffin-like than shortbread-like. Overall, the visit was a mixed bag -- not bad, but not a place I'm likely to return to.

Great coffee and drinks! We will be back for ice cream. The staff was very friendly and I…read morerecommend the croissant sandwich

They also have different specialty cocktails throughout the year. -Cheese curds...I know, it's Wisconsin, but these are right up there with the elite. Cons: -I'll let you know when I find some. We've been to Crafty Cow several times over the last year, probably four or five times, and we've always been impressed by how friendly the waitstaff and bar staff are. The owner is also very nice and clearly involved, which I think is cool. I almost always order the same thing: the chicken strip meal, which comes with three huge strips and a large side of fries. The chicken here is really interesting because it's marinated in pickle brine. You can definitely taste the brine, and it adds something you didn't even realize was missing. My wife used to order the same thing, but now she tries something different each time because she knows she can share my strips. Everything she has tried has been good. Also worth mentioning: they have really good ranch dressing. I was surprised when I looked up Crafty Cow on Yelp and saw that it had less than four stars. Looking at some of the older reviews, I'm guessing it may have had a bit of a rocky start. But based on our experiences, Crafty Cow has been consistently great, and we'll definitely keep coming back.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND Working with clients in Oconomowoc, I…read morerecently lunched at Crafty Cow Burgers & Fried Chicken; we had a terrific experience! The interior decor is very 'pub' like with expanses of dark wood and many art prints/framed works on the walls; there is a large bar in the front area with several tables/high-tops. In the back, the aesthetic is more 'industrial' with exposed brickwork and beams. We were greeted by the bartender (?) and seated immediately; our waitress brought us menus, reviewed the specials with us, and then brought our drinks. Crafty Cow specialises in 'craft' sodas and I enjoyed a very nice diet 'cola' drink with lemon; it was delicious. I ordered the chicken sandwich with the 'Nashville Hot' seasoning (because, hello, Nashville Hot) and it arrived piping hot with lots of shoe-string fries, also piping hot. The flavours were absolutely wonderful, full of contrast and balance. The 'heat' from the chicken was excellent; the chicken was plump and juicy, and had been perfectly breaded and fried. The slaw was also excellent: just the right balance of sweet and crunchy to offset the hot chicken. My clients and I enjoyed our visit to Crafty Cow Burgers & Fried Chicken and plan to return! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
