Excellent food and service. Have tried the pizza, salad, wings, and burgers - all very good and cooked as ordered. Very friendly service in a laid back atmosphere. They have a cash discount. This will be a regular stop for us

The hostess asked if the patio would be ok and we were delighted to say yes. My wife is using a walker due to upcoming hip replacement surgery and the hostess suggested we use the outside patio gate instead of trying to pass through the restaurant. We sat in the patio and water and fresh hot 2 kinds of bread were placed on the table. Our server, Connor, is so knowledgeable and pleasant. He was patient with us and his wine suggestion was spot on. Great sense of humor and he worked all the patio tables. The food choices were amazing and exceeded expectations. Pricing was comparable with what we expected. The lobster bisque was thick, hot and very filling. There was ample pieces of lobster as well. My wife shared that her pasta was not hard or dry or rubbery but tasted freshly made. Connor shared that the prep starts every morning with homemade pasta. The traditional toasted ravioli were just that, toasted and tasty and the CG shrimp seemed so much more than an appetizer. Meals could be had with just those. I was very satisfied it ordered lasagna anyway. I just had them pack it to go as I was comfortably full. I know there are a lot of choices on the Hill but I assure you this one stands out. Please treat yourself to Charlie Gitto's. Don't wait for a special reason. Any time you eat here will be special

We had 6pm reservations and were seated on time but people without reservations faced a 2 hour wait. Make reservations! Upon entering, there is a hostess stand and small bar with seating extending to the back of the building. We had the first table so I can't comment on the full size. My son ordered a Bloody Mary and I had a Pinot Noir while we looked at menu. Bloody Mary was very good and the wine was pleasant. We started with Garlic Bread with Cheese. It was the only menu item I would not order again. Flavors did not come together. I ate my fair share so it was good. Just not great. We then shared a cheese pizza with provel. Elite crust and sauce! The crust had an amazing char and the sauce was deliciously nuanced. The cheese was very good, but most definitely not the star of the pie. Pasta Pomodoro was wonderful. House made pasta was excellent and the sauce was a perfect accompaniment. (Anthonino's really does sauces well!) I finished with tiramisu and I am so glad I did! Did I need it? No. Did I want it? Heck yeah! I think I will be wanting it every day for a long time to come! All of the staff were welcoming and friendly, while remaining efficient. Nice group of people. Wonderful experience from start to finish. I'll definitely be returning!

This time, we arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday night and were sat at a table in the main thoroughfare. The ambiance was poor and it was so loud that we needed to shout to be heard. We ordered the caramelized cauliflower appetizer which was drowning in cream sauce and so smothered in cheese that it no longer looked like a vegetable. It was too rich for us. They were considerate to give us plates to split the scampi style shrimp, which was well cooked. However, the grilled beef tenderloin and potatoes were very lackluster. We'd asked for medium rare and the kitchen must have been rushing as it was still raw in the middle. We tried to get the server's attention, but they were very busy and we gave up. A particularly strange and rude interaction from our server when collecting the check left a bad taste in our mouths. I was glad to see their popularity but disappointed at how it decreased the quality of our experience. Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant time overall. If you are planning to go, I recommend choosing a less busy time for a better experience.

I have had salve osteria on the hit list for a while, and my expectations were far exceeded. This place is both insanely busy and also a hidden gem at the same time. It does not get the attention, nor press it deserves. The place is jumping with good people and good vibes. I got their New Years special which was prix fixe with prime rib as the main event. Everything was superb. The cassoulet had a beautiful spice with a velvety texture. The crab tom yum risotto was so decadent. Silky smooth from the coconut with a beautiful herby finish from the mint chili oil to complement the crab. I never thought I'd say this, but the brussel sprouts stole the show! Cooked in some bacon fat they were crunchy, salty, and perfect. Oh, and the prime rib was everything a kid could ever dream of. Fatty and the cacao rub was amazing. The horseradish was spectacular. The whipped potatoes were light and airy. Think of mashed potatoes in whipped cream form. A texture and flavor combination I will now dream of because I imagine I will never get to experience something so lovely again. As for cocktails, i kept it simple with a martini... I mean, it is a gin bar, how could I not? The service was great. I was dining solo and the servers and bar tender kept me updated, well taken care, and treated with intense hospitality. Despite being super busy they still prioritized me! Can't wait to get back and try the normal menu, everything looks lovely in a lovely space full of lovely people!

Food 4.2 Service 5.0…read more Ambiance 5.0 I ordered the gnocchi appetizer and I knew I was in for a treat after the fist bite. Fluffy clouds of delightfulness. The duck bread entree was seared to perfection and cooked exactly how it was meant to be cooked. The Panna Cotta was a seasonal masterpiece. I did have one issue: I ordered a Barr Hill Vodka Martini at a premium price, and it had a strong taste of Juniper. I alerted the staff and they were very apologetic and understanding, unfortunately the manager assured me it was Vodka and didn't acknowledge the possibility it tasted like gin. I'm guessing bartender failed to rinse the shaker properly after the previous gin shake, resulting in a vodka drink with a strong gin flavor. The staff kindly replaced the drink with a lower quality vodka that helped satisfy me. The situation was resolved, but I walked away feeling misunderstood and dismissed by the owner. I will be back and I do recommend this restaurant. :)

We ordered a bottle of Amarone and enjoyed it with the whole meal. For starters, we ordered the polenta with Italian sausage between the two of us. We could only exclaim about how creamy the polenta was. It was extremely hearty, with some vegetables and thinly sliced Italian sausage. I'm glad that the Italian sausage was thinly sliced because otherwise it would have been overpowering for my palette. The next dish that my daughter had was technically a Caprese salad, which was tomato and mozzarella. She didn't like the red onion, but had asked for balsamic vinegar on the side, which she added to the salad, and when I tried the balsamic vinegar, even I realized that it is one of the best that I have ever had. My daughter went with the gnocchi, and said that it was among the best that she had ever had. We shared a veal and mushroom risotto between the two of us, and it was perfectly moist, the veal was not overpowering, and it was perfectly cooked. The veal just simply melted in the mouth. My osso buco came on a saffron risotto, and the osso buco was fantastic, tender, and simply delightful. I enjoyed the marrow very much, but I almost wished that the dish came with polenta, not risotto. However, it was still magnificent. We took dessert to go, because we couldn't finish everything at all. However, this is definitely not going to be the last time we come here. The ambience was fantastic, very intimate, darkly lit, but still noisy, with people having fun here. Our service was top of the line, with great humor. Give this place a try. You won't be upset, neither will you regret it. Our compliments to the chef, staff, and owner. What a home run.

The drinks were just OK, not fully mixed. The ambiance wasn't much better. It was noisy, with a constant parade of traffic passing right by our table. Our server was just OK. The oddest part of the evening was the table busser, who would literally throw plates and silverware into his tub. Every few minutes, he'd clear another table, crashing everything around.
