This was my first time at Liliana's Italian Kitchen. I had read great reviews and looked forward to dining there. My wife and I met with some family members for lunch this past Sunday. There were other people there. The hostess and waitress were very hospitable. I ordered the lasagna with a side salad, and my wife ordered the chicken modiga. We heard the portions were big, and that is the truth. My serving of lasagna was about 4 inches square and about 3 inches tall. Multiple layers of pasta and meat and other yummy stuff. I ate about half and took the other half home. My wife's chicken modiga was also huge. She got two breaded chicken breasts and a pile of pasta. She ate about half of one chicken breast and brought the rest home. The chicken breast that she started eating was great. Nice breading. Nice lemony sauce. The next day we reheated our leftovers. We each got some lasagna, and we split the chicken breasts (I got the whole second one and she got the one she started on the night before). The lasagna tasted as good as the first time. This is what I noticed on the chicken breasts. The whole chicken breast tasted like it had a rubbery side to it. I suspect that particular chicken breast had freezer burn on the one side. The other chicken breast was perfect. I had my wife try my chicken breast and she agreed, kind of rubbery. I don't know if this is a one off thing or if this happens often. As I stated this was my first time there. That is why I am taking one star off for my review. Other than that chicken breast, everything was great! I will eat there again. Went for lunch with my sister and brother in law and left stuffed with a big ol to go bag too! I had the lasagna, my sister had the baked rigatoni with the world's largest meatballs, brother in law had the Tony sandwich and we all loved our meals. The location was chosen because it was a good midpoint for us, a friend in the neighborhood recommended it. Grabbed take out for dinner tonight to take advantage of their chicken spedini special but had to order a few other things as well. Tonight we ordered 2 spedini specials, a rigatoni with cream sauce, a large pepperoni and hamburger pizza, a chicken parm entree with salad, and cheese garlic bread. My husband waited an hour for our take out order. The pastas, chicken parm and pizza were great. The chicken spedini was disappointing. It tasted like chicken that over cooked in the crock pot for the day. I don't know if they prepped and cooked a lot of it and then just kept it warm causing overcooking in anticipation of how busy they'd be with the special running or if this is just their regular spedini, but there are much better chicken spedini entrees in the south county area. We will come back to Liliana's , but not for that dish. I even bought extra ones for a pregnant friend for their dinner, and I want to apologize to her for it. read more

Excellent sandwich spot. First time here because we didn't want to drive to the city for a good Italian sandwich, Liliana's popped up in my search so let's give it a try. Excellent spot. Really good menu of sandwiches, pizzas and pasta's with great appetizers. Toasted Ravs were three stars and the sauce was five stars. The sandwiches and service exceeded five stars because of the cheerful server and good beer selection too. A definite must-return to spot for dinner. read more

Wanted to try something different, so we ordered the Italiano pizza. It has Volpi salami, pastrami, roasted red peppers, mozzarella, Italian seasoning, artichoke hearts, and flash fried spinach. It was really good. The fried spinach added a nice texture and the Italian seasoning added to the already nice tomato sauce flavor. We'll probably get this again since we haven't had a pizza like this anywhere else. Our waitress was very attentive and had our drinks refilled constantly. This is the second time the husband and I came here. 1st time we came we had few appetizers just to kill time and loved it all. Second time we came we ordered the stuffed mushrooms (second time ordering them bc they're so good!). Then we got the small Italiano pizza with side salads. Husband and I weren't fan of the pizza at all. It was too gamy and the taste was just off putting. But, ready to come back and try some pasta dishes. The service has always been great, apps have been fantastic. Two things that I'm not crazy about is how dark it is in there and it's hard to see the menu and 2 not crazy they only serve beer and wine . Recommended by a friend and so glad we followed through. We went early (5ish) on a Friday night and had no problem getting a table as we walked in. Our server was Chelsea and she was so attentive and helpful. The menu is extensive with daily specials. My husband wanted to try the pizza. He was a little disappointed in the cracker thin crust. But, overall satisfied. We started out with the bread artichokes as appetizer. So good and filling! I ordered the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich with spaghetti/tomato sauce as the side. Liliana's has been on my "must-try" list ever since we've moved back to the St. Louis area. It wasn't around when I grew up, yet everyone I know has recommended it as if it could stand up to long-time staples like Rich & Charlies or Trattoria Marcella. The service was a mixed bag. We had a younger waitress who was friendly but not very attentive, but she did seem to be doing a lot of other work around the restaurant. The food was also a mixed bag, mostly positive. We were given a free basket of Garlic Bread, which was kind of dry but we appreciated the gesture. We started with 2 Meatballs, which were probably the best item we had. They were cheesy, tender, and well-seasoned. The entrees were alright as well. My Dad got the Italian Chef salad and really enjoyed it. It was a large portion and very flavorful. My pizza was just okay. It tasted like someone dumped a bag of IMO's cheese over store-bought cracker crust and called it a day. It wasn't terrible, but I would just get IMO's if I wanted a basic STL style pizza. This was our second time eating here. Didn't think as highly of it this time as last time, not like anything awful happened or anything, but the food just seemed blander this time. The cesear salad dressing lacked any anchovy taste, however the lettuce and cheese were fresh. The shaved steak sandwich with aus jus I would have preferred to be more meaty. The bread was heavily buttered and similar to the garlic bread served upon arrival. It was good but I've had better. The white sauce spaghetti was thick and nice in texture but again seemed on the bland side. Some more spices, garlic and some fresh shaved cheese on top would be a nice touch. Dinner was great tonight. We started off with Caesar Salad. It was a smaller portion than what we have received before and did not have much dressing on it but it was still tasty. We ordered The Italiano Pizza (Volpi salami, pastrami, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, Italian seasoning, artichoke hearts, topped with fried spinach) this was delicious and a nice change from the Meat Lovers that we normally get. It had so many flavors in it. I certainly will order this one again. We were celebrating our anniversary so we opted to get dessert. We ordered the Mini Cannoli. They came four to an order for $10. I am very surprised this place has as good a rating as it does. I got a Timmy pizza ( meatballs, banana peppers and red onion; red onion only on half) from them. I looked at the menu and thought it was strange they only had small and extra large pizzas. So we got the XL. I went to pick it up and was not happy when they refused to honor my pizza passport that should've cut the price of the pizza in half. Instead I had to pay full price as they only honor the pizza passport if I dine in, as if it makes a difference. When I got home, I opened the pizza box and noticed that they put onions on the whole thing. Most of the onions were not red onions, by the way. The pizza was cut in a strange way; it wasn't the typical slice style or the typical St. Louis style grid cut. The pizza itself was mediocre. None of the 3 of us thought it was good. It was sort of like St. Louis style with the thin crispy crust, but the cheese was not provel. The pizza was not good and given that the only reason we ordered from them was the pizza passport that they refused to honor, I definitely will not be ordering from this place again. read more

We stopped in at Liliana's for dinner after a movie and let me tell you, the food did not disappoint! First we had a large group (9), we were seated pretty quickly, it was still pretty early in the evening, so not too much of a crowd yet. Orders were taken and the food came out fast! I was pleasantly surprised by Liliana's Italian Kitchen - don't let the outside fool ya! It's located in a small shopping complex, and the outside isn't fancy or eye catching. But it's easy to find with the big signage. There's lots of parking and easy access. Walking in, it was a dark interior, but I was immediately drawn to all the strings of white lights hung throughout the restaurant on the walls! I felt like Buddy the Elf had decorated the set for The Soprano's... and I mean this as a complement! I loved the interesting vibe. I want to bring my BFF when she visits next time. It felt cozy, and friendly, and smelled like I was going to have a fabulous meal... and I did! I had one of their toasted sandwiches called The Meadow that had turkey, and my friend had another one that was Italian Beef. I can't recall the fun specialty name for that one, but I recall how dang good the food was. Those sandwiches will have me coming back! It was so good that I had DoorDash deliver another order the next week. This time I had a Caesar Salad, toasted raves, garlic cheese bread, and tiramisu. The raves are tiny - like baby ravioli - that you can eat in one bite! The meal was delicious... Although I will say, the tiramisu was just okay. It was heavy on cream cheese, and the texture wise not fluffy light. Don't get me wrong, I ate it, but I've had better. Next time I'll order the chocolate cake, which was sold out (that tells me it's probably awesome). So yes, there will be another next time! I'll be back! Service was wonderful. St. Louis is known for great Italian food and pizza. We tried this place for the first time, and it was really really good. I had a cheese pizza with mozzarella, we shared a meat lovers pizza, we had chicken spiendini, and the beef sandwich with the pastas salad. Server was great. Went in on for first time visit on a Sunday night, had called earlier reserving a gluten-free pizza crust for us, due to celiac issues. Yeah it's a pain... Unfortunately the last one was given away--but the manager did make things better by grilling chicken and adding it to their fabulous Mayfair salad. Next time you are having a party at home, think of Liliana's for the catering. We had a family party for 20 adults this past Friday and called Liliana's for the food. House salad, tenderloin and Carmela sandwiches wrapped in halves, rigatoni with spinach, and cannoli! Everything was prepped and ready for pickup at my desired time. And the staff helped loaded the food for me...great service. And the real test was our guest reaction...rave reviews about the wonderful food.
