We like Sonny's. The food is usually consistently good. I always get the Cobb Salad with shredded brisket on top. My salad, and I can't believe I'm saying this, could have used more lettuce! It was loaded with toppings which is wonderful but the toppings overwhelmed the lettuce itself. Also, the brisket was awfully fatty. Husband had the SL Ribs, with 2 sides & declared it all very good. My salad was huge. I probably brought home half of it. The ribs were good as well as the corn nuggets; however, the wings were very undercooked. I actually got a bite of raw meat in my mouth, ugh. I told the waitress and she was indignant and acted like she didn't believe me. Very very rude. Upon paying, I inadvertently hit the X key which apparently messed up the payment and she said I only paid 1 cent for the meal. I corrected that, but once again she was very rude. Our food was decent except my smoked turkey was cold, but the taste was stilI good. I would have like to have it warmed up but the waitress was too busy. She did ask if everything was ok as she scurried by so I couldn't tell her I needed it warmed. The baked beans were overly sweetened, idk if this was an accident or not but I couldn't eat them. We've eaten at a Sonys before and their beans weren't that sweet, Idk what happened today? The ladies restroom needs the stall doors sanitized along with the entrance door and also the front of the toilets were nasty. This was our favorite Sonnys from 2006 - 2016. Having moved further south we rarely go through Belleview now but this week we traveled through and looked forward to our old favorite. The building is lovely, updated, clean, no hint of the old Sonnys wooden tables and long line to get in. The wait staff is very congenial and helpful. The old specials are gone, but the fragrance of smoked BBQ lingers in the atmosphere. However, we were very disappointed with our meal. The ribs were very dry, the sliced pork very fatty, and the shredded pork did not have the distinct flavors we remembered and loved. The slaw was excellent but the beans were flavored with an unfamiliar seasoning. Disappointed with our meal and a 2 star rating is all I can give. read more

Been a regular customer since '68, at various locations through the years. Always a fan of the ribs. I remember going at least once a week, I think it was always on Wednesdays, to get the All-You-Can-Eat Ribs INCLUDING the Salad Bar for $9.99! Sure miss those days and I'd love to see the Salad Bar return. This visit, we both got the ribs. I got the Sweet & Smoky, Fab One got the Dry Rubbed ribs. I gotta say the ribs were not up to the usual par we expect. Not bad, but just not exactly the same. They were a bit dry and lacked the famous flavor we love. Our server was great. My husband had the brisket, rib and pulled pork combo with fries & slaw. It was just ok. Meat was a little dry. I had the sweet carolina sandwich with mac & cheese. Everything was amazing, we came by yesterday after church and we had a small wait for our food which I didn't find unreasonable given how busy they were but OMG let me tell you it was well worth the wait. Sonny's BBQ is a classic all time favorite of mine. Consistently good, reasonably priced and a place where you can go to eat and actually slow down a fast paced world. This is country and there is no hurry up and run going on here. The menu has many classic bbq plates like pulled chicken and pork to baby back ribs and combo meals that are reasonably priced. I think they have the best sweat tea in town and serve it in very large cups. My go to favorites are the chicken on the bone lunch meal, but this time i ordered the steak cheese burger on garlic toast and instead of fries i opted for a sweet potato. It came out relatively quickly and was absolutely delicious. The garlic toast added a nice touch of extra flavor too. Sweat potato and cinnamon butter rounded out a very filling meal and the sweat tea helped wash it all down. All in all another great meal from Sonny's and a wonderful laid back dining experience. read more

I drove through the drive through to pick up ribs for my husband, myself, and two contractors that were still here working. I ordered 2 slabs of ribs and four bbq beans and four Cole slaws. I told the server I was trying to feed four people. I asked her twice if those were full slabs of ribs. She said yes. I got home and found 6 small ribs in each container. Definitely NOT a full slab even between the two containers. I'm very disappointed and so we're the guys I was trying to feed. read more

Heard good things about Sonnys bbq. Unfortunately our experience was less than satisfying. My father ordered a draft beer the glass had a large lipstick print on it. It hadn't been washed. His fork had food on it still. Mistakes happen, I understand, but the worst is coming. One of us ordered the BAKED chicken and the other 3 orfered the all u can eat St Louis ribs. After a few ribs we noticed that the meat was undercooked at the bone, almost raw. The chicken was undercooked also. The manager was summoned after our waiter shrugged off our concerns. The manager then tries to tell us 'that is normal, during the smoking process bones will break, the seasonings/sauce willsoak into the bone, and then leak back out discoloring the meat. It is good to eat.' First... the chicken was BAKED and it was obviously undercooked. Second... the pork was undercooked and the bones were not broken. I have smoked ribs many times, and have never experienced this managers "excuse". We will never go back. read more

I went Through the Drive Thru Friday night and ordered dinner for my family. It was my anniversary and after a long day at work I figured dinner and a movie at home. I should of known better and check the bags after a long wait at the drive thru window. But I didn't. Got home and half the order is missing. Fries were cold and hard. Called the manager and he apologized of course and promised to put a credit in the books since I didn't live close to the store. Called today about the credit and the only thing he credited was a 1/2 lb of ribs. Absolutely no customer service. No cares that dinner was ruined because of their mess up.
