Will not be returning to this Sonny's again. Started out with our drinks being served in to-go cups,for me that is ok, but my mother didn't appreciate that. We ordered corn nuggets and those were good (only think that was good), e has to ask for silverware and was brought plastic. I might need to mention we were dining in not taking out. We both ordered baby backs with sweet potatoes. Well the sweet potatoes were black (basically dead) and when we cut into them the inside was a dirty brown just gross looking. Our ribs were dried out abs the sauces have an odd taste that they never used to have. The corn bread was cold like it just came out of the fridge. We got there a little early to avoid the dinner rush and were seated promptly. Our server was fairly quick to get the drink order but when she was taking the order it was impossible ignore the miasma of unwashed body drenched in cheap perfume that hung about her. Her cloths looked as though she had slept in them for a couple days. I asked for my sandwich on a bun and a side of mayo. I watched her write the order but not note my request. So when the food arrived my sandwich was on garlic toast and no side of mayo. I flagged her down and she took it back and instantly came back with it on a bun,a cold bun. I pointed out that the menu says toasted bun so she took it back again. When my sandwich did return my dinner companions were done eating. Actually, it was a lot better than I remember. Ribs were lean and the sauces were OK. $14.99 for all you can eat ribs, excluding beverages. Service was excellent. Generic, chained and filling. Since the virus outbreak, and even before that, Sonny's food quality and cooking had been suffering. My wife was always complaining, but I tried to stick it out and give them a 2nd and 3rd chance hoping things would get better. The service was always good, but the cleanliness not so good. After the "outbreak/pandemic" when Sonny's and other places went to "Take out only" my wife and I decided to help give them a try and keep people employed thinking they'd actually give a shit and improve. Sonny's got much worse. My wife ordered a take out dinner for our evening meal on 4/9 and when I picked it up, the gal handling their take out nearly threw the bag into my car!! When I got it home and we platted the food, it was just awful. The brisket was literally "nothing but fat and grizzle chucks- and no brisket", and the ribs weren't even cooked thru and thru, and were fatty all over. The Mac-N-Cheese had grease drippings throughout, and on and on, and all we both can say was, "well, that's it. We tried to care and give Sonny's a chance, and keep some of their people employed, but obviously the cooks are ill trained, don't give a shit, and the place is just going down hill. Sonny's will no longer ever get any more of our business. When "Miller's Ale House" comes to Vero Beach and I hope they do they will get our business--not Sonny's. Sonny's Manager must be so poorly trained and ill-aware of how important good quality food and good customer service is, that he/she may have just jeopardized their future. In 45 years, I have never experience such a terrible meal from any place as this. We will never eat their crappy food again. It is such a shame that what could have been a good place (and was three years ago) has now gone so far down hill. This was my very visit here and it exceeded my expectations. I was very satisfied with the food and service. They also have the best cornbread and sweet tea I've ever had! We had the family feast and it had a sample of brisket, bbq chicken, and ribs. Great choice for a family of four, with 3 sides and choice of breads. This will be one of my usual dinner spots. My granddaughter and I went to Sonny's tonight. It is her favorite place for ribs. Last time I went through the drive-through it took almost a half of an hour so this time I decided to go inside and place my order. A very nice young lady took our order. While we were waiting for our food to be prepared there was a direct view into the kitchen. My granddaughter and I were both mortified to see a server,old enough to know better, playing with her hair for 15 minutes straight. We did not see her wash her hands after doing so. I would hope if someone doesn't know better that the manager would be able to educate them and let them know that fixing your hair should be done in the restroom were you then have the ability to wash your hands and not everybody is watching you. I have been in the food service business for 44 years and I almost wanted to cancel our order once I saw this women's behavior. While we were seated waiting for our order to be completed we had full view of the kitchen. When they get a chance they seat us and then another 10 minutes goes by with no drink order or acknowledgement. My husband had to go seek out a waitress. We finally ordered and got the food. The waitress: -handed us our plates instead of just placing them on the table; -rubbed her nose with the side of her hand and carried on with business as usual; -talked over our heads in a loud voice with other waitresses in our section. -was generally surly and unhelpful. She and 2 other waitresses went about cleaning the space around where we were eating, brushing the floor, windexing the panel windows above our heads, and thereby making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.
