Went here to try a new Friday pizza date night place. I probably won't be back. Main reason is it's filthy. Bathrooms counters,tables rugs etc. buckets scattered around catching water from leaking roof. Finger prints on doors. Just a turn off. The food was mediocre. Grabbed a pizza and cheesy fries. The pizza from here should win an award for best pizza in NH. The first night I ordered their house special (which had a bunch of meats and veggies)-- phenomenal. Crunchy crust and cooked to perfection-- just how I like my pizza. The second night I was craving pizza again and got the plain cheese. It was PERFECT once again. Food is hit or miss. I order the steak tip dinner...all the time (probably 3 times a month) they are always different, not always a good choice. I will start by saying the food is great! I've had everything from pizza to a meatball sub to a spaghetti dinner here and it has always been up to my standards. However, most of the tables are not cleaned regularly which is shown by having to search for a clean table and usually ending up in the back of the restaurant. There are also a few staff members who are a bit short on patience (Although this is a college town so take that with a grain of salt). And finally the booths are in dire need of refurbishing as most are ripped, drawn on, and carved into(again a college town). We decided to check out Sonny's on the chance they might have a TV, and we were not disappointed. It looks small from the front, but has quite a large dining room full of cozy booths and a couple tables in the front. I didn't make it all the way to the back, but it looked like it had a great outdoor patio too. It's an order at the counter and they'll call you when it's ready kind of place, so no tipping expected. We ordered a Gyro and fries to share and they were prepared fresh while we watched Spain win the world cup in overtime. The gyro was one of the best I'd had in a while, so I definitely recommend it! They have an Italian menu and a huge sandwich menu along with their Pizzas. We had a large cheese, a large sausage and peppers, and a small greek salad. The pizzas are far and away better than anything you can in get in Hillsboro so the extra drive was well worth it. I have had both their Gyros and calzones.. For $6.99 You can either a small Calzone or a Gyro (by itself -- not a meal). I've also had the Gyro meal which comes with salad and fries. Overall, if you're hungry, on campus this is a reliable place to have a meal. The calzones have always been decent. I admit that I am a bit picky with my pizza/calzones. The flavor of the sauce could be a little better. It is "average.". I actually like their Gyro better. Good flavor. Fresh ingredients. I had a Gyro meal there -- comes with fries and a salad. We tried out Sonny's on a quiet Sunday afternoon, when most of the college students were on vacation. Choice of tables, some with a view of the river (it is winter, so no sitting outside). You order at the counter, then pick up your tray when they call your number. The prices are low and the quantities are large to humongous. I had the veal parm ($8.95) - comes with spaghetti or ziti, nice salad, and a hunk of garlic bread. Three nice pieces of veal, with cheese and sauce over everything. Two-thirds went into the take-out box provided, for my dinner tonight. Shared a small onion-ring side ($2.50) with my wife, nice thin beer batter, plenty for two. She had the scallops with rice and managed to finish half. I am looking forward to trying some of the other menu items: souvlaki dinner, clam strip dinner, and the spaghetti combo (meatball, sausage, veal, and mushrooms), all at just $9.50. Just moved to town and tried the pizza. We had a couple of different types and I thought they were amazing I loved the quantity of veggies, meat and cheese. I always ask for light on the sauce but forgot to so I nervous there would be too much. It was perfect. Great crust too!!! My teenage son did not like it. He found the pizza's to be overwhelming with amount of toppings. I would recommend the pizza. Next time I will ask for light on the toppings. Lol well for my son's pizza. I went again for a 6th try and this time ordered a steak tip salad. OMG the steak was amazing!! But the salad it's self was very disappointing. The veggies did not taste fresh. The green peppers were diced. Which is fine but I like the slivers it carries more of the great taste. The seating is perfect the service is awesome most of the food is amazing. read more

I am regretful for being so harsh in my review. I have been coming to your restaurant for years because I like your food. I did not appreciate the poor attitude I received on the phone recently, and I do feel your restaurant needs work and updating. Hopefully you can consider your lack of courtesy in the future, as I have considered mine. Remember you may be talking to someone who has supported your business for years, and your goal should be to correct YOUR mistake, and not try to blame the customer for expecting proper service. It was not about the French fries, after all. It was about customer service, and you clearly missed that point. read more

Excellent pizza. My 6 year old son devoured an entire cheese pizza and asked for another one upon finishing it. Given how picky he is about his cheese and sauce, this says a lot. The rest of us shared a Veggie Lovers pizza. Great combination of veggies including fresh garlic. The crust was thin, crispy and tasty. The cheese was pretty high quality as there was very little grease on the pizza dish or on the surface of the pizza. Our only complaint was their use of canned mushrooms. I never quite understand how a good quality pizza place uses canned instead of fresh. We decided we would return in the summer to enjoy a pizza on their porch overlooking the Contocook River. read more
