After my cat was replaced by them with an aftermarket cat, it failed a little less than 2 years later. I brought it to them they took it off and saw that it had failed. Though the manufacturer was no longer making the aftermarket cats for California and therefore couldn't or wouldn't honor the 2 year warranty. So I stopped to talk to these guys and met with Matt. Great service, honesty, and a sincere concern for the proper operation of my vehicle. My flex pipe on the down pipe had probably been leaky since I got the car several years ago; I just turned off the fan at stops so the exhaust didn't get into the cab. Well, I was tired of that. But, being thrifty and working on my own vehicles for the most part, I was going to spend all this time dropping the section to bring to them to weld the new flex portion in. When I brought it in for Sonny to look at, he put it right on the lift, quoted me a great price, and said it'd be done in an hour-ish. I saved a bunch of knuckle busting, time, and potentially installing a pipe that wasn't perfectly aligned, therefore putting tension in the flex section and probably wearing it out prematurely. In fact, this is what he said had happened previously; once removed he found significant torsion in the flex joint. It did take about an hour more than he thought, but it made sense taking into account how these VWs are set up (crossmember in the way, had to add several steps more than a regular car ("Honda civic would take...20 minutes!"). Besides, you're in lovely fallbrook, and have within walking distance three thrift shops, two cafés, joes hardware, oreilys auto, and an award winning library...and maybe an Irish pub and Fallbrook Brewing Co.. :) read more

I came to the shop to have my Mercury Grand Marquis converted to dual exhaust. Matt put together an awesome Magnaflow system, H pipe, and chrome tips. Sonny quoted me a cost for a dual exhaust system for a classic Chevy which was the only good reason for me to drive all the way to Fallbrook for car repairs. Once I got there, & I was already an hour late, which made for a long day. I asked him for a quote to weld 2 new front floor panels as well. So, it made for a very long day. These guys may be great, but I tried to get a quote over the phone for a simple weld repair on cracked tail pipe, that would only take minutes, and they insisted they had to see it to give an estimate. Being an engineer, I know a lot about welding, and my explanation of what needed to be done, was more than adequate for them to give a quick estimate, but they refused, and wouldn't even discuss it further. So I called another shop in town, and they gave me an estimate over the phone of about $25. Needless to say I had my wife take it there, and they ended up doing it in a few minutes for free. read more

Sonny fixed the cracked catalytic converter and exhaust system hanger on my 2010 Subaru outback. Another muffler shop had said I was going to need a whole new exhaust system- maybe $2000 bucks! Firstly, Sonny himself is not only a great guy to speak with or discuss your projects, but he is caring, meticulous, knowledgable and a true enthusiast. He speaks fluent 'hot rod' and will do things the right way or not at all. If you have an idea what you want, but need someone with experience to 'fill in the blanks', this is the shop and guy for you. It's actually very difficult to find a good shop to care for classics, customs or specialty cars these days.... you want to trust a shop which looks reasonable or projects the right attitude, but in reality, the shop you trust with your pride and joy can fall way short of the expectations you have. Not so at Sonny's muffler, tucked away off Main Street. He'll treat your car as if it was one of his own. I honestly can't say enough good about my experience with Sonny and his shop.
