We continue recommending this place after trying different dishes in the menu. We would have to say it is a hidden gem at Arlington. In particular, the lunch special has good cost and quality ratio. Our only complaint was that the staff were sometimes too busy to handle the takeout/cleaning/greeting..... it happened a couple of times that one or two things on our order were left out and not packed in the takeout bag.....

Thank you, Sono -- the boat was a big hit at our Super Bowl party! The rolls were made with obvious care; our guests enjoyed everything.

This is actually the first time I came here. I'm staying over with my sis in Arlington for a while and they told me Sono is a good place to go for fresh fish and sushi. Now, I wouldn't say the service is the best, but the food definitely is!!!!! I ordered shrimp tempura maki, uni sushi and salmon sashimi! They are all great!!!! The uni sushi got me flying.... And the price is so cheap I can't even believe it!! The boss himself is so kind cuz the waitress ordered something wrong with me, and he didn't even blame her. I will definitely come back on Thursday cuz they say they are getting fat tuna lol!

Not impressed. Mediocre sushi. Awful crab Rangoon. They must have been deep fried in old oil. They were not fresh and delicious. The restaurant itself is really cute. Maybe I just had a bad experience here but I have to say I'm disappointed because it's a cute little neighborhood place and now I don't want to go back.

Excellent local sushi place. I enjoyed lunch with my brother and his son-in-law on a quiet Thursday. We all enjoyed a fatty tuna sashimi starter followed by the maki special- a lot of maki for the money. Lots of choices of maki- I had the spicy tuna, spicy salmon and California. The sushi and sashimi was generous in quantity and very good, but just short of great. I've had fatty tuna which seemed to dissolve like butter in my mouth and this was just a bit better than normal tuna. The spicy tuna and salmon weren't as spicy as I like, but this is nit-picking because this place is really good and I will be back. Service was friendly and effficient.

We are HUGE fans of Sono! Absolutely love coming here. My husband and I have been regulars since the first month they opened. They were spotty in the beginning so we didn't frequent it as much, but the last year and the half, they have improved to near perfection. I'll comment on service first. Absolutely top notch. The waitresses are friendly, efficient, and prompt without being intrusive. You really can't get much better than those attributes when it comes to customer service. The owner, Tom, is always there. I think he works 7 days a week. And he is so hands-on. Whether he's helping the front of the house, the back of the house, the sushi bar, or occasional deliveries....you're in good hands with Tom, and the people who work for him. Now the good stuff: SUSHI. Always fresh! How do I know they're fresh? We live right across from Sono. Literally a minute slow walk. Our front window faces the restaurant so I always know when their seafood deliveries come in. It's not just the freshness, although that is the deal breaker for sushi, but their cut is very generous. And I don't mean the rice part either, I mean they truly load you up with the good stuff. And the hot Sake! You can't do sushi without Sake. We usually order 4 carafes, but on occasions, we'll do 5. We walk back responsibly to our front door, looking left to right, to left again before crossing Summer St :-) We are lucky to live in such close proximity to Sono because these guys are awesome! Plenty of street parking, however they do have their own parking lot behind the restaurant. The bar counter gets pretty busy during the weekends. I guess people enjoy watching the chefs do their thing. We prefer the corner table....

Two weekend visits to this relatively new subterranean Sichuan eatery in Harvard Square (Eliot…read moreStreet) with a very inviting interior and some VERY spicy dishes. -- Vegetarian Cold Noodle: Firm, peanut buttery, satisfying. Not spicy. Not too saucy, so you can "feel" the noodle, but I would have liked more vegetables. -- Yibin Fiery Noodles: Warm and similarly al dente, these were manageably spicy. Meat crumble, seeds or nuts, scallions, and heat. -- Red and Green Pepper Chicken: Batterless but crisp, tender, and not boneless. Relentlessly spicy from several heat sources and kaleidoscopically delicious. The closest comparison is dry hot chicken that also goes by a few other names, but this was better. Elite, and the best thing I ate in all of 2025, but sadly no longer on the menu. -- Stone Pot Tofu: Billed as Ma Po Tofu sizzling in a stone pot, but no sizzle and no stone pot. Identified as very spicy but minimally spicy and more numbing (more "ma" than "la"). I enjoyed the overall flavor (heavily seasoned) and the saltiness of the fermented black beans. Despite some of the menu discrepancies, this was a really good version for my tastes. Near-elite. -- Green Beans With Eggplant: Strong flavor, not too hot spicewise, but volcanically hot temperaturewise. Decent. -- Chicken and Clams: Black bean flavor, whole peppercorns, spicy but loaded with flavor beyond the spice. A deceptively huge and quite delicious. Elite. -- Beef Spring Rolls: Not my choice. Crisp, beefy, and chili sauce on the side added contrast. Solid, but boring, more typical of an Americanized offering, and a waste of an opportunity given Too Hot's killer menu. -- Pork Belly with Fermented Beans: Superb rendition, not drastically different from twice cooked pork, but much more flavor and giant pieces. Near-elite to Elite. -- Shrimp in Dry Hot Pot: Tons of dry rub spiciness, giant shrimp, chopped vegetables, and crinkle cut potatoes. Near-elite. -- Brussels Sprouts w/Shallots: More subtle flavors here but hardly bland. Fried shallots had sort of an onion ringy presence in miniature. Cooked just right. Outstanding overall experience, with the best dish on the first visit and almost all winners on the second. Kudos to the friendly and helpful service, including a server suggestion to switch an item after noticing we ordered two very similar items. Eager to return often and try even more of the menu.

Interior felt very modern and sleek - it was a bit small as well so it was a little cramped between tables and walking areas. The menu had a good selection of szechuan fare and we ended up sharing some of their popular dishes. I enjoyed the large fish one which was a good size for a family. Everything tasted authentic, my only qualm was paying for rice - you can't not have rice and it seems ridiculous to pay $3 for one bowl. Overall, a solid restaurant and option for Chinese food in Harvard Square.

No soggy noodles. -Ka Prow Crispy Pork - by the time I got it home, it wasn't very crispy anymore but it didn't matter because the flavor was fantastic. -Crispy Chicken Basil - same thing, not too crispy but still delicious.
