Came here with a girlfriend on Saturday for breakfast. We sat down around 10 which I thought would've been packed for being in the heart of Rutherford, but we were seated immediately and the place didn't fill up until probably close to 10:30-11am I got the smoked salmon Benedict with home fries and everything about it was delicious! The muffin wasn't overly toasted where it was hard to eat, the potatoes were flavorful , and the smoked salmon was fresh! Top this off with bottomless coffee and you got yourself a meal! My own personal complaint is that the seats are close to each other and it's awkward talking to your friend with the others so close, and the waiters have a hard time talking to the patrons and telling them their specials without yelling into their ears I'd definitely come back! read more

When I say everything was delicious- I kid you not, everything was absolutely delicious. We also both had a peach Bellini which was a great choice. The place is beautiful and I know we'll return. Fantastic! I met a colleague for lunch on Thursday, and had a wonderful experience. Our waiter read us the specials, all of which sounded tempting, and I ordered the pear salad with seared ahi tuna. My friend ordered the mango arugula salad with grilled chicken. Both salads were large, fresh and delicious. The service was truly top-notch. We stayed for a long time because we had work to discuss, and we were never made to feel unwelcome. After awhile we ordered a dessert to share, the lava cake, and it was sinfully delicious. I've been here several times and never had an issue but this time around it was just. No. The guacamole was great but they sent it out in this huge bowl and when I scraped into the molcajete there was about 4 tablespoons in there. Ok whatever. I had soup with two shrimp in there and salad. Why did I do that? Within a bout 20 minutes of leaving the restaurant I broke into a cold sweat and began to vomit. Tonight's adventure brought me into Rutherford. As usual, this is a place we've driven by various times and finally decided to give it a shot. First I want to express that I'm nervous what a four $$$$ consists of being this is rated two $$. With that said, you can't put a price tag on quality, so when I was told the price, I'm thinking that they better be bringing their "A" game. We started with the fresh guac and chips and the chicken taco spring rolls and I got a French onion soup. French onion soup was a little too salty for me otherwise it was very good. Let it be known that it's been a very long time since my last French onion soup. Guacamole was very flavorful and fresh. I was slightly disappointed with the serving size though. We still had a decent amount of chips left and my wife and myself were battling it out for the last scrape of guac in the container. I want to reiterate though, quality was five stars. Without a doubt. Chicken taco spring rolls came with two in the order. Perfect!! These bad boys were on point. Solid chunks of chicken and just very well made. This caught me off guard. I was expecting something mediocre at best and was hit with something that far exceeded my expectations. It came with two dipping sauces. One was a smoked gouda cheese which was out of this world and the other was a lime avocado salsa which I didn't particularly care for. The main dish consisted of something that my wife and myself both wound up choosing; the stuffed chicken which was stuffed with mushrooms, spinach, prosciutto and Monterey jack cheese with a lemon garlic sauce accompanied with a parmesan risotto. The risotto was average but the chicken was out of this universe. Definitely a solid place but be prepared for a slightly higher than anticipated bill, but in my opinion well worth it. read more

In 2015, a new restaurant opened their doors at the location that was home to Kracke Florist for years. A few other eateries tried to make a go of it there when Kracke closed, but they just weren't able to find the recipe for long lasting success. Then rumor had it that a chef from the demolished Rutherford House restaurant was taking over the corner spot AND he was bringing back the famously delicious and sorely missed Rutherford House salad. Great food, exceptionally friendly service, hard work and determination, and Sonoma quickly became a success and staple restaurant in our community. For my family and friends Sonoma has become "our go to" restaurant, a place where we are treated like family and we know we will be guaranteed a delicious meal. It IS our home away from home. Recently Sonoma acquired a liquor license in what was once a dry town. It was a bittersweet moment for us as we were sad to see the BYOB aspect go, but we were so very excited for the owners, and now our friends, of our favorite spot to begin a new chapter. Last night we attended the soft opening of the new Sonoma Bistro. New softer decor, which has noticeably positively impacted the acoustics, gorgeous warm lighting (that they are still working on - waiting for different lighting fixtures) a brand new full service bar with excellent cocktails (my fave was called Ocean Eyes), AND a new menu with some new really interesting and delicious options sprinkled with some of our original favorites. I had the paella, which was amazing! A.J. got the stuffed rigatoni and sausage -simply delish. I used to love this place but when did it get so expensive? It's not like it's a restaurant in NYC. It's not even the best restaurant in the neighborhood for those prices. The service we received two Fridays ago was a joke. We went around 6 PM for dinner and the waitress couldn't look more bored. She didn't offer us any water and instead of telling us the specials, she gave us a piece of paper with the specials listed. The table next to us had a different waiter and he didn't do that. Also, why is a party of two required to pay a 20% tip upfront? I always tip but seeing that tacked on was in poor taste. So NICE! Went there for the first time today for lunch. We sat outside and it was wonderful! There were big umbrellas for ample shade and nice clean tables which I like! Adding Sonoma Bistro to our Go-To Breakfast List was a good idea as we finally got to do Brunch on a Saturday. As an "expert" French Toast home cook, I continually look to sample French Toast offerings at the many breakfast places we frequent. I must say that Sonoma's food photos did help with my decision to order their "Fat and Fluffy French Toast" with your choice of Sides. We began with coffee for both of us, a delightful strong, yet smoothe blend. We were on our second cup when our food was placed on our table. For my wife, a crepe-like dish filled with veggies. For me, the Fat and Fluffy French Toast served with sausage links. All of my criteria was met; the bread was sliced thick, had been bathed in seasoned batter and lightly grilled until golden brown, 4 generous slices! My plate also contained a scattering of fresh fruit. I will also add that their sausage was absolutely delicious and unlike any other I've experienced! Staff checked in with us frequently with coffee refills welcomed. I've rated Sonoma Bistro very high for service, food prep, and cuisine presenting breakfast/brunch dishes that accurately support their website. Well here I go again. The place itself is a very nice restaurant situated on a corner. It was very inviting and the truth is that the staff was very accommodating as well. I had a reservation with google table and it wasn't there but they made it happen, so that's a plus. The only beef I had is with the food. Someone told me their lemon ricotta pancakes were very good. I beg to differ, it needed lemon zest or i was expecting a lemon whipped ricotta concoction to accompany it. The coffee and fresh juice were good. My carne asada Benedict was good however it didn't have that real carne asada element. Considering I've eaten real Mexican food in D.F. And Italian in Italy. Went here to enjoy dinner with some friends and my wife. Ambient was nice. Was looking forward to the churrasco but once it came out I was sadly disappointed with the size of it. Food was good but it wasn't until my friend showed me what was on his plate. There was a screw in his food! The staff were speechless and had no words. They just stared at us to see how we were reacting but didn't do anything. Later they said they would take it off our bill but instead they only took off the appetizer. Stopped in Sonoma Bistro twice for lunch in the past three months. Service each time was very attentive. Both times, I had the seared tuna burger which was pretty good. The first time I had the tuna burger, it was accompanied by fries which were excellent. Today's tuna burger did not come with fries. I had a virgin strawberry mojito which was excellent today. It had fresh mint leaves to top it off. The dessert I had the first time was a phenomenal banana cream pie. They were out of banana cream pie today. So the next best thing was an Apple Crostata which was very good. Next time, I definitely have to try one of their egg dishes. Sonoma Bistro has indoor and outdoor seating. Street parking is a real gamble in Rutherford. I've been lucky so far. Definitely would recommend Sonoma Bistro. read more
