Nick was our tour guide both times, and as a self described "wine geek", he is a wealth of information. He lives in the area so he knows a ton about the culture, grape growing, wine making, and local vineyards. Compared to other private wine tours, the price is very competitive. ($80/person for a 3-hour tour or $110/person for 4 hours. Does not include tasting fees, but Nick took us to reasonably priced tasting rooms and you may find some discounts or specials.) We had a great experience and would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and different way to explore Napa or Sonoma!

He started our with a classic Napa spot then took us to two smaller wineries that we never would have known about. The owners at the last two were extremely gracious and answered all of our questions (even the crazy ones). We even got to barrel taste at the final stop after touring their production area. If you are looking for a more unique way to see Napa than the normal car, the open air experience is very cool and allows you to be immersed in the the beautiful scenery of the valley. You can paddle around the mouth of the Russian River or enjoy the redwoods further upstream on their "vacation wonderland" tour. The guys take care of everything from squeaky clean kayaks and life vests to water and snacks just in case you need them. They manage to be both professional and simultaneously laid back and go above and beyond to make sure your group has a lot of fun. If this is your first time kayaking, don't be intimidated, Dave and Kiefer make it easy and fun. He was happy to angle the boat for optimal photo opportunities. Skip bringing binoculars. It's too hard to use them and easy enough to spot whales with the naked eye. Getting a good photo or video at the exact moment of a breach takes skill and patience. I'll skip holding the phone waiting for that perfect picture/video and just soak it in next time. All four of us expected to possibly get queasy, one is even known to get sea sickness but the smaller boat is so agile the Captain was really able to keep it on a smooth line. No one got sick or felt out of balance. Sitting up front in the cabin here and there was nice because the co captain seat has shock absorbers. I imagine if someone were worried about feeling off kilter they could sit there and be very comfortable. Don't be afraid to ask Captain Mike anything. He's very approachable and wants the charter to be whatever makes the guests happy. Thank you Captain Mike and Miss Vic Charters!! It was an epic experience. We all would do it again.
