While passing through Sonoma, I decided to pull in for a quick lunch, and I was greeted by a team that was warm, attentive, and genuinely happy to help, always a great way to begin a meal. The daily special was a Caprese sandwich, and that's what found its way to my table. At first glance, the presentation was rather understated and didn't quite create that immediate "I can't wait to dig in" moment. Fortunately, the flavor told a better story. Fresh mozzarella, vine-ripened tomatoes, fragrant basil, balsamic glaze, and quality olive oil came together on fresh bread to create a classic Italian combination. At the staff's recommendation, I ordered it toasted. The melted mozzarella was rich and satisfying, but if I were ordering it again, I'd choose it cold. A Caprese is at its best when not hot and the tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella remain bright, fresh, and distinct, allowing each ingredient to shine on its own. While the sandwich was enjoyable, it wasn't one that I'll be thinking about days later. What truly caught my eye were the steady stream of beautifully crafted tri-tip sandwiches making their way to neighboring tables. Judging by the smiles around the dining room, those appear to be the deli's signature offering, and they'll definitely be my choice on the next visit. The restaurant itself is comfortable and inviting, offering plenty of seating out front, along the side patio, and in a cozy tucked-away nook in the back. It's an easy stop on your way into Sonoma, perfect for a relaxed lunch without the crowds and a lot of options to eat & drink. Not every meal has to be unforgettable to be worthwhile. Sometimes you simply want good ingredients, friendly service, and an easy place to recharge before continuing your journey. This deli delivers exactly that. Stopped in on a Wednesday around 1:30 to share a sandwich with the hubby. Ordered their tri tip sandwich which comes on Dutch crust with a side of fries. The fries came from their outside food truck which normally closes at 1:30 but we got the order in just before they closed up otherwise you can grab some chips from inside the deli. The sandwich was good - not off the charts great, but good. The fries were slightly undercooked - maybe because we ordered them right at closing time? We sat outside and here's where my experience turned not-so-great. The meat wasps were out of control. I couldn't even set my sandwich down without at least three of them attacking it. I'm pretty sure there are traps they could put out that would deter these little suckers from attacking but I didn't see any. Good sandwich but I wouldn't eat it there again. The sandwich came out to about $15, which honestly isn't bad, especially in Sonoma where prices can run much higher. The customer service here is excellent, the staff are friendly and quick, and they make the whole experience enjoyable. While there is no indoor seating, they do have outdoor tables available which are perfect on a nice day. Great addition to a long rainy drive. Two weeks later I came in during lunch hour and ordered a smoked turkey sandwich with BBQ, jalapenos, provolone, & pickles. The sandwich was good. The only thing I expected to be different was the turkey. It was sliced deli turkey. The signs outside say BBQ so I just thought I'd get actual smoked turkey. But now I know! This unassuming little place on the corner of 8th St East and Napa RD makes some of the best sandwiches in Sonoma county! My personal fave is the Sonoma Italian Club, while the hubs prefers the hot tri tip sandwich. Whatever you choose, it's a great place to pick up lunch - or pack some sandwiches for a day of wine tasting. Terrible sandwich and service. I ordered the vineburg veggie and it had soggy/rotton spinach and lettuce, gross. The roll was stale and chewy definitely not baked fresh probably store bought. The tri tip sandwich and other bbq options were premade and stacked up behind some dirty glass case with what appeared to be some different salads but there was no labels or prices. The veggie sandwich is listed on the menu as coming with "choice of spread". I ordered pesto and was upcharged (!?) The girl said the free spreads included mustard, mayo and oil/vinegar. How is that a friggin spread? Those are condiments. I don't think the server or the lady in charge have any idea how a deli works and/or maybe don't have a very strong grasp of the english language. When I asked if there was a key to the bathroom they dismissively stated that the bathroom was closed (!?) Well open the friggin bathroom up for your paying customers come on lady. There were aprox 10-15 construction type workers drinking beers out back where the bbq pit was supposed to be. I'm not sure where they were expected to go if the bathroom's closed, or maybe they are the reason management closed the bathroom in the first place. Stay away this dump is way overrated. read more
