And I'm sure a lot more is done here and they're great at what they do!! Lynn measured my legs every time I was there and she saw that the swelling went way down on my left leg!! Which was great to hear from the professional, Lynn! And she's so careful and has great wisdom in regard to these socks. I am on my 2nd appointment today getting my 2nd pair and Lynn is there helping me with using rubber gloves.putting them on perfectly right for optimal compression furthest away from the heart!! When most people post reviews it's either to praise a business or complain about a problem. In my case I had temporarily rented a wheechair for home use. It had to be an extremely thin chair to fit my doorways. Limited supply. There was a mechanical problem with the chair during off hours. I called and left a message and also wrote a note. I got a call the next morning from Sebastian at Sonoma Surgical. They took care of things right away. Sent someone over with a short term replacement. I've been coming here for 20 years and I've only had pleasant experiences with the staff and my purchases have always been quaility items and at a fair price. When I took a friend there to purchase a walker, the staff aptly chose the right size for her. I noticed it had a puffy, soft seat and was super light weight! So easy to put it in the car. They don't have real competition when it comes to their level of caring for people. I've rented knee walkers from Sonoma Surgical Supply twice for 2 different surgeries, and I appreciate that the staff took time to help me find one that would work with the ergonomics of my very petite 5'1" height both times. You may be able to buy a knee walker for the cost of a month's rental, but the quality, rideability, and adjustability of the ones they have exceed what you'd buy at that some amount of rental money, unless you need one for far longer than the average recovery. There's also a huge plus to being able to see or try knee walkers and other products in person. I purchased a Leg Wedge and Leg Glove yesterday and was able to test out 6" vs. 8" so I was confident 6" was the right height for me, and to see how the Leg Glove velcro works. Way better and faster than spending hours trying to research on the internet! read more

An elderly friend who was here visiting needed a walker after a fall. The lady who answered the phone was pleasant enough, but so discouraging and unhelpful. She suggested not trying to bill my friend's insurance and instead renting a walker for nearly $100 a month! I'm pretty sure that I could buy a walker for $100 straight up from Amazon or from Target or a shop like that. read more

I am a 35 year old breast cancer survivor. I wear decorative compression sleeves which have been paid for 100% by my insurance. I recently went to Sonoma surgical for my sleeves because my previous provider is retiring and I was trying to find a new vendor. Sonoma Surgical was a major disappointment. Not only did I feel I wasn't being listen to, she bad mouthed my physical therapist to me saying she filled out the paperwork wrong, which I thought was extremely unprofessional she also told me she would not order decorative sleeves for me if they cut into her profit. I will never go there again, and I will tell all my breast cancer sisters to stop going there as well. I am not a dollar to be made. I am a human being. We should not be restricted to black or tan for her profit margins. read more

I went to Sonoma Surgical Supply looking for something to support my hips as the doctor has given up on helping me. I thought a local place like this might have something I could try. The girl opened the door and I tried to explain to her what I was looking for. She replied rudely, "We have nothing like that," almost closing the door on me before I could finish speaking- I hadn't set foot in the place yet. She didn't even offer me a chance to see what they had in stock that might work for me so I could decide for myself. I asked if she knew of somewhere I might go to find what I'm looking for and again, rudely, she didn't offer any further help. It's really sad that a business selling medical equipment to help people, wasn't helpful at all, in fact was extremely RUDE and discouraging. I will NEVER recommend Sonoma Surgical Supply to anyone. I broke my ankle and was looking at 5 or 6 weeks with no weight-bearing on that foot. Crutches are deadly; I was sure I was going to break something else trying to get around on them. My doctor recommended this place so we went to see what else they might have. The best choice for me was a knee-roller. It wasn't cheap to rent -- we probably could have bought one brand new for two months' rental -- but it was just what I needed and it was nice not to have to figure out what to do with it when the cast came off. They have knowledgeable and helpful staff, a wide selection of things to make life a little easier for people with a wide range of issues, and their prices are at the high end of reasonable. Parking is tight and access up the ramp into the back door is a little tricky for someone on crutches or in a wheelchair. But this place has things you might not even think to ask for, and that makes it a valuable resource. I hope not to need anything from here again for a good little while but appreciate knowing it's there if and when I do. read more

We have an account here and every time I come, which is a lot, they don't recognize me, and even when I show my business card, they are rudely insistent that I don't have an account here.They refuse to put our information in the computer, and every single time they have to find it in a paper file, and it takes them the longest time to find it. There are rarely any customers when I come in, and a number of employees, but no one is able to help me. Our clients get a discount here, but I don't want to refer them. I brought a friend here to be fitted for something her Doctor prescribed for healing and to bring back her quality of life. Things can be difficult when dealing with personal things. The appointment was with Sue and I have to say she was warm, welcoming and so comfortable to talk with. I was so impressed with her kindness. The very unhelpful ladies who work there know very little about medical supplies and when they don't know what you're talking about, they give out mis-information, like one needs a doctor's prescription when it is really untrue. So I go in to get a specific item and wait 5 minutes with 4 employees working and no acknowledgment from any of them. Finally one said I will be with you in a minute. Then I tell her what I am looking for and she had no clue what it was. Instead of asking one of the others for help which by the way two of them were not waiting on anyone else, she goes off and waits on someone else. After 10 minutes of standing there with no other employee asking to help me I go to walk out and say "Unbelievable" The original person yells 'Have a nice day" What an insult. I am in customer service and I can tell you someone needs to teach the employees how to deal with the public. Just because you are one of the few medical stores in the area doesn't mean you can treat us like dirt. Half of us don't want to have to visit this kind of store in the first place. I didn't want to make the trip across town if the merchandise I needed wasn't available so I called first to see if it was in stock. I was told that yes, indeed, it was in stock. I repeated that it was in stock and was told yes. After picking my grandsons up from school I drove over there only to be told it wasn't in stock. I rented an "ice machine" for my daughter who was having hip replacement surgery a few days before the surgery date so we would have everything we needed. I followed the directions on the machine which seemed to perform well until we notice that water was leaking badly. I called the store and asked for guidance...the person who answered said she didn't know much about those devices and didn't offer other assistance. I took the machine back the next day. The only conversation they offered was to say they would contact the supplier to see what the problem was....never did anyone say they were sorry for the difficulty. I asked for a refund of the rental price. They would give me only 1/2 of the cost since it had been 10 days since I rented it (the rental was for a month). I had to buy a pad to connect to the machine which was not returnable under normal circumstances. I asked for some credit for that since the machine had not worked. No. I will not go back to that store if and when other medical supplies are needed. read more
