Quaint little wine, coffee and deli stop. We needed a bite before Grape Escape and were s little early to the party. This spot was just blocks away. Easy small parking lot. The shop itself is divided into three areas. To the left a tasting room wine various wine and olive oil products. The middle area is the coffee shop with some pastries and chocolates. The left side is a mini deli and grocery store to grab bites to enjoy while out wine tasting. A clean shop with a nice staff. Just a little off the beaten path. read more

Sonoma's Best is open for take-out. Call them at 707-996-7600 to order; also check their open hours. I went there today and got my favorite chicken panini (it comes with caramelized onions, chipotle pesto, and gruyere cheese on sliced country round). I got it unheated, then took it home and heated it in my own panini press. It's so large I fixed only half, saving the rest for another meal. It's as good as ever! Please support these restaurants that are staying open for take-out; it's a difficult time for them. read more

Under new ownership for the last several years, and it's turned into a glorified 7-11. Thick layer of country folksiness, but overpriced and very mediocre food and wine. Wine shop used to be great. Now it is even outclassed by Safeway. read more

I used to love this place, but I'm horrified that the owners don't require masks for workers. I asked about this but essentially was ignored. Sorry to say I won't be back. I love this place! Cute, quaint, and quirky! It has interesting, local, and upscale items for sale. I always find something to give as a gift albeit housewarming or something for a Christmas stocking, bday present etc. Plus it has a local wine shop in another room. The deli is fantastic! Is it the best in Sonoma? I don't know. But this place is pretty damn good. Came here recently after a visit to nearby Buena Vista Winery. My colleague and I were in dire need of hydration on this hot summer day. Lo and behold, we stumbled upon Sonoma's Best - which looks like an old saloon from the exterior. However, once you walk inside, you'll discover a charming deli/wine & cheese store/and gelato shop. Major Score! We picked up a few bottles of water, a Revive Kombucha (my favorite), and two scoops of gelato. My co-worker got the apricot-chardonnay flavor, and I opted for the more traditional cookies & cream. They were both melt-on-your-tongue terrific. We took a seat outside on their deck and watched the cars rolls by this rustic country road. It was a perfect summer afternoon. I could've stayed here all day. I'll definitely come back here the next time I'm wine tasting in Sonoma Valley. This place is a true gem. * Bonus: they have their own parking lot! read more

We have sorely missed having a great deli at this location. Just a few blocks away from the Plaza makes all the difference in accessibility because there is no problem parking when you stop in to get your picnic items. The service is friendly and the food items are delicious. Your biggest challenge will be choosing because everything is excellent. And they make a great cappuccino - best in town. They will be opening a wine bar in the very near future to it will get even better. The place has charm and history and did I mention great service and friendly staff! This is a beautiful patio on which to enjoy sandwiches and soda/coffee. Food hits the spot. Especially in such a pretty location. You can order something that they'll prepare, or you can grab a sandwich and go. They have wines by the glass and all types of sodas/juices. They make a pulled pork that is just AMAZING. We were heading to Napa and we wanted to come back here. I'm glad I did a YELP review after the last time I came here. I was able to pull up the name, address etc so I could find it. I even found out what we ate last time. We liked it so much that we ordered the same thing again!!! The roast beef was just sooooo tender, the bread was tasty and warm, the cheese nice & gooey, the artichoke hearts and olives were a great touch! We even sampled the gustpachzo (?) which looks like salsa, but isn't spicy like that. It was GREAT!!! Wasn't sure if I was supposed to put it on top of something or drink it like a soup or what...So, I have some studying to do before I go back there and get a bucket of that stuff! This time, we at out in their back patio/garden area. The weather was beautiful and it was very relaxing and quiet back there. I took a trip there. And it was beautiful! We stayed out first night in the Fall and second in the moon cottage. I definitely enjoy the fall cartridge more it was bigger. We went wine tasting. The cottage gives you a list of 25 complementary vineyards! We went to three and that was enough. Before leaving it's nice to pack a picnic and then go and enjoy the wine! The cottage also offers bikes! There is a store in front with everything inside! Oh Gail the owner was beyond helpful. I called her many times and emailed her. Each time she replied right away and said they can't wait to have us. Extremely satisfied with this place and their customer service. !!! read more

Don't let the beer and wine category fool you! Not only do they have alcohol but also have a small gift shop and deli. They offer great coffee, pastries, deli sandwiches, soups, hot dogs and even homemade strudel (in the freezer section). They have peaceful outside area with tables. It's very clean and well maintained. The prices are high, but that is to be expected since a lot of their business is from tourists. They also have guest cottages in the back. Don't expect the employees to be very friendly. My boyfriend and I like to stop mid-morning and sit outside sipping coffee and munching on the morning buns. This spot is a perfect stop to get your day started. They have some of the better coffee in Sonoma, sandwiches to go and a variety of other items to create a nice picnic. There's also a nice little wine shop in the building with super fair pricing. It's a great option for those of you who want to bring food to a wine tasting because the items they sell pack well in a bike saddle or backpack. I personally like the pressed panini sandwiches but, the cold options are great too. My only complaint is the check out process...it's a total mess. There are multiple parts to the store but, no identifiable area to check out/order outside of the coffee area. This process creates a massive bottleneck and it takes forever to get everything you ordered. Why can't they set up multiple POS systems in each room? Anyway, don't need to drag on about the logistics of the space because everything they are selling inside is delicious! read more

Shame on the Mattson's - I came here for a coffee today and both employees were not wearing a mask. I asked for the manager and was told that "they are all managers". I then told "the manager" that California has a mask mandate for all businesses indoors. She said OK. I asked her what OK meant and she then told me that they would continue to do business as always....... There is no sign on the door stating that customers must wear masks. I then drove to The Sonoma Cheese Factory (also owned by the Mattsons) and surprise! Same situation - no sign, no mask. This place is everything great about a local wine shop, with an awesome deli as a bonus! Todd, the manager and Somm, has curated a really interesting and thoughtful selection of wines from around the world. He's a big advocate of local Sonoma wineries and wine-makers, while also expanding his customers' wine horizons and encouraging adventurousness. I've always said his weekly tasting events (when those were a thing) are the best deal in town! They include a wide variety of interesting selections and Todd is always ready to share his knowledge about each wine and engage in discussion. His recent virtual events have been really nicely organized and enjoyable as well! One of our vineyard specialists recommended Sonomas Best to us for a quick, yummy lunch! Boy were they right!! We got the orzo salad, Greek cucumber salad, and the Reuben sandwich. I have visited this nice country store and winery. It has a winery tasting room, deli, soups, ice cream, many foods, olive oils, and more. There are also some cozy cottages in the back, and a friendly staff there too. Nice to come and buy some products that you will not find in most regular stores and some great items to take with you if you're planning on making your own picnic. This place was featured in a magazine and rated high. It is worth the visit and to buy something you might want. read more

Although this is one of my favorite places to stay, their wine bar and more specifically their wine club is amazing. I have joined numerous wine clubs in the past, and this one is hands down my favorite. Todd Jolly is their Certified Sommelier and Wine Director. His ability to find somewhat unknown, spectacular wines is second to none for the price point. The wine varietals go from domestic (west coast winemakers mostly) to international (Spain, France, Italian). For context, I do not consider myself someone who is an expert wine drinker, however I do have a decent pallete for delicious wines that are not too sweet, and not too dry. Maybe its a pallete match that makes this wine club so wonderful, but I'm convinced its much more than that. Highly recommended. read more
