Our new friends wanted to come here because they had a fabulous meal in Puerto Vallarta. They raved about it so much that we had to try it. This place was beautifully decorated but the food was just ok. We got the ribeye center and it was slightly better than a sirloin you would get at TGIF or Chili's. I would opt for another steakhouse in Polanco. Service - I asked for "house water" aka tap and they brought out a bottle that has " Agua de casa" on it for $70 pesos. Our server didn't speak much English and the "manager" that came over to make sure the order was taken correctly didn't speak any better English. We visited the santa fe location. It was everything and more. The decoration and lighting it was a whole vibe. The entire staff was amazing so nice and attentive. The food my people the food was outstanding. We started with octopus chicharron then we shared bone marrow in its juice. The bone marrow literally melts in your mouth. Portions are so generous we couldn't keep eating we wanted to try so many more things. Also they give you a FREE APPETIZER made of a sort of bean dip and 6 homemade salsas and chips. On our last night in Mexico City we driver to change things up from traditional tacos and eat at a steak house. The place is very nicely Decorated with a classy feel. While the food was great, the waiter ruined the whole experienced. He over charged us and they didn't know how to refund me. After a lengthy back and forth they figured it out and pulled it off. Late dinner in Mexico City, very mediocre. Everything looked really good, but most dishes were under seasoned. The short rib was braised for 24 hours, but didn't taste beefy. The suckling pig tacos were super tender, but again no "porky" goodness, just really tender meat. Shrimp ceviche was fishy, needed more acid to cook down. Desserts were the same. Cheese cake was more gelatinous, less cream chee-sey. There were many chili sauces to accompany every dish, maybe I didn't use enough. Guess I expected each dish to stand on its own flavors. Service was really good and turned this 2.5 star review into a 3 star. We'll try again tomorrow in Monterrey. read more

Before I came here, I had no idea how big nine hundred grams of meat was. Surprise: it's a lot! The wait staff were pleasant and helpful, and the food was fantastic. We had our meal on the very top floor of the building. Drinks were strong; the wine picked by the wine sommelier was great and reasonably priced. The whole experience was wonderful. I will say that the food and (most) of the service was excellent. One of our more delicious restaurant meals while in CDMX. Everything was delicious. Great ambiance and prices for the amount and quality are good. You receive complimentary chips, bean dip and salsas to start and to end you receive complimentary ice-cream on a cone. I would have given this place a solid 5 star review if it weren't for what I call some shady add ons to alcoholic beverages. When our waiter saw that my husband and I were both done with our beverages, there was another immediately on the way. We did not ask for it, but it was actually ok because we were each going to order a second round. On our first night in Mexico City we had dinner with close friends after a phenomenal day at Teotihuacan. This is a fancy steak restaurant with the dining level on the second floor. The decorum is modern with dark wood paneling and dim lighting. The music is loud so make sure you are seated close or you'll end up needing to scream. Wait staff are very attentive however so you won't need to yell to get service. For starters they brought out some tortillas with a set of 6 sauces of varying degrees of intensity, which were very good, and after dinner was over and paid we got a shot glass with sweet cream and a sprig of churos. The emphasis is to make sure customers are treated well and leave with something sweet on their minds. I was impressed with the beef tray that was displayed before we ordered our main course which had a tomahawk stake, and a huge porterhouse, and several other cuts that included a petite filet. For our main course I shared a 25 oz rib-eye steak with Julio that was served on a block of heated pink Himalayan salt. It was on the salty side but very cool as I've seen but never had it served on salt before. The quality of the cut was decent too. We also added Asparagus to complete the order. Probably one of the main attractions for this place is that all drinks are two for the price of one. I ordered a margarita and didn't have to ask for my second, which arrived as soon as the first one was finished. Similarly, I had a shot of 43 and the second shot was poured in a similar fashion. Nice! We had one mishap with the waiter who dropped one of our orders on my friends wife's lap. Thankfully, it was a half piece of grilled artichoke that fell off the hot plate as the plate was being put on the table. Had this been hot liquid it might have been a different result. The drinks were quite refreshing. I wish I could eat more--there were a bunch of dishes that I want to try. I feel like the place is not that easy to find, perhaps it's because its entrance is on the second floor and you have to take the elevator to access. Favorite restaurant in CDMX. I would say it is because the restaurant regardless of the location is always consistent in service and quality of food. The starter with the chips, frijoles, queso and assortment of salsa is the perfect starter. This is a steakhouse and recommend the ribeye. The drinks are nice as well. The food came cold. The windows not closing and we were freezing (they didn't care). The music is super loud, we had to scream to be heard. When taking the order I asked the server if he could take our drinks order first and he answered in a very rude way: "Why didn't you ask for them before"... I mean we're talking about a "prime" restaurant here....My husband and I asked to share our main dish and it didn't come separated and the server got mad again when I asked it to be divided. Awful service. Bottom line -Capital Grill knockoff. The hostess asked if we had any allergies and was happy they did this as my wife is celiac and severely allergic to gluten. But the waiter had no concept of what gluten is and brought her wheat crackers. She ordered a drink from the cocktail menu called red rabbit and even pointed to the picture and ingredients and the waiter brought us what turned out to be whiskey and water. When she asked why it didn't look like the picture he said the picture is different sometimes. OK? Well we didn't want to make a big deal but when her stomach started hurting I inquired again only to be told by the manager it was whiskey (red label) So apparently the waiter misunderstood. But we showed him on the menu and repeated throughout our order the allergy to make sure. My steak came overcooked but it didn't matter I couldn't even have a bite because we had to rush back to the hotel anyways. Manager was unhelpful and unsympathetic. I gave 2 stars not 1 because the atmosphere is beautiful and the appetizers we had were very good. This place is trying so hard to be a NYC grill but they don't understand followthrough. We had the provolone cheese appetizer and the shrimp cucumber salads appetizer. Both were amazing. The shrimp dish was sour and perfect with the crackers it was served with. For dinner, we had the New York steak to share. On the side, we had traditional corn. The steak was cooked to perfection and had a lot of flavor. The food was amazing and the service was great. Everyone who walked by check on us. After dinner, we had the chocolate soufflé. That was even better than the meal. Overall, best food we have had in Mexico so far! In my last visit to Mexico we gathered there with my father and brothers, we had a great time and the food was ok, I loved the crema de frijoles, and the sides were not not bad but the guacamole was extremely spicy. We shared different dishes what was good to try. Sitting area was nice, the only problem if you are in the first floor it can't get really noisy. The upper floor if you smoke is the place to go. This restaurant is located on the second floor but people greet you from the first floor lobby, and you have to take a nice elevator to the main dining area. The decoration and atmosphere is very high class, and it is recommended for dates or if you want to take a client out for dinner. The manager was very friendly and gave us food recommendation in English. Also, we were treated with free nachos and six different dipping sauce from the house. Didn't care for the reception or the service at this restaurant. Considering the type of dining experience I expected, and the price point, it definitely did not live up to expectations. I don't think we have ever been treated so cavalierly at any restaurant. At one point, the server brings my husband an unasked for replacement beer, but neglects to ask me if I needed a replacement drink. As for the food, my cowboy steak was fatty. I was hoping at least the steak would redeem my opinion, but alas, it only served as reinforcement. My husband ended up trading me his steak. Waiter claimed it would take 2 hours to prepare the injected hamburger on the menu and recommended a normal cheeseburger as a substitute. Said this was fine but received a burger that was incredibly tough and tasted like pumpernickel. After one bite it had to be abandoned. When the check came, it clarified that the waiter had served a veggie burger. Who on earth would sub a veggie burger for a real burger without permission? The waiter then proceeded to argue that we should have to pay for the burger because one bite was missing so it took repeated argument to get the item removed. The atmosphere is very nice and the service is excellent but the music is so loud you can not carry a conversation and the style of music at times is horrible . The food was good, some dishes better than others. The Mandarin salad is very good. Do not order the center cut on a block of salt as it is extremely salty. Get it on a regular serving platter. My girlfriend had arrachera tacos which were just wonderful both tacos had the perfect amount of spice and mixture of flavors was beyond perfect that made me had happy tears. Senora Grill is a beautiful restaurant. We thought the service was excellent. The music is too loud and the tv screens are very distracting with constant flipping screens with dancers. This type of entertainment should be in a casual place not an upscale steakhouse. It was difficult to carry on a conversation. The porterhouse steak was ok but not the most tender cut of meat. The meat was difficult to cut...no serrated knives available. Should have ordered a filet. The servers were very attentive and friendly. Wine was pricy. Don't think we will go back. We have gone to La Vaca Steakhouse several times and were pleased every time. Will stick with the tried and true. read more
